Frustration & Criticism for IF Authors nowadays

I noticed IF authors nowadays are.... Soft-mentality. No, i'm not trying to insult them on personal level, but it's how they execute their professionalism that really bugged me. It seems they just keep jumping from one WIP to another and a lot of rewrites, not bothering to really make an IF. It looks like they just want to what? Want to let the idea out than working on it. They love the idea to be out, but not working on the idea. It's like they were just following a trend to be IF Author at this point. And few Authors are just straight up leeching off their patrons' money; without any info, without any update on the why they'd gone invisible. I understand it was annoying to be pushed for updates, but you gotta commit to it once you make it for public to see and once you decide to make it your main job. And you gotta learn how the program works first before making anything. Your skill had to match your idea, Authors. Like, bruh 😮‍💨. Those patrons throw their money to support you to work on the idea. Not keep giving them rewrites part 2, 3, 100. Is it so hard to focus on ONE project, dangit. You think my money grow on a wall like moss? 😮‍💨.

I can excuse the soft mentality lol but after some time they need to not let it affect them lol especially if being an IF author isn't even their bread and butter lol.

And then we have the worst offenders; the ones who make an IF blog but has 0 demo to produce lmfao like i get wanting to promo but at least have a demo out first before making an IF blog just for it to be a yapping blog like there's this IF author who has a great premise but by gods update your game instead of just yapping in your tumblr blog like everything I've known about the game isn't from playing it but from the author asnwering asks lmfao

So I guess I'm not the only one frustrated about this. Especially for some games that have promise but are busy leeching off and milking their supporters dry on Patreon, and before you know it, they're overhauling everything again instead of actually progressing the story. Look, just focus on actually advancing your story first before I care about any NPC side story. You can do that later.

Thats the reason I dropped out on reading IFs for the last year. Ive been trying to find something new or catch up to the wips i used to read but most of them are abandoned and the new ones barely have content. Its frustrating. I used to love reading ifs everyday but looks like that habbit isnt viable anymore.

Edit: And the ones that arent abandoned just didnt update or barely had a chapter out

I remember an author that was going to make an IF based off of Formula 1 and had such high hopes. I would visit their Tumblr for any update and the author was very active on there of course answering asks about RO's and shii, proceeds to drop a prologue and chapter one and disappeared unceremoniously. This was before dashingdon got closed and then all of as sudden they reappear saying they're doing commissions and my gullible a** thought they were gonna start up work on it again but nope;radio silence for over a year and nothing of note being done about the IF again. It actually bummed me out because I was so hyped to see an F1 inspired IF especially because I've been actively following f1 since I was eight years old.The title of the IF was Circuit BTW.

What really had me laughing is "You think my money grow on wall like moss?" 😂.

I could excuse a month absent (or three, if i really liked the IF/VN), but more than that without notice? I'm backing out of your wallet.

This is actually not even an insult, in my opinion. Just fact. I also notice some of the IF/VN Authors are not thinking when they decided to post their games. And you know what makes me more frustrated? Kinetic IF. Just one plot without any other endings. If that's how you go about it, you write a book instead or make a video story-telling. It's all a trend at this point, just like you said 💔. Oh my frustration finally got said 😌.

Contrary to popular belief, there are other spaces than COG/HG IFs. If you are open to other formats than "COG/HG' romance-style, sandboxy "if"" then check out the IFComp games, IFDB or CYS (steer clear of the forums if you don't like their brand of entertainment or community).

You'll find COMPLETE Ifs for FREE.
