thoughts on AI in ifs?

so i was reading a wip and i figured the author's first language wasn't English because of all the grammatical errors (that's fine, English is also my second language so i understand) but i thought, "whatever, nothing a good editor or beta testers can't fix".
dude this person is using chatgpt to translate the story into English. and not even proofreading it because they left a prompt in there LMAO. never seen anything like that before but it must happen somewhat regularly. as if some of these wips quality wasn't questionable enough. can't imagine this will be good

I don't think ai has reached the level of being a complete threat to human jobs and I'm sure it'll never reach that point

Thing you've gotta keep in mind is that current A.I isn't really A.I, they're just high end chatbots with huge databases they can access and no real intelligence, long term memory and ability to change and grow.
When A.I becomes proper A.G.I all we'll need to do is give it access to the facilities, resources and equipment to get started and it will rapidly grow beyond Human capabilities if we let it change itself (which would be... inadvisable without significant and constant oversight from experienced and qualified A.I researchers and devs.) As such they'll likely be able to replace Humans in jobs since chances are it'd simply be cheaper and overall better in the long run than paying Humans (ofc high ranking executives rarely care about long term and instead care more about short term gains so we're probably fine for the most part.)

But yeah anyway, A.I in IFs are s h i t, it's why CoG authors put a disclaimer to show if an IF has A.I developed content in it or not.

You know what, at this point i don't care. I just want books to be finished and not be in development hell for 8 years while the author posts nothing but asks and "world building" and countless "re-writes" while hiding short stories behind paywalls because they like the IDEA of making an IF, not actually making an IF.

As long as the books good (keyword there is good, not slop which will be hard for AI to make on it's own IMO) i dont give two **** if its ai anymore.

Honestly? I don't want it. In terms of writings, A.I is... I'm sorry, a bit cringe. I have my fair share using chatbot and stuff for a while before i dropped it to know how to spot if it's A.I or not. It lacks depth and lacks exploring, and honestly, it repeats gestures. And this sentence often popped up when you're using A.I, "It sends shiver down my/your spine", "They placed their fingers under your chin", "They crossed their arms over their chest", "Mind, Body, and Soul", "Say it you're mine." That stuff. Of course i'm not saying you can judge it was Ai written just because you see once or two of those sentences. But, if it popped out more often to the point the characters only knows how to do that? Suspicious .

If more IFs author used A.I, their whole book would be a string bundle of surface-level characterization and gibberish/jumpy plot instead of really a character and a plot that makes you want to read more and want to know more. You would be left with "What on earth did i just read/play?" after you did, instead of "Is there a book 2 or more?".

I have a gray area with ppl using AI, as long as it isn't entirely doing the job for them, but that's just being lazy, dude left prompt and no proofread? Probably someone looking for some quick cash, subs to pat and all that meh.

actually im just gonna come out and say it was Blood Legacies. idk why i was coy about who it was lol because i think it's even worse if you're using ai AND hiding it. because i looked at their blog and nowhere do they say anything it about it being partially ai. this is what i saw btw, you can see it if you choose to talk to Caio in the latest update

It has already been said that translators were used to be able to translate into English, in some updates it is said what is done, in patreon too. It's written in Portuguese and then translated into English. They even suggested using gramarly and deepl on the forum

Oh, then I guess I have no defense in that other than being ignorant that's good then, at least it's only for translating, i don't have anything against it.

It's kinda sad, I camp on cogdemos and almost every other new IF that pops out has a clearly AI written description. I just skip them
