Just never leveled it up. I mean there are a lot better stats to level up than stealth imo. Not to mention I play an mc who is mostly good though he does sometimes collect "investments" for being a future archon from unaware patrons in return for future protection of the whole empire.

It's because of a coding mishap.
The code checks if you have more than enough score to continue playing and then gives you a gameover instead of the game over section being behind the Else part.

On the contrary you'll need to surge power cores to land a hit,having a focused melee attack helps by giving a battle prowess bonus. The speed would just be for finishing within the required positions to move onto the next stage. Btw if you take out the drake you can't win the race but you'll finish at exactly 39th place giving you two points and the extra one for beating the drake making three points in the first half of the rabbit trial. You'll get four points in the easier second half of the trial and the extra point comes from Kaito it you unravel the soul domain.
So for that person who asked,it's very possible to slay the drake and still get eight points. The only thing you are forgoing is winning the rabbit trail race.
Total breakdown:
2 points for finishing within the first 40 runners.
1 point from Misuka for slaying the drake.
4 points for passing the second stage of the rabbit trial.
A bonus point from Kaito for unraveling the soul domain and saving the other contestants
