Well you obviously did something wrong because the MC is able to enter the Top 5. You probably don't have enough points. Try to gather the maximum of points on the 3 trials ( Rabbit, Dragon and the other I forgot the name) there are other trial points scattered around ( Shocking Leona on the springs, defeating the demonic cultivator ,punching Sakura if you are Midorikatai etc) if you have 25 points you enter the top 5 I believe. The fight with Jack has nothing to do with it.

I'm curious as to just how much of a boost we get to our AP in a gate. Because I was rocking 2200AP and Jack pushed himself up to 6000+ during our fight. (Insane btw)
But there is the fact that players can be much weaker in this scene. Assuming someone only had 1800AP, we're looking at something around at least 3x multiplier I believe.

I did another run with cheat modes on just to see the highest rating I could get and I was one spot behind Jack but idk what I did wrong in my first run, got all the points from the trials iirc + beat Jack's *** but wasn't enough to get in the score
Edit: Apparently not actually I didn't any points in the Rabbit trial, just checked my save
In lore it is two times or slightly above it but it also gives you extreme regen and makes everything easier for you than others lol and then you transformed too that's another ap boost there but overall it is the fact that you are super charged because of the gate to the point it is just not a flat boost as I said so in lore you were actually always on par with him or stronger due to him choosing the gate to fight you and give you the best shot which ended in a draw as we all know but Yeah as jack said beating mc outside the gates apart for jdf would mean nothing to him because even the best narration normal mc is 2500+ ap and jack is 4200 ap base that 6000+ ap jack was transformed only also mc was wrong thinking jack had higher ap than mao there but it isn't MC's fault he hasn't seen mao go all out so that entire scene is from MC's pov and he isn't a reliable narrator.
So yeah even though the gate gave him(jack) more than what a gate normally does to people due to having the same elements as the gate still the advantage was always with the mc, jack only had one advantage due to having the right elements for that gate it was being able to not care about using up all his chi in big attacks (mc could obviously do this too inside the gates)so he could just go all attack that said this fight was going to be tougher but at first it was bugged and even now the damage counter is too easy to hit still it doesn't matter because it was inside the gates so letting it be an easy fight was alright.The fights with Tiger ,Goro and with jack outside the gate will be real hell and that is what we will get later in this book.So basically this was the last easy fight for the game.

Mao is 7000+ ap in base he was 4000 ap when the standard of ap was different back then 10k ap was like 20k ap and that was in early 2024 after that the standard was adjusted and everything was changed.
So no base mao Beats transformed jack no difficulty lol not to mention mao has beaten people stronger than him plenty but transformed jack is still weaker than mao as I said in the other comment mc has never witnessed mao going all out even in base so mc is unreliable narrator there thinking transformation jack had more ap than mao but you can't blame mc for thinking like that plus the gate itself makes it hard asf to gauge the correct amount of ap.

Jack is currently 4.2k AP, and when boosted by his transformation, 6k AP*.
*Note, however, Jack's transformation is still not perfected. He cannot sustain it for long periods of time, max 5 minutes iirc.
On the other hand, Mao is a whole different beast. At his base, he is 7k+ AP*, but this is where things get fun. Mao also has a transformation, and unlike Jack, Mao can sustain his transformation for however long he needs it.
Arguably, however, Mao's biggest advantage is his age and experience. He is in his prime and 200+ y/o. That is 200 years of fighting experience from the Inner Kingdom of the Wild Lands against his peers, not people below him in AP, but straight up equal or above.
*Mao might've gotten a retcon to his AP since I last checked. I haven't been active in the AC server because I've been busy irl.
