Freaky ahh thunderfaller☠️. At this rate I'm surprised you didn't mention the shrinemaiden. Is she on the list too
In the words of Maxor:

I will keep sinning until I am caught.

You know I'm cooked because my literal priority during the chapter 3 hub section is ensuring there's at LEAST 4 months left so my Thunderfaller can go and crack Mina (element? What element?)

Now I'm thinking about it, if you're following the corrupt path this isn't even a lie, you can be literally immortal, and have a infinite supply of Chi as a bonus.
In the Dragon Trial you can get the Blood-Fuel manual of you're corrupt, this manual basically transforms 1 point of Health into 1 Chi. The point is: The regeneration of the Flayed God Foundation transforms 1 Chi into 2 points of Health.
For example, I'm with 1 in health and 1 in Chi, then I use the Flayed God regeneration spending 1 Chi to get +2 Health, now my Health is 3 and my Chi is 0, however, I can trade 2 points of Health into Chi, now possessing 1 point in Health and 2 in Chi that I can trade for +4 points in Health resulting in 5 total points...subsequently.
The better part of this is that the Blood-Fuel trigger the AP gained per wound after each point of health transformed into Chi. Currently there are four techniques in the book increasing the AP gained per wound in +3, therefore in a build focused on that someone could gain +12 AP for each suffered wound. Keeping the example above, here I have 5 points in Health now and 0 Chi, and assuming I have a limit of 10 to each, I'll use the Blood-Fuel transforming 4 Health points into Chi triggering the AP gained per wound, resulting in +48 AP. Then I'll use the Flayed God regeneration again to get +8 Points of health from these 4 Chi, converting again into Chi using the Blood-Fuel, triggering the AP gained per Wound and gaining +96 AP...subsequently
i know the endless beating gives +3 per wound
and fire technique you can get in nanhou,But where else can you get more ap per wound?

Okay, somehow my Mido run ended up with around 3.6k AP by the end of chapter 9, way more than my Aoyu run that managed 2.9k by end of chapter 9.

But then I realized I managed to glitch the game somehow and ended up duping some instances of absorbing a soul treasure.

That, and having Earth element helps because it has a technique that gives you bonus AP each victory, which goes well with the weights. I imagine this could've went even higher had I taken the Mido Archon as mentor.

Hmm.

Also, getting the Titan form for Mido really got me listening to Rumbling the entire chapter 9 fight.

Edit: reloaded a save just several turns back, and now that 3.6k turned to 3k. Guess the Heavenly Code be wildin.

Perhaps it was the AP boost from your transformation.

Aside from those 2 you have mentioned there is also:

-Eternal Warrior, Monkey Yokai racial technique.

-Berserker, Mido technique that can be bought in Nanhou.

So, to get them all you need to be a Monkey Yokai Mido and Fire user that beats the Endless Beating School.

Best styles and background in your opinion?
Background- Merchant or Herbalist

Style- My "main" is Mystic but the edge probably goes to Cursed style ngl.

-It syncs with merchant background which is best if you are going for cycling.
-Picking Kunai as your weapon in chapter 5 let's you get +Stealth while other styles can only get persuasion increase if they forgo weapons.
- Let's you get a technique which gives +5AP every battle in chapter 5.
-Adds an event which gives like +70AP at the start of chapter 6.
-In chapter 6 in that town Guiren "quest" only gives you 80 shards and a poison so comparatively it getting removed doesn't lose you anything.
-Only style,as far as I am aware, to get a free skill increase(perception) when you advance your style for the second time.
-Decreases the skill check and increases the shards gained from pickpocketing in Nanhou.
-Gives you a technique which allows you to dual wield basically giving +AP every battle,+Skill,+element mastery and +Core for free.

Apparently also let's you get the Lightbringer Summoning technique.

Best styles and background in your opinion?
For background I believe there's nearly a consensus that Merchant stand in the top with herbalist "close"(I personally don't consider the gap between herbalist and merchant that close but still).

Now style, my main is Kurokonton because I play corrupt and want to RP the scientist/scholar archetype, also: It's indeed the strongest mechanic-wise as the friend explained above. Midorikatai, in my opinion, follow in second considering it has bonuses in weighted clothes, has precious techniques like Berserker & Energy Gorge, also can gain a +1 craft with Tian Fang...etc.
But overall, mechanic-wise, Kurokonton is the strongest.
