Is it just me or does Eldra just feel like female Angelo.

It's a bit of a letdown if I'm being honest. She has the most boring training montage and is basically just a rehash of Angelo that's more honest about their brand of bullshittery. But she's the only one that lets you break the Mortal Limits.

@cultivator-anon

Bug I was playing as a male and decided to just leave after restraining the siren sect.

Also Serpent's Gaze - seems to be affecting casino loses as well , you lose less money while losing on dice roll
Good catch, it was running <<var $alliesgained + 200000000000>>\ instead of <<var $alliesgained + 300000000000>>\

Saving room on variables by using digits of big ones has been a disaster for readability.

Also the scene where you call li moon labourer ( after failing honour check ) is bolded fully after the check so a visual bug.

Overlapping archetype. Angelo is POMA Jesus, while Jade Dragons apparently are benevolent beings and Eldra is especially so.

But honestly, I'm not feeling it. Eldra doesn't play the 'mysterious wise old man who knows more than he lets on that gives tasks and cryptic advice that ultimately benefits the protagonist' card, and neither does she invite me to drink alcohol and gamble. She's much more straightforwardly good.

She says that jade chi needs a stable body so she just had you rest after having your spirit broken which seems perfectly reasonable. Her harmony training is also basically about being efficient and having perfect execution. Her training seemed fine to me. The mc doesn't need to go through hell every moment when training especially when Kaito puts a hole in your gut and you're committing war crimes with Zhao Yang. And Angelo barely trains us,he basically gives us a crash course on Aoyusumu while we're on a time limit to get to nanhou.

For background I believe there's nearly a consensus that Merchant stand in the top with herbalist "close"(I personally don't consider the gap between herbalist and merchant that close but still).

Now style, my main is Kurokonton because I play corrupt and want to RP the scientist/scholar archetype, also: It's indeed the strongest mechanic-wise as the friend explained above. Midorikatai, in my opinion, follow in second considering it has bonuses in weighted clothes, has precious techniques like Berserker & Energy Gorge, also can gain a +1 craft with Tian Fang...etc.
But overall, mechanic-wise, Kurokonton is the strongest.
mind enlightening me about why merchant is the best followed by kurkoton style?

Also my favorite styles as usual is Aoyusumu
I love the aesthetic of the style as a whole. Funny enough I thought the style was boring when I first played AC but it ended up becoming my personal favorite and my go-to choice. That flashback in the mist chamber when Eldra trains where we use jade chi to bypass the restrictions of using godhand was really creative writing. I can't wait to see what other training we get from her.

i mean you can try making a system of using certain numbers to mean certain things like

11.nameOfVariable
the first digit meaning a variable set in the first chapter (or 0 if it a general mechanic like buying or shard cycling)
the second digit meaning it is to be used long term (i.e failing the deception check and betraying thunderfall)
and the name of cariable is its name

or perhaps it would just mess you up more ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Probably just you ngl.

What does she have in common with Angelo aside from being honorable? 😭
They both have very similar ways of interacting with people. They're both polite, affable people who pretend to be more authoritative and mysterious than their actual personalities and who are rather blase about admitting that fact to the MC.

No but she instead plays the "I am the millenia old dragon and the mysterious agent of the Empire" card just about as often. Her first two scenes in her training are literally her playing those two cards. She makes a whole speech about the bonds of your family and then literally says "Gotcha".

Also, Angelo only gambles to give your character an opportunity to teach gamblers a lesson. And nothing about Eldra's character indicates that she would be against drinking or gambling.

Angelo calmly admitting that he likely would have made up a rug-based analogy no matter which element we would have picked feels very similar to Eldra calmly admitting that she lied about having written the play you watch with her and that they need to book it because the guards are about to be called.

I understand that they are similar archetypes, but I feel like most people wouldn't be able to tell that their lines belonged to two different characters if I scrambled them up and presented them to someone who doesn't remember their lines.

I think it's pretty bad when the Kaido ripoff feels more distinct from Kaido compared to Angelo and Eldra.

The only reason Jade Qi needs a stable body and no other requirements needed for the MC is because anon wrote it that way. I'm not arguing that it doesn't make sense (it's anon's world - he makes the rules in the first place), I'm saying that it's pretty boring compared to the other two methods of training. And then we literally have a single scene that vaguely describes us doing yoga and feng shui.

It's just incredibly underwhelming even with the flashback.

I do think that they feel different enough. Eldra feels like a somewhat playful grandma, but you can guess her age from the way she speaks and how she treats others. In contrast, Angelo is more crass in his lexicon and shows his youth (compared to the 6,000-year-old lady) in being subject to outbursts, not caring that much about the "honorable" thing to do, and taking his facade as a game to play with others (like how he likes when the Thunderfaller continues the bit during their meeting at the hot springs in Nanhou). In a way, while both Eldra and Angelo maxxed compassion, she has a higher honor than he does.

Watsonian vs Doylist strikes again.
