So…given the most recent discussion, it's a hot take to say that I'm fine not ascending if I have Flayed God?
Don't get it twisted; I find the concept of ascension cool, but I feel like MC wouldn't be opposed to the idea of staying with his family here on the mortal plane, and before u give me that stupid reasoning of watching your loved ones die(I swear this is one of the worst arguments people use to dismiss immortality), as I said, the clan is still here; his descendants and any other relatives who join will still be there.
I understand that ascension is the ultimate goal of the story and am all here 🙌 for it, but if the option to stay and take care of the clan appears, I don't think it would be out of character for some MC.
P.S. Please don't cook me in the comments.
Bro you are FORCED to ascend. If you won't you'll get jumped by everyone since you're ****ing up the world.

I mean the only problem i see with it is that the stronger we become the more the heavens would pressure us into ascending.

The whole reason of why the continent is in half ruins is because in the old empire there were so many people (mostly jaded dragons from my understanding) that just stayed at around 20k ap and refused to ascend. The whole thing nearly destroyed the continent and it's the reason why there are so many random islands and why the land looks the way it does, and also is the reason for the pact the heavens made with the jaded dragons where most agreed to ascend and others (like Eldra and mc if you chose the jaded dragon route) agreed to reincarnate instead.

I think dude meant intentionally stopping cultivation just like some top tiers do currently on the planet.

Which could work as an alternate ending. I also don't see a point in ascension if I get immortality already and ascension is basically just another civilization so what is the difference? I don't want to look after a planet...

All that said, I kinda have to ascend because I can't let Jack one up me 😓

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to say. Heaven is just another civilization(a divine one, but still), and if my understanding is correct, once u ascend, you immediately get put to work. Why do I wanna look over other planets? I don't give a **** about them; lemme stay with my family.
