What are you reading? Is it good? Any specific books you're looking for?
What are your favourite genres?

I'm currently reading Dracula, The Templar Papers, The Book Of The Order of Chivalry, Defenders of the West, Horus Rising and Devastation of Baal. I do have Monsters and Mainframes that I swear I'm trying to finish.. but it's a slog man.

I'm amazed if you're reading all of those at once But to add my two cents, I just finished reading Hyde by Craig Russell and honestly, in comparison to The Devil's Aspect, it's dogshit It was so boring, and I guess it's my fault that I had high hopes for it after reading the latter. But oh well, a nice little read I guess.
Also, the genre I like the most is classics, since almost everything being made rn is just tiktok bs slop, the same way IFs are So it's hard to find anything good, but regular drama novels, thrillers and classics are my go to

OH MY GOD YES I went to the book shop the other day and it was a horrifying experience. And don't get me started on that "dark romance" crap, like i genuinely like dark **** but those are just very poorly disguised writers fetishes that they try and play off as deep and meaningful, who clearly have no experience on what they're writing about x.x and if it isn't written by some shut in with no life experience (hey i can say that, i too am a shut in with no life experience but at least i don't pretend to be some deep smart piece of **** lmao) it's ****ing AI bullshit and i say this as someone who doesn't care for or against AI. sorry, mini tangent over x'D

How do you keep up with all that? I feel I would combust spontaneously from trying to remember the plot of more than 2 books at a time. To answer the question, I'm currently going through the Sherlock Holmes books, currently at the second part of The Valley of Fear.

****ing dark romance..... I swear, books and writing is endangered because of retarded ****s becoming "writers", and they do so because they're allowed to do so. They'll just use rape fetish or something, and propagate that **** as "dark romance".... So yeah, safe to say I have approximately 0 good things to say on that specific topic
But the best part is that they're not even deep, they're just retarded. They'll take abuse and whatever the **** else they can of their abuse fetishes, and they'll just to justify it by saying the most basic, dumbass **** that they possibly can, and be like yeah, this makes sense, without that actually making a single bit of sense
Book culture and writing culture needs to be saved, because retards are trying to take over almost every art form

Tbh I don't mind dark romance as a concept, I just see it one type of *orn category for women. I don't like reading it because it makes me uncomfortable, but I also don't hate it. Also books are the primary source of *orn for most women. Yeah a lot of dark romance has r**pe/abuse content, but I'd honestly take that over some of the violent *orn videos I've seen on the internet that happens to IRL women. Because that is just disturbing to me.

Also, I recently finished 'The Wayfinder' by Adam Johnson (it was soooo incredible, yall should check it out.) and I'm currently reading 'Austerlitz' by W.G Sebald. And I hate to say it cos it's pretty well regarded, but it's a bit of a slog so far (45% in)

A Study in Scarlet A. C. Doyle a crime story about eccentric detective Holmes, if anyone didn't know .-. This is a reread, actually. I read the series as a teenager, but it was a Polish translation. I decided it was time for the original language version....Well, 19th Century English is a pain. I've been reading for about two months now and I've reached 62%. I learn a lot of new words only to forget them quickly.
Verismo E.M. Lindsey it's a romance. I normally avoid them but since there is a classical music theme, it's exception. This is the story of two guys, starting when they were toddlers. They are both very talented pianists, one is a famous composer. Their lives seem to run parallel somehow; they both love music, they both have complicated families, they were both born in the same country, then moved abroad and lived in the same country, and eventually ended up at the same university (yeh, very realistic but since when the romance genre is realistic?). However, they both have very different personalities and they have very different lives. I'm currently at 29% (chapter 9) and the MCs haven't met yet. That's fine with me. I don't like it when characters meet at the beginning of the story and (what worse) immediately start flirting with each other. I guess the whole thing you could call sweetheart x grump/ice king I like the story so far, but the actual romance hasn't started... If it gets too annoying, I might not finish it.

There are two other books, but I read them in translation because they are non-fiction - The Habsburg Empire: A New History Pieter M. Judson and
Brilliant Green: The Surprising History and Science of Plant Intelligence Stefano Mancuso, Alessandra Viola. The second one is very pleasant and easy to read despite the complicated title.

A lot of people have compared it to Moana, though it's hardly comparable - Only some part of the book like an island going through a depletion of resources and needing to search for a new place. Just as a warning, there's a lot of s**ual violence, but It's never gratuitous. Also, it's 736 pages but don't get intimidated, the pages fly by, and I even wished I could stay longer in the book.
