i have a question tho.
it seems like every IF Writer on Tumblr know each other to some degree, is it a requirement to be acquainted with everyone since ur equally posting ur work there. it's always been smt I'm curious abt
I don't exist on Tumblr for a while now, but no, it is not a requirement. It's just something that ends up happening; you try to figure things out, you meet some other authors, they introduce you to others, or bring you to the writers if discord, and voila. You suddenly know quite a lot.
I think its a bit clique-y. I've always imagined that as soon as you post a WIP demo introduction post on tumblr or the forums you're dm'd by someone with a practiced welcome and eventually sent a discord invite to a writing server or something. Maybe I'm too cynical. It's also very gross how some of the most well known authors seem to only reblog other well known author's posts. They could be helping out new authors instead.
Yeah, the big authors only play favourites, like a bunch of as*holes. While I was there, I tried to reblog any new person I saw, if they previously haven't gained much traction from being reblogged by other authors.
And even though I'd like to agree just out of spite, I'm afraid that it is clique-y, but not in a way you described. They huddle together, sure, but you don't get a welcome dm by anyone like that, nor the invite. Sometimes that happens, sometimes not, it really depends, but it's not an exact rule
but I'm like 90% certain it's not
And you are damn right about that. God forbid you say anything they don't like or completely agree with, you get ganged up on and many other things. Happened to a few of my author friends
