Do authors need tumblr? and other questions

I think its a bit clique-y. I've always imagined that as soon as you post a WIP demo introduction post on tumblr or the forums you're dm'd by someone with a practiced welcome and eventually sent a discord invite to a writing server or something. Maybe I'm too cynical. It's also very gross how some of the most well known authors seem to only reblog other well known author's posts. They could be helping out new authors instead.
I couldn't say for IF but I would say that I've literally been in fandoms that function that way, the moment you posted your first fic and shared the link on tumblr, you get a link to the discord, and some of them is super gross and clique-y but some have actually been pretty cool so I'd hope if this happens to IF writers, it's a cool one, but I'm like 90% certain it's not

i have a question tho.
it seems like every IF Writer on Tumblr know each other to some degree, is it a requirement to be acquainted with everyone since ur equally posting ur work there. it's always been smt I'm curious abt
I don't exist on Tumblr for a while now, but no, it is not a requirement. It's just something that ends up happening; you try to figure things out, you meet some other authors, they introduce you to others, or bring you to the writers if discord, and voila. You suddenly know quite a lot.

Yeah, the big authors only play favourites, like a bunch of as*holes. While I was there, I tried to reblog any new person I saw, if they previously haven't gained much traction from being reblogged by other authors.
And even though I'd like to agree just out of spite, I'm afraid that it is clique-y, but not in a way you described. They huddle together, sure, but you don't get a welcome dm by anyone like that, nor the invite. Sometimes that happens, sometimes not, it really depends, but it's not an exact rule

And you are damn right about that. God forbid you say anything they don't like or completely agree with, you get ganged up on and many other things. Happened to a few of my author friends

Not all authors are actively speaking with one another. Sometimes they just followed them years ago and like the occasional post. Most authors I follow are offline most of the time and seem like really nice people (but do i know them? no). I do enjoy and find it funny that I know of two authors who actively* dislike a lot of the current top IFs. One outwardly so on their youtube channel and another who slyly does.

*About the sly author. You know when someone says something by not saying anything at all?

If you could dm me both of those, I'd appreciate it. I'd love to have a laugh, but don't want you exposing them to the "spies" on here 😂

As long as you're just there for the show, I'd say it's quite entertaining. But my problem was that I am a very no bullsh*t no nonsense person, and as such I had a lot to say, on all topics 😂

I do not personally know them sadly lol. The way I worded it was apparently personal which yeah looking back it really does sound like I speak with them daily but I've never spoken with them. Just observed. For some reason my brain thought the word of would explain everything.
