Hi! My name is Kessye and this is my first time commenting here. I created an account a few months ago and didn't plan on commenting because I'm kind of shy, but I really wanted recommendations for good games to read! Preferably already finished, I'm tired of finding masterpieces that aren't finished! I like games like Jolly Good Cakes and Ale, Fallen Hero, The Golden Rose, Infamous, Split, Drink Your Villain Juice, and Shepherds of Haven. These are just a few that I've read, and I know they technically have nothing in common, but I think they all have good stories, good characters, and a well written mc. By the way, sorry if I wrote anything wrong, English isn't my first language.

I'd add the Werewolf Series as well as some of the Vampire Masquerade Series too. Also Breach, Life of a Wizard, The Last Wizard.

I wanted to like these... I've already tried some of them and I don't know, I didn't really like most of them. I tried Zombie Exodus and I didn't like it, I tried Wayhaben and I found it boring, it's a kind of comfortable boring so I understand why people like it, but it seems like nothing happens until the end of the game, and the MC is the most useless detective on Earth, I tried Magikiras and I don't know, I didn't feel the vibe, Creme de la Creme didn't resonate with me either (I'll try giving those two a second chance later but for now I'm tired, literally, I spent the night reading) and I tried The Porthecrawl Witness, the story is interesting but it's so boring, it seems like nothing happens, and I wanted to do Asher Dye's route and it wasn't finished. I'm still going to try The War for the West and The Lost Heir: The Fall of Daria. I couldn't find Psy High here, and I totally forgot about Community College Hero and Affairs of the Court, but I'll download those later. There's also Blood Moon, but I'm tired of werewolf, vampire, and whatever else of the supernatural world, so that one's for last.

Maybe try the Infinity series, or Night Road

I had just finished a message for your old comment, so I'll still leave it here. And thank you for replying and reading the message, i know i made it a little long so i'm sorry!
"I've already played Fallen Hero: Rebirth and Fallen Hero: Retribution. They're some of my favorite games, and I've replayed them several times. But I'm desperate for something new to read! Do you have any suggestions for games similar to them? Not in terms of having superheroes or villains, that's the least of my concerns. I just want to play games with emotions, drama, games where the characters seem alive because they're so well-written! The MC in Fallen Hero is the best character, in my opinion. All the choices you can make, the way he reacts to each one, and the emotions he portrays, he's honestly the best."
And in response to the edited version, I think I already tried the first game of the Infinity series, but I was tired and didn't pay much attention to it, so I'll try again and I'll try Night Road too, thanks for recommending it. :)

Hmm, you might like The Fog Knows your name, Choice of Magics, Balance of superpowers 1 and 2, Battlemage magic by mail, Gladiator road to coliseum, Hunter beast of Glenkildove, Midnight Saga the monster and one of my favorites Breach: The Archangel Job.

I forgot to say thank you in my previous message, so thank you for the recommendations and for putting the link to Psy High here too. I played Psy High until the end, it's kind of fun but not very deep in terms of story and characters. I could compare it to Tally Ho and Jolly Good Cakes because all three were made for you to have fun reading/playing, but the difference is that the characters in Tally Ho and Jolly Good Cakes are cool, silly, and fun, all with their own personality, but the ones in Psy High are just kind of there. Anyway, thanks again for the recommendations!

As far as I can see you want recs based on writing quality. It's kind if hard to find Gower-level quality writing in hosted/choice of games in general😅.

Maybe try Bastard of Camelot as well (though it's being milked endlessly while stuck in chapter 5 +the wierd pet route which has been added recently).

Yeah... I can see that, I didn't want to be too harsh in my comments so I didn't say it that way, but seriously, these games are also literature, is it too much to ask that they be well-written? I don't want to play a game where I can make several choices, if the choices don't matter, because the story and the characters a bunch of $&$@%! Why are all the good games unfinished and why are most finished games crap?! That was a rhetorical question, no need to answer. Maybe I'm too autistic for this... and having nothing to do with the subject, but I'm tired of stories about werewolves, vampires and whatever else, why are there so many stories about them?! When I was a teenager I didn't care about this wave of love for vampires that every 15-year-old girl seemed to have, I'm not going to care now! And why are there so many superhero stories too?! It seems like nobody looks for originality anymore when writing! Of course I liked some vampire stories and some superhero stories (my beloveds Fallen Hero series and Drink Your Villain Juice), but I still want more originality. Sorry for the rant, no need to reply, in fact you probably won't, the guy above just liked my comment and I spent about 30 minutes writing and deleting it just to make sure it was perfect. Anyway, thanks for the recommendation! I've already read a little bit of the beginning and it seems interesting, I like the fact that the MC is a bastard, at least it's original.

I forgot to mark your comment, anyway the answer to your comment is the one above, you don't need to read it if you don't want to, you probably won't, sorry I made it too long.

I recommend Season of Shadows
I've already read this one, it's one of my favorites too :) I'd say more about it if I could, but since it was one of the first games of this type that I played, and I started playing these kinds of games at the very end of last year after I discovered Shepherds of Haven (I love this game), I don't remember much about it. But I know it has drama and a good story, and I love that! I'm really trying to remember what I liked about the story. I think I liked the MC's personality too, they're quite... human? I don't know if you understand what I meant, they were just well-written, I think, maybe. Anyway, thanks for the recommendation! Even though I've already read it :)

This is the most refreshing comment I have read in here to be honest. Thanks for taking the time to reply (i can't seem to be able to edit comments on a phone, so sorry for not providing the links.)

This discussion has been held in the thread for 'the stories which dissapointed you" several times now and really it comes down to supply and demand.

Outside of ifcomp games or anything I can find on IFDB, there are no completed games which reach that level (there is chooseyourstory.com as well, but i'd say better avoid the forums and stick to the storygames. The fantasy and historical section has the best stories there).
