I think LB or the dream god mentions that TW's divine spark was destroyed, and that the divine spark is what he formed to become a god in the first place. So without that, he gradually weakens to eventually die. The Heavens was probably playing the long game since they could not outright kill TW. Without his divine spark, TW couldnt maintain his godhood so he concocted the poma project and sent out pieces of himself to form partial clones all over poma world. Of all these clones, only 3 survived. Even then only 2 were suitable for TW's plan, or so it would seem. Heaven's found out about this plan and instead of stopping it, they tried to acquire the chaos origin physique by making MC a soulless husk or an 'angel' while still inside mom. Due to grandpa's meddling and the sacrifice of Chao and mom, MC was able to escape from both the heavens and the influence of TW during his first 19 years of life. Now whether the plan of grandpa was to save MC from TW or the heavens or from both is debatable. But seeing how TW was sure grandpa meddled in his plan, we can say grandpa atleast plotted against TW.

I still dont see the purpose of him making us drink his blood. Then TW allegedly commits suicide. This causes ripple effects and thus ensues the fight among gods and immortals to acquire poma and subsequently his remains.

Butterfly mentioned that his essence was irreparably weakened and that was why he was so weak not his divine spark. If his divine spark was destroyed he would be immediately dead . Again TW was so weak in the POMA world that he never had enough qi to open up a portal and escape.
