Yeah the mc is a fraud to someone like Ruo, rivalry would've been better if they were the same strength as mc until mc surpass them in the end but being second best until like the last half or so of the 3rd book is crap
Exactly. It's like I said before, I think Ro is a good character, but his status and power as a rival are too forced and unnatural. As if the author was casually "buffing" Ruo just to keep him ahead. Which makes no sense.

A good rival doesn't have to be an insurmountable barrier, but rather a source of pressure for the protagonist. A rival can be someone who always ties, always loses, always wins or who varies from match to match. All that is needed is for him to be well-crafted and cohesive, so that the reader is satisfied in victory or defeat. Ruo, despite being a good character, doesn't come across as a good rival.

I’ll never get this fixation with Ruo, like my mc hardly ever interacted with him and find him irrelevant right now. Guess because I play my mc a certain way that I honestly don’t care about him.
Truth be told, I don't care much for Ruo when I'm playing either. I usually ignore him, apart from at the beginning, when I make sure I win the fight so I don't spend money on the pill. I just like to discuss the topic, after all I like to analyze characters from a narrative point of view (a habit I picked up from my teacher a long time ago).

My mc don't care about Ruo I'm talking from a reader's perspective. Look at Jack from AC he's a much better rival
Yes, I think that's the point for all of us. The problem was never that Ruo was too strong, but that he wasn't well constructed or coherent as a rival, which from the reader's point of view leaves a bad taste and makes one lose immersion.

(Honestly, I like Ruo better, but yes, as a rival Jack is much better, more well-elaborated and natural)

Speaking of AC that’s one of my few complaints about Poma, I want to see more of the world yk. We are stuck in the sect for right now, but feels like it’s missing out on so much world lore guessing all that will be saved for book 2. Just feels like AC has more world building and still has the mystery because we still haven’t met the top of the top unlike poma, poma world feels just small to me.

It's kind of funny, isn't it? POMA is much bigger than Aura Clash, but somehow it seems smaller.

To put it philosophically, in POMA it's as if the MC is a bird growing inside a cage full of larger but visible birds, while in Aura Clash it's as if the Thunderfaller is a bird growing as it flies free in a world full of larger but hidden birds.

I really don't understand Nicky, just a month or two before, Ruo when transformed couldn't even handle four PHs while the base MC could handle two. And now, the author says that MC, who is getting stronger faster than everyone, needs to transform to deal with base Ruo but can only run against transformed Ruo.
The PH he faced were stronger and again author wasn't talking about current mc

I don't know, in these types of missions, it's customary to send people of similar levels, apart from the leaders, who were obviously the prince and his two companions, who fought against the Buddhist Yang.

Sure but the relatively weak one among them fought us since we are the lowest priority

Guess it’s different then philosophies by each author more of a show don’t tell vs tell but don’t show. Like we know the top strongest in poma, and honestly I don’t even know if anon has even said the strongest guessing someone from the empire? We just met a Archon I’m ACTUALLY and he seemed super strong but still not even top dog ranked lol, so much to discover. I still love Poma and Mc potential more though

Certainly the MC was a lower priority, which is why there were only two rogues, but we can't assume that they were weaker or stronger.

By the way, "not the current MC"? Did the author said this at the time of the rogue hunt? If so, then it eases my concern a good amount.

Yes, again, it's funny. I have nothing but praise for Aura Clash and Anon, he's really amazing at what he does. And while I have criticism and praise for POMA and Nicky, for some reason I prefer POMA.

Think because we know from Anon Mc won’t be at the top of the food chain, just big fish in small pond type deal.

Also trying to use my Xianxia/wuxia novel knowledge to predict how this book will end. Gonna guess tournament is not being finished since Niki changed it around in a way that was sus to me, Mc will get his true origins exposed and truth about TW plans, and will be hunted in book 2. Rogues will attack and I feel like someone huge and unexpected will die out of the S so we know the rogues are a threat and to add stakes for book 2 since it will be heavily about the war.

Just to be clear, I'm not trying to diminish Ruo's achievement. Fighting two extra opponents doesn't just add to the difficulty, it multiplies it. I just want to say that assuming they were stronger is exaggerating unnecessarily, the feat itself is good enough.

Impressive, I imagined almost the same as you, I just didn't think about some powerful person dying... Maybe the patriarch of the ugly ones? (I can't remember the surname, but one of the main ones)

It would be a twist because think about it no one thinks the rogues stand a chance, not even the players take them as a threat to win against empire. Forgot also about the beasts going wild even Caihong was afraid of something that was coming so yeah.
