I was thinking, is it possible Yang Gan was a rogue agent? he tries to brings Ruo around but doesnt really succeed. Then the rogue fight happens, he pretends to fight them and gives Ruo an opportunity to escape in the end. Thus he was forcibly reconditioned by the rogues. He does say he is emotionless and ends up becoming that as the first. This might be far fetched idk.

I was also considering the possibility that it might be about the strategy from Yue Fang regarding the disruption of the twins' formation. However, I find it difficult to envision how the MC would have the opportunity to talk if the formation was already in progress.
