Since you're on story mode you're guaranteed to just win against everything without much difficulty moon goddess blessings only activates when you 'lose' against the 6
This shouldn't be correct, since in story mode — as far as I know — you also lose against the wolf, right? That's where Long Chen shows up to save them. Also, story mode doesn't change the narrative itself, and when you lose against the six you're only given two options: if you unleash your qi the goddess doesn't appear, but if you choose not to, that's when she should appear. Besides, even in the other modes, if you pass the stat checks and have high HP you still lose anyway, so the mode should be irrelevant because story only let you pass the stat checks.
There was a rewrite, after the expo if your stats are high enough you can basically just end the fights fast and without losing hp, so the moon goddess wont appear due to mc potentially dogwalking the 6
You need 100 for her to give it to you, but like the other guy said if you beat them before you have a chance to choose the "die" option she won't appear.

Has anyone tested out what happens if you pass Dong Xiaotong's strength crit in the tourney? Even my Bodymaxxer playthrough fell short so I imagine its a story mode thing.
After he gets hit with the tile he gets shocked by your strength wondering how youre that strong then he runs away saying something along the lines of "dad was right the world is too scary i need to go back into seclusion"

I expect the wolf scene would be rewritten in story mode. But I guess it didn't. If I was the author I would just stop calling it "wolf" and call it divine beats to at least make it sense why story mode MC lost.
Niki doesn't balance the game around story mode at all because it's just and only a cheat mode where you don't have to worry about mechanics
