"A cultivation manual."
In contrast to his previously obliging demeanor, He Gang shakes his head. "I wouldn't recommend that."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"You probably don't know this, so I'll be kind and explain. Cultivating with a manual is indeed much more effective than what you're doing now, but it also greatly limits you."
"First of all, it changes your qi. The qi you have now is called pure or unattributed. It's suitable for any technique, though the spells produced won't be as strong, and can be replenished from any energy source."
"Secondly, once you cultivate a manual, all your cultivation afterwards must adhere to it. Spells and future Manuals, in case yours doesn't progress to Nirvana Radiance, will need to be suitable - and if you decide to change your path, you'll need to disperse your cultivation completely. It'll only take a day to transform your pure foundation, but there'll be no going back."
"You need a manual that's suitable for you, of high-grade and is an original scripture, for even the most perfect copy will at best be a poor imitation. There's power in the paper, meaning and intent of the creator hidden in the ink." "I can't provide you what you need and that's why you should wait. There'll be an opportunity to get one soon enough."
Two things stand out from his speech. First, is that he knows far too much, and is far too good at explaining it. The way he speaks doesn't sound like youngling that has just learned these concepts himself - instead, he resembles an old, wise master lecturing a student. Are Lady Butterfly's teachings truly that profound?
