I mean, Gameplay immersion ≠ Story immersion. I genuinely believes that the cannon Wu Heir is the Wu Heir who passes all checks, for this, obviously, Story Mode would fit better because it ignores checks.
And talents are a factor too because it influences the narrative, for example, Regeneration, Iron Will, Martial Sovereign, Captivating Beauty, Poison Immunity... In mortal you can't have all at same time.
What I'm trying to say is that, narratively, if we completely ignore the game system itself and focus solely in read, Story Mode should be the cannon. If we're considering GamePlay immersion, then either Heavenly-Earth, keep in mind that Mortal is only overkill if you abuse from the features, And even then you'll inevitably fail checks(150 double Check against Chao, and you must have 150 in base because Nicky didn't added any Combat Menu in the event.)
non-minmaxxed Heavenly MC would be the most canon one if the stat check reductions weren't a thing. I think Nicky should get rid of them and just add +1 extra talent per game mode or smth
I agree. My idea of cannon Wu Heir(GamePlay wise) is possessing the talents we see in Story Mode and not abusing from the game system(Treasure Refining, for example).
Still overwhelming strong(As a son and self of a Deity should be) but not like; "Why my Wu Heir is having problem with Yang Gan if my base stats are 130(Screw this)????"

But narratively, do you believe the cannon Wu Heir is the Wu Heir who passes all checks? Like, ignore check and stats values completely and focus solely on the narrative/read per-se. Do you believe the cannon Wu Heir is the one who pass all checks(Regardless of numbers), therefore, the one who we read about in Story mode regardless ever doing something about the system. Or do you believe the cannon Wu Heir is one that can fail determinated checks?

Yes, I believe Wu Heir is fully capable of failing checks. Since it's entirely possible he just doesn't make the choices that would get him to succeed. As I said earlier, story doesn't make sense for a Wu Heir who always succeeds. Not in writing or inner thoughts of our MC.
Aura Clash is just on another level, a lot of random **** you don't even think twice comes up later and can be important like failing a deception check, I don't know how Anon do it man gameplay wise I think AC is the best IF might become my favorite after this update because the story and lore is top notch as well
It's like when we make a deal with a demon and out of nowhere the demon becomes very important to the story even though it's something very secondary and completely avoidable.
It's unreal how much this Tang Wei clone stuff has ruined our life. Wu heir will never know peace until they become a god lol
Also both Zhong Zhi and Chao caught my heart in this update. Shame there is no longer a happy ending in store for them.

Ai would be more like it but Niki is not putting much effort to make it an obsession for MC like it was for TW. MC is rather chill and enquiring when he can about it.
Ai has weeks to live, going for godhood is not happening anyway. We'll get her out of the ice sooner rather than later.
Speaking of obsession, nicky has been making a case of several characters mention our MC has no drive. I wonder where he's going with that?

No drive and not giving us any options to get it, you could be motivated by power, revenge and a whole lot of **** that happens in the game, but Nicky want wu heir to be a relaxed bum and then you have characters talking about it. You think LB and Dreamweaver would say Ruo has no drive?
