Path of martial arts: leaked sneak peaks, and discussing thread

This point also includes how the MC looks, altough to a much lesser extent. In a world that is immensely obsessed with appearance and aurafarming, it feels odd when everyone reacts in the same way toward completely different looking Wu Heirs. I'm speaking as a player who hasn't played a Fem Wu Heir so I can't say anything about gender variety.
There's nothing on that end. My Wu heir has chocolate skin, curly hair and an hourglass figure. She should stick out like a sore thumb.

Yeah IMO what the game is missing and has always been missing is variety. Be that in choices, reactivity, or paths.

The Wu Heir currently is in a strange limbo where they feel both like a pre-written and blank character. Like no matter what you do, the Wu Heir's personality and internal monologues feel predetermined everywhere except when Nicky straight up gives the options to be evil/good and honorable/dishonorable.

But on the other hand when the Wu Heir does something reactively (without the player's input), it's always some generic non-committed action like stand in place or be afraid. I would agree that after the crit-check update this has improved because now you can have wildly different interactions with characters than normal (for example the Bai Hu tiger fight). If you choose to do so and have the stats you can absolutely behave and roleplay like a complete aurafarmer, or refuse to fight him at all, etc.

My honest and genuine opinion on this is just that Nicky doesn't have enough skill and forethought to write these parts without stepping on the same rake (as goes a famous Russian saying). And this is not me being a dick or being mean—I genuinely believe that once Nicky gets enough practice and finishes Book 1, he will look back on all he did and make Book 2 much better in that regard.

Nicky's strength is, and always has been, the ability to grind and push out a lot of content quickly. He's working on two games for God's sake, while also living his life, and still somehow manages to keep people interested. Not to say anything of the fact that one of the games is already 1M+ words long and the bigger a single IF gets the harder it is to continue due to all the baggage.

When I was actively working on my own IF I suffered from the opposite problem—too much forethought. If you try to map out how everything will interact 5 chapters down the line you will get stuck in a perpetual loop of always thinking of a better idea and end up never writing much at all.

What Nicky could genuinely utilize more to speed up his progress of learning is listening to his community outside of Discord more. Because at the end of the day it is a product that people will or already are paying for, and he does have have to answer for his product.

Because the more I read the thread here the more I am convinced that @cultivator-anon and Aura Clash is basically the idealized version of what the PoMA community could be. Anon is very proactive, even lurking and answering questions here on a pirate forum without so much as an inkling of being salty. Because he knows that people here still will get their hands on his game and since they went through the effort he should probably also consider them as part of his community and listen to their input as well—which he does.

So my point basically is that Nicky needs to get out of his echo-chamber a bit more and be more proactive in what he does to improve the product he is working on and that a lot of people enjoy.

When LuciDio speaks, EVERYONE has to listen

I dont know if Niki has the willpower to not be pressured into writing some of the nonsense the fanbase suggests. I've never been in that position but i imagine it takes a lot of self control to not look at some of **** takes the majority fandom have and take them into consideration so that the authors could please them. Some may have extreme opinions about poma but i genuinely think its a really good IF and it just needs a solid foundation. Its clear from his writing that Niki is winging it after the cultivation world reveal.

I genuinely dont care about the gameplay if its going to make him pull out his hair so much. That said, the crit check update is a really good upgrade to the existing gameplay. Just forget about any more revamps to the gameplay and focus on finishing the first book. He's close to finishing the book and its absolutely redundant to think about making changes to past updates or exisitng content. I know from experience that he's going to feel so much refreshed and gratified when he finishes the first book. I remember the relief, satisfaction and mental peace i felt after finishing academic projects i had been working on cluelessly for months ripping my hairs out, and the final product wasnt even that good. It will give him the much needed motivation and clarity of mind along with a deserved rest to plan the rest of the story.

You can always write around your undesired plot elements in book 1. Writers always do that, and i dont really blame them for doing it considering the sheer size and scale of their work. You need to be someone very good to not have any plot holes or even minimal plot holes in your work. The best works always have them and fans wont really care if they enjoy your work enough. I remember being absolutely baffled after finishing Muv-Luv and barely being able to find any plot hole, and Muv-Luv is massive. It took me like 50-100 hours to finish reading it.

She can suck off as many animals as she likes, I don't care. Nicky is going crazy with it if he's making Tigress go over 150. Muchen level my *** lmao
Not to mention that he nerfed He Gang’s manual. I don’t know, maybe I’m being too harsh, but I’ve been really disappointed by Nicky’s choices lately. It seems to me that he doesn’t actually play the game himself. Seriously, every damned stat point above 75 is a struggle, let alone above 100. Of course, it’s entirely feasible to fight Tigress and win without too much trouble if you use the infusion and berserk pill mechanics, but honestly, somehow it just feels like a bad design to me.

I mean, we’re already seasoned and have enough experience not to find it all that strange, but imagine when the game actually launches and some random player starts out: up to 3v3, everything’s going great, and you’re playing on Normal mode, managing to get through with some difficulty and feeling happy because your MC passed a few stat checks of 80–100, but then, a narrative week later, your MC gets killed by some nobody with a stat check of 120. So the player realises, ‘Hang on? Am I playing it wrong? Everything was going so well and I was making good progress. I’ll go back to the checkpoint and have another go’, so they do just that and manage to get past that random guy, but then, another damn narrative week later, the stat check that pops up is set at 150–190. That’s an absurd difficulty spike that isn’t even remotely justified.

I'm just waiting for the dream event that gives us a free +50 in all stats so everything makes sense again.
