But the person controlling it seems to be a very powerful individual, and frankly, it's excellent for someone not allied with Lady Butterfly and the Tang Empire.
The person controlling the zombie body is a nirvana radiance demonic soul cultivator. For someone as insignificant as that ant, you should be able tell his exact power level at glance junior, It seems you have been slacking off.
I'd consider the dude more dangerous to ally with than both of the people you mentioned so this is a little strange to hear.
Anyway, he doesn't seem to want to be found out in that zombie body and Nicky won't let us call him out so it is what it is.

Well, this devil is very powerful, man. He's terrifying, and I love the moments when he appears, but for him to control my personality is going too far.
Don't think Shengjue is a NR though. Given he says his soul is at its very infancy in the POV, I'd assume he is a NS.

Yes, in the POV. As explained, once a cultivator reaches the NS stage their soul is effectively born, and the cultivator can begin a path separate from actual cultivation.
NS is considered the first immortality of a cultivator because even if the cultivator's body get destroyed, his soul still existing, and the said cultivator can use it to possess someone. And that's exactly what Shengjue is doing here, in a place of guaranteed talent(Divine-Grade Bloodline), searching for a body of high purity to possess so he can pair the Body path with his soul, as he said, the previous ones he had were weak, and his personal(Shengjue's) Dao talent is poor.
As for the second part, Soul is a separated path. Just like you can have a NS cultivator with a One-Star body, or Soul experts whose destroy their own Dantian & Body to focus entirely on the Spiritual path, as LB said.
Shengjue is in a One-Star/Qi-Gathering body but already has his soul out the Heavens grasp and the abilities consequent of it, but, as shown in his POV, his Body at its current(One-Star) state cannot stand the uses of the said abilities, even though Shengjue can just easily heal himself after due to the body being a 91% Purity Divine-Grade Bloodline.
Actually, this is the bit that confuses me. I mean, if he already possessed powers from higher Realms and the types of Cultivation are independent, what difference does it make whether he’s in a 1☆ body or not? Shouldn’t he be able to use what he has without any problems, just as a pure Qi Cultivator can cast spells from higher Realms even whilst in a mortal body?
So how weak is he now that hes destroyed his body and is only alive in soul? And whats up with the six desires stuff? multiple personality and all that. As six desires, its clear hes stronger than Wu Heir and Ruo combined. He was weak when he was Yuan Fang and decides to use his token when he's almost in deaths door due to Chu Muchen beating him up. He doesnt seem that strong except for his mind attack when he's in He Gang's body. We dont know yet how strong he's in YG's body. How is all these three different from the six desires? They're the same person right?
His potential will be greatly limited. LB talks about this i believe. That a good foundation and body is very important in the long run. If he recultivates in 3 or 4 star body, he'll probably be way more stronger in NS than he was in a 1 star body. Especially a body made of god blood.
The thing is we don't actually know what cost or requirements are involved when using soul power at lower realms, we are aware that qi power and physicality are their own things but I would assume soul abilities must take cost a person something either mental strength or physical exhaustion when used below the nascent soul since you are still flesh and blood. Unfortunately we don't know enough at this point to definitely say since Fang only briefly talks about it.
I don't know either, could be because an pure standard cultivator can use raw Qi to increase their physical prowess to par the spells temporarily. But again, as LB said, there are spiritualists out there that destroyed their own body and I doubt they have any problem casting their spiritual abilities. Probably because they are only soul/spirit, meanwhile a weak but existent body will suffer the drawbacks of the use of the soul meanwhile the soul won't?
I don't know really, despite the theories. Maybe Nicky will detail it more in future. Nonetheless it's in the book so it's a fact that Shengjue cannot use his spiritual abilities fully without causing his body to crumble.
Shengjue didn't destroyed his body or Dantian. I just used an example to show how the three paths are independent.
Shengjue actually possessed He Gang(And wants YG) exactly because he wants to pair his Body path to his Soul one.
And yes, Six Desires is Shengjue, one facet of him, as shown in his POV he has multiple facets, including He Gang.
