Yeah, it's been a hot minute(years) since I last played it, so I can't exactly comment on the specifics on this. I do know choosing one path makes saving your RO basically impossible. Perhaps that's what they meant?

There is Dei's mod for it but I cannot remember if it has save slots, most likely not. So yeah...
