No, yeah, I do agree with you, but I don't think that that's why people are mad. You see, as far as I know, I've read a **** load of IFs, and I can't recall a single one, that could even be remotely considered a "male focused" IF. Like, zero. Though I may be wrong, so take it as is.
And also, I think that straight men are getting tired of it, and for a good reason. Aside from what I mentioned above, and this is also just my opinion, which may or may not be, the way I see it, all those wet wipe MCs, I think that writers of those have that "damsel in distress" trope in mind. Meaning, ideally, they would have a female MC, and a macho RO would come to the rescue, guiding MC by the hand. Though, as I said, I might be wrong on this.
I think that straight guys who are also reading IFs are seeing this, and after so many years, are starting to become fed up with it. Oh, and also, this mostly goes for textual IFs and VNs. I'm not counting actual games that are full fledged playable games, that could also be put in the same space. I'm just talking about text based IFs and VNs.
Still, as you said, not every game is for everyone, but I think it would be neat to have games for everyone, instead of just mainly focusing on certain groups. And yes, I do understand that most IFs can be considered games for everyone, but what I mean was to create a balance. Make more things for men, make more things for those who don't care about romance, don't just focus on one side, but focus on all sides. Because if that was the case, then whoever says anything about the topic could be called a hypocrite, since there would be something for them all out there.
Thank you for listening to my TedTalk :ROFLMAO:

‎“Zero male-focused IFs” is a wild claim. That sounds less like an actual observation and more like you only notice things that cater exactly to your preferences and ignore everything else.

‎Also, the whole “writers secretly want damsel-in-distress female MCs” thing is pure speculation. You’re basically inventing author intent to justify being annoyed at stories that don’t center you. That’s not really an argument, it’s a guess.

‎And let’s be real: customizable protagonists and inclusive options exist so more people can play, not so straight men get pushed out. If anything, you still have access to all those stories, you’re just not the only target audience anymore.

‎Wanting more variety is fine. Acting like there’s some kind of shortage of male-oriented content, or that inclusivity is the problem, just doesn’t hold up.

‎ Not everything needs to revolve around straight male wish fulfillment and the fact that it doesn’t anymore isn’t some kind of injustice.

Yet you proceeded to give 0 examples of those, but worry not, since I'll give you a few. Disregard AC and POMA, and maybe a couple of others, and you have zero. What I was trying to say, is that they cater to everyone but them, and I was correct in that, so say what you will on that topic.

Unless I'm proven otherwise, a trope where MC is a little ***** can only be so many things. And if that happens time and time again, in 97% of ifs, yeah, not many other deductions can one make from that. Because afaik that's not a genre, but a specific trope that I mentioned, and it happens waaaaay too often to just be a coincidence.

I know, and I've no problem with that. But as mentioned somewhere else, most of those have female mcs in mind, and do the whole customizable mc just so they can reach a wider audience, even though they leave it feeling like a game meant for everyone but straight men. Or men in general, for that matter.

But it does hold up when that's just how it is. And as I said, unless you use examples for these claims, they don't hold much water themselves.

Never said that it does. Nor have I said that it's some grand injustice, I was just pointing out the obvious, while saying that they should add stories for us as well, not that they need to focus on those, disregarding the rest.

Your move 😂

Just as people complain on here that people add too many diverse characters into their games despite not experiencing or having knowledge before writing those characters, writing straight men experiences, especially in games where that is the only experience, wouldn't make much sense for many of these authors you're complaining about. Most are women and not straight men. So they would not be interested in making games solely for that experience and they probably wouldn't get much right either. I promise you many IFs just make what they want to see based off of their own experiences and interests and do not have it out for straight men. Also, I cannot give you any recommendations for IFs where the focus seemed to be on a male main character who is specifically supposed to be straight but they do exist. You seem to be looking to the wrong authors and hypocritically telling them to add straight male experiences while at other times denouncing them from adding diversity while also asking for them to make games solely for straight men.

As for recommendations, the only IF I've played that felt too...I guess written for straight men, would be Fallen Hero. I tend to avoid the games I know I just wouldn't be interested in but Fallen Hero didn't seem like it was only written for one demographic and for the most part it isn't. I know this is probably confusing for a lot of people but as a woman there were a lot of things that just didn't suit my tastes and felt distinctively male (as in suited for a male audience) when I played. The main reasons would have to be the overall flat tone of the writing that Fallen Hero and it's author use and the misogyny. When I got to the part of book 1 right after ridiculing and humiliating Ortega and Daniel just to see that the MC can humiliate Angela through sexually harassing her (stripping her of her suit)? While I understand that the author clearly wanted to show just how evil Sidestep can be there is really no excuse for Angela being the only one in the cast who you can humiliate in that way while also being one of the only or only woman in any given scene. I know this goes against what most people think because the game has a gay RO and a trans RO but it also lacks in a lot of ways. I left the 2 games feeling sad that I had so many issues with them despite everyone else loving them.

No, I know that this is how it is. I'm not saying anything against that, and you are right. And I wasn't trying to just **** on all of them, I was just saying that hey, there's not much content that's catered for them, hence why it is alright when guys point that out. I also explained how it would be nice to see more of it, but you are right, and if the majority is women writing ifs, there'd be no point, since they wouldn't be able to capture it, buuuuuut. afaik Fallen Hero was written by a woman. Still, that's because she is a good author, unlike many of the current writers who are trying to create ifs.
My comment was an answer to some girl on here that said that she just waits for men to ***** about having gay mc or something like that, because everything has to be catered to them, hence my reply from above and before. I wasn't even arguing a point, just pointing out the falseness of it through various examples and povs😂

Why don't you write an IF? I mean if you believe that there isn't enough male focused experiences in the IF universe maybe you can help to remedy that.
Also I thought the author of the Fallen Hero series was a queer man.
