Update: The Golden-Eyed Raven (Chapter 2A Part 1[47K])

Features:

- Meet the mysterious merchant.
- Investigate Wendell Auction House and Eldergrove Medical Institute.
- Bump into Ezell.
- The option to go to the library is unavailable for public demo and will only available if you ask the Count a specific question.
- Depending on how you handled the Count's interrogation in chapter 1, some players may need to investigate the auction house first before unlocking the med institute. But just in case your option to investigate the institute is available from the start, please choose the auction house first. That's because the current public demo ends midway through the institute investigation.
- You can play as non-binary now.
- Added some new choices in prologue and chapter 1A (you can choose to believe in Aeren's ability to create the flying robe now.)
 
Update: The Mark of The Devil

The update adds 24k new words and concludes the homestead route.



Updated Summary:

The year is 1722. A pestilence known as The Rot plagues the New World, and the Witch Trials have been raging for 3 decades. You are an indentured servant of the Church, seeking an unattainable penance for a sin that cannot be undone; a pact with the Devil, sealed with blood on the eve of your 13th birthday.

In an attempt to save a child's soul, the Church calls upon you to help save a possessed boy, which thrusts you into a perilous adventure that can determine the fate of the New World.

You will have the chance to perform an exorcism, travel west across a Rot-infested colonial America, choose who joins your group, and fight to keep them alive. You will have to face human foes along with devils, demons, and creatures of American Folklore.

The demo features 73,000 words, with the second chapter still being written. Play as either male or female at the start, with additional gender options available later. You can customize your character's appearance, personality, and sexuality. The game offers two romance options, both of which are gender-selectable.
 
Update: Deux A Deux (Chapter 2)

Features:

- Take on some new job responsibilities…for a few weeks, anyway.
- Hone your boxing skills! (You’ll need them.)
Cross paths with a certain red-scarfed stranger again.
- Design a cocktail menu, picking four drinks from a list of fabulous options (in my not-so-humble opinion) OR choose the theme for a large event.
- Get to know the existing cast of characters a little more.
- Get to know some new characters—most of whom you’ll meet under less than ideal circumstances.
- Find out just how deeply enmeshed you’ve become in something way above your paygrade.

This update comes with a patch (Version 1.3.4) but you will not need to start a new save file. I've updated the neocities page so it's now actually has a game page and is not just the game file itself.

A/N: hi friends! been a while!!

i feel like i don't have much to say about episode 05 other than i am extremely proud and exhausted. i did not plan on writing this much and to take this long but hey-ho, we are finally here!

i think this is the heaviest chapter so far when it comes to crew interaction which i am excited about. there are many chances to gain friendship points as well as them actually counting towards variations and scenes towards the end. but, of course there's always the option to not get along with the crew too...

very excited for how that's going to play out in the future. we're getting there, slowly but surely, let the mc downfall begin.

- Edited/rewrote the post-bar scenes. Felt like it needed some refreshing.

Rewrite: Anything For The Crown

A/N: Just finished part 1 of the chapter 2 rewrite. Added new stuff, like expanding the flashback with Soren. Adding choices to boost a skill. The scene with Isoldes' ladies is now optional, too. You don't have to join them if you don't want to, but be warned that this will lower the relationship with them. not by much though.

I also added a new little choice in Lucian's scene.

Part 2 of Chapter 2 will be out whenever I write it. Could be next week or it could be June lol.

What's Changed:

If you played the original Chapter 1, you'll notice this is essentially a different game. The original came in in at 26k words, the rewrite is 469k. The prose has been overhauled from the ground up, with richer writing, deeper characterisation, and far more branching to reflect your MC and their choices. Scenes that existed before have been rebuilt rather than revised, and there's a significant amount of new content that wasn't in the original at all.

What Happens:

Arrive at the villa and meet your fellow islanders one by one as they enter.
A one-on-one conversation with one of the nine other islanders before the coupling, who you spend that time with is your choice.
The coupling ceremony, where you'll be paired up for the days ahead.

Word Count:

469k words total (+443k from the original Chapter 1). Individual playthroughs are a fraction of that, the word count reflects how much the content branches to account for your choices and your MC.

A note for returning players: Chapters 2–11 are no longer accessible while the rewrite is in progress. Chapter 1 is the only playable content for now, but it's a much more substantial Chapter 1 than the one you remember.

I didn't know what to expect in the rewrite but God the amount of AI slop is concerning.

A/N: Hello, hello, as I said earlier this week, the update is here! The demo is up to 43k words (22k new words!). That's bigger than the size of the initial release!

Lots of new scenes and talks to be had.

In this update, you can:

Update: The Abyssal

A/N: It’s been a long time coming, hasn’t it? I managed to catch a breather at work and poured that time straight into writing so I could wrap this up as I promised. 🖤👻

With that said, let’s take a look at what’s new in this update:

💀 The second part of chapter three is here. It has nearly 25k words of brand-new content.
💀 First glimpse of the Prince/ss of Solaris (poor Nick, I apologize).
💀 Dear Éoin takes care of Death, or at least tries to.
💀 New choices focused on Death's new dominion and A LOT of variations.
💀 Fixed typos and tweaked a few scenes for better flow.
 
Update: Party Of Four

This update has the first half of Sentari Day Two (of three). It's roughly 40k words, and brings the game to about 46k words per playthrough.

In this update you'll:

- Start the morning with Miriyam
- Reunite with or meet Vana
- Meet your class Master
- Train your specialization or skip it entirely

There's quite a lot of variation packed into this section, so please don't mind that the word count doesn't seem to align with the number of events haha. Part two will be some more shopping and interactions with Sweets and Maymie, so I'm looking forward to writing it! 🫡

Edit: I updated the itch.io link! I'm sorry it took a bit. I was burned out and for a moment I completely forgot how to compile the game lol.

As for what is included in the update:

A/N: Hi, everyone! It’s a week late (I’m so sorry about that), but it’s finally finished. At the time of my last post, the update was sitting around 25k-ish and somehow, it’s now at 35,554k. I don’t understand how or why I did that, but /shrug, lol. This brings the demo to 249,066k words (if my math isn’t abysmal). The update has a couple of bug fixes that have long been needed. A bug with the foreign affairs specialization for Guardians, an issue with an emotion stat saying the MC used magic rather than physical when dealing with the insurgent and some incorrect gender variables.

It took some time, but I included a prologue skip. Because of the heavy customization at the start of the game, It’s been added right after, just before your very first day of class. Using the feature will allow you to bypass everything up until orientation at the G.A. I’ve included the major choices, but I’ve not added anything off the beaten path. Extra relationship improvements from individual conversations (the relationship boosts will come from time spent for your lesson and for the canterberry festival—I may change that), additional stats from the market (including the destiny choice), hidden stats for more detailed customization, etc.

You can still create a custom character and test different affinities, relationship stats and other, broader gameplay features. It’s just that the smaller details will be missed.

There are a couple of hidden branches in this update that require specific romance flags, friendship flags, or vary depending on customization choices. I think the best way to get the most out of it is by playing with the skip feature. I’ve been testing the game all night and I’ve been able to play it through without issue, but anything could happen.

Update: Guardian of Time (Chapter 4.2)

A/N: Chapter 4-2 is officially released on COG demos for the public. This update is mostly focused on chapter 4-2, but also includes a lot of minor typo/grammer things from previous chapters. THIS MEANS THAT ALL SAVES WILL BE BROKEN as every scene file has been modified. There is still the option to skip ahaead to begining chapter 4 which should hopefully make this less frustrating.

In this update you can:

- Go on your first dragon seeker mission
- Establish MC's fighting style
- Have a training montage
- Flirt with Sentinel (or annoy him)
- Meet a cult leader
- And lots of other things.
 
New IF: Mahogard

Mahogard. The city of mages. The capital of Hanfald. And your current place in the world.

Mahogard is an interactive fiction game set in a fantasy world, in the country ruled by mages. With conflict between mages and non-mages growing out of control, you get mixed up in power struggles between political factions.

At some point there might be dragons.

When Hanfald fell prey to dragons and other legendary creatures that started appearing out of nowhere 200 years ago, it was the mages who saved the country and managed to fight off the beasts.

It made sense back then to shower them with privileges as a thank-you for their heroism and as a thank-you-in-advance if the Pandemonium were to happen again.

Well, during those 200 years, the Pandemonium never happened again, while the privileges remained very real. And increasingly burdensome for non-mages.

As the day of the royal election is drawing nearer, you are thrown into the middle of political games of factions vying for influence.

Well, at least now no magical beasts are trying to destroy the country...

...right?

- Choose one of 3 available ancestries (humans and two fantasy ancestries: delga and kadari).
- Choose MC's gender and appearance.
- Choose whether your MC has magical powers or not.
- Choose one of 3 available classes and 9 specialisations.
- Experience one of 6 playable backstories depending on other choices.
- Through your decisions, shape your MC's stats and traits that will influence your gameplay.

Engage with the story:

- Influence the country's future by cooperating with one of political factions... or not.
- Create the best future career for your MC... or become a failure no one has seen before.
- Save the country from dangerous beasts (in both literal and figurative sense)...or let it be destroyed.
- Make friends or enemies that might help you with all the above... or try to achieve it by yourself.
- Make the disparities between mages and non-mages shrink... or become greater than ever.
 
Update: Cantata (Chapter 6)

A/N: This chapter adds another 45k words of content, bringing the grand total to 230k words.

I can’t express how excited I am to be releasing this chapter! Not only does it feel like the culmination of my original concept, but also a brand new beginning. ❤️

As previously mentioned, there’s going to be a longer period between this and chapter 7. The next two months will be a struggle for me, and I’m happy to be able to share this chapter with you now. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
