New IF: Survival of The Fittest

In the Duchy of Vespyr, House Talyn rules with an iron fist. Terror at their very name permeates throughout the land and heads duck at their mention. And they rightfully should. After all, Vespyr’s ruler and heirs are gods among men, creatures of eternal life who feast off of the blood of their lessers.

“Vampires,” people whisper, their tones equal parts terror and awe.

You are a young villager from a settlement near Castle Vespyr. Every three years, your village selects two sacrifices to offer as servants to your lieges. When you and your little brother, Julian, are chosen as this period’s sacrifices, you are condemned to certain death.

As you leave for the stronghold of your overlords, you are sure that your days will be short and miserable. You can only hope, at least, that your deaths will be quick. But then you catch the attention of the volatile vampires who rule you. And all of a sudden, both you and your brother’s survival – or your agonizing deaths – might be in the cards.

Survival of the Fittest is a dark romance. The love interests are cruel, self-interested, and brutal. They are truly bad people, and their treatment of the MC is far from the hallmark of a healthy relationship. Understand this going in.

A/N: After dropping Survival of The Fittest for a several reasons (one being academic pressure and others that I, for now, am deigning to keep private), I have decided to bring the project back. It is very near and dear to my heart.
 
Update: Crimson Hydrangea (Day 3)

Day 1+2 Updates:

- Updated Content Warnings!
- Fixed some minor typos and programming fixes.
- Marcelo's coworker finally has a sprite!

Day 3 Update:

- Days 1 + 2 had about 35.5k words and Day 3 ended up having 50k words! That gives us a total of about 85.5k words! I believe that translates to about 6-8 hours of gameplay if you explore all of the branches/routes.
- There are 60+ new backgrounds (Including alternate versions).
- There are 25+ new illustrations (Including alternate versions).
- 3 new npcs.
- New animated backgrounds.
- There are over 100 new sprites (Including new npcs)!
- Unique routes for each of the characters.

Rewrite: The Fruit of The Damned (5k words)

A/N: As mentioned in my previous post I’m rewriting everything i’ve written before and decided instead to upload it in small intervals rather than large 50k+ chapters.

This demo includes the prologue and a little sneak peak of chapter 1!
 
Update: The Iron King's Heir

Features:

- Added a hand ax option (for the purpose of dramatically throwing across rooms of course).
- Continued revising Osdric's speech scene
Added two new checkpoints (one in each chapter).
- Finished adding a choice repetition mode to Chapter 1.
- Fixed a few player-reported typos.

A/N: I've also finished adding in an experimental choice repetition mode to Chapter 1. You can toggle it on via the stats screen and the game will repeat your last choice to you in italics before continuing the narrative. Whether or not I continue doing this for future chapters depends on how well received the Chapter 1 version is.

Next Patreon update is planned for June 12, with the next public update four weeks after that (July 3). That one will be a lot bigger :)
 
Update: All That Glitters (Chapter 4)

A/N: Because writing branching code requires an alarming amount of coffee, I’ve decided to open a small Patreon for the game!

Update: A Tale of Crowns

With this update we're continuing the pilgrimage, which is turning out more dangerous than even the Crown and their companions anticipated:

- The Crown will be revisiting an old place they had forgotten about, and learn more about the scars left on the land from the reigns of Crowns past.
- Whether you brought the water spirits with you or whether Eshkar is also there or not will give you additional variations and, depending on one choice you make this chapter, may lead to someone getting hurt.
- There will be more lore on the religious practices of Arsur, and an opportunity to customize your Crown's religious beliefs as well.
- A dangerous encounter shakes things up this chapter--is it a test of the spirits, or just bad luck? Either way, how your Crown handles this situation will not go unnoticed!
- And last but not least, romance scenes with your chosen love interest, though the tone of these will be quite different considering the previous encounter...

✮ CHAPTER 5: 230K WORDS ✮

The cast of BotB season four has touched down in a new state: Ohio! That's right—they're infiltrated G's backyard (and maybe someone else's?) Unfortunately, the rockstar isn't happy about this development considering the people who have decided to show their faces here. Meanwhile certain rumors are tainting the BOTB brand while the home lives of the ROs are starting to creep up on them. Will there even be a tour? Who knows?

As usual, MC remains in the center of it all. Their plans for their future comes into question when they're forced with new faces and possibilities. That is…if they even have a career by the end of this. For some MCs they should probably keep in mind to think with their head and not their…you know!

I'm calling it an alpha demo because, and not to get all sad and lame, after the death of my family member I did not feel like adding more to my plate (aka beta testers). Writing took up much of my time already and it just hasn't been the right time to include other people into the process. Of course, that must change, and I will be getting beta testers soon now that the alpha is out. As always, the chapters are subject to change and improve as time goes on.

A/N: The newly edited chapter 3 has now been added to the public demo. There are many re-written scenes, and some completely new scenes. (I recommend checking out Quinn's former lover branch!)

Also, for your information, the Patreon demo is already at the last chapter. I'm going to finish this thing! 💪
 
Update: Blood of The Living (Chapter 9)

A/N: As announced at the beginning of the month, you can now play the entirety of Blood of the Living's ninth chapter, which as it so happens is the penultimate one.

Basically, some stuff happens, and then you can have some feelings about it. Or, if that stuff doesn't happen for you, you can have feelings about other stuff that's already happened. Or both. Feel what you feel, deity of Spring. Who knows? Maybe some of the characters will give you even more things to feel some kind of way about.

I'm no good at advertising, but as always, I hope you enjoy it. :)
 
Update: Mad Heir (+ Mini Game)

A/N: Had to clear up several pieces of messy code for Mad Heir, and now we've gone into the public version (which isn't a lot- I suck) but the mini game has been tightened up.

There is still no discernible "end" to the mini game, there is also lots of my own coding notes in the game, esp if you get "caught" and when you find the key to open the library door. I have to finish those, I have to do more flavour text, etc etc.

Summary:

Something is brewing in Eden City, Terra Nova.

You're not sure what, exactly.

Tensions between rival companies are rising to a fever pitch. Hostile takeovers have started to become the rule rather than the exception. Assassinations—both attempted and completed—on corpos are dominating the news.

And the gangs are following suit. The Cardinals and the Eastside Justicars are gearing up for an all-out war. And they're not the only ones. Word on the street says that the Kawada Matriarch is planning something that could shake up the very foundations of the city.

And something strange is going on within Barghest Security; something that relates to your siblings and cousin.

Something that's starting to stink of a boardroom coup.

Features:

- Choose between first person or second person narration.
- Semi-set MC. Customise their gender, sexuality, appearance, and first name. Or bypass all of that with the canon Velychko.
- Befriend, romance, or make enemies of five different characters: the company driver (M/F), a paramedic (F), a stripper (F), a mechanic (M), or an employee of a rival company (M). And who knows? Maybe if you play your cards right, one or both parts of the dynamic duo might be interested.
- Asymmetric relationships. Just because you like someone, doesn't mean they'll return those feelings. And just because you hate someone's guts, that doesn't mean they're not secretly in love with you.
- Follow the company line, or turn your back on your family. Or get ahead of your siblings—play your cards right, you might just get away with a little fratricide.
- Multiple planned endings.
- Oh, and: try not to get everyone you love killed.
