Putting this out there, both for the curious ones, and for the IF writers who are lurking here on a daily

It has come to my attention that I've been noticed by the latter from the title, and so I wished to make this thread. Mainly because I don't know how to just make a singular post, or if that even is a thing here. But I digress.
Those folks don't like me now, that much I can guarantee, and are probably busy discussing anything I've said on here today. Here's the solution though.
From the way I see it, and I'm talking to the writers here, there are two options that you're being presented here.
You can either A) Discredit me by proving me wrong, which I'm honestly cool with. Sure, everything I said may just become nothing more than gibberish, but in return, that means that folks here, along with your fans on Tumblr and wherever else, will actually get the works that you've promised them. The works that are the sole reason why they are following you, and spending their time on you.
Or, there is option B) Proving me right, which isn't that favorable for you, but it is what it is. As for me? I find this to be a win win scenario either way, so let's see!
I'm doing this for people on here, but also for the people who don't visit this site. Not really leaking, just being useful.

L was a true soldier, for all he did. I mean, he's the only guy who actually stood for ****, even when it didn't benefit him. He is an inspiration to me, and have actually been the reason why I decided to start spreading the information, that's honestly general in nature, since anyone can see what I'm saying but only if they view it from the right angle.
In his name and legacy, I'll continue with this, just so he'd know that there are people in his corner. And from his post, and what he said, he's not even the only one who got the short end of the stick. As it turns out, all of those anons who were talking about writers leaving the space, leaving their projects abandoned? Seems like other authors are the reason for that, more so than the readers and trolls.

This is something that I've also been wondering, and if anyone could explain it to me, it would be appreciated.
The example below is just one of many, but like, why do people pay so much for smut? What happened to your original works, developments for that?
Now, I'm not saying that the story in question isn't being developed, but why milk fans like some cash cows? Because that's the thing, writers start a project, open a Patreon, and the moment some money starts coming in, they transition to Patreon exclusively, usually ditching the original works, or slowing down the process to an extreme. I would be fine with that, but if the perks were like DLC content, or something actually unique, some side story exploring different POVs or something, but nope. The wave of tiktok, "dark romance", and whatever else smut. I mean, **** is free. You don't have to pay for it, so why do it? Maybe it's self insertion?
Could be I guess, but honestly, I miss the days when things made sense, and weren't just easy cash grabs because *** sells.
Though, despite how it may seem, I do have hope for the new writers. Or at least, some of the new ones, since this to me looks like a transition period in the IF space. God, I sound like some analytic of IFs ffs xD

Yeah, I messaged them privately because I thought maybe it was widespread news and I was too embarrassed to ask. But seriously, what happened?

What's going on?? If this is who I think it is about his blog was up a few days ago. I had no idea anything was happening or that his blog was gone until seeing this.

Eh. I’m kind of half and half here. Does it suck when authors don’t post their updates after a month or hide the good things behind a paywall? Yes. Is it annoying when they don’t ever publish their works and instead get stuck in Patreon limbo forever? Double yes.

But at the same time, forums like this exist where we can usually find that stuff for free after a certain time. And CoG quite literally offers their authors absolute crumbs compared to the huge slice of pie they take without a shred of decency.

I can’t blame authors for sticking to Patreon and making the most they can with the characters people love and will pay them for, or losing the desire to publish their works because they’ll be losing more in the long term. Until CoG stops treating their authors like cash cows and gives them true incentives, we’ll continue to see this behaviour. Especially the more expensive life and time becomes.

I hope you don't mind me asking for context? What is going on exactly😅?
I created this thread to inform. Nothing more, nothing less 😂 Just another individual who wants to see the IF space grow, instead of everything disappearing, leaving us all with continued disappointments

Absolutely! I agree with you on that, but that's the thing. I understand monetizing things, and I'm cool with that. Everyone who cracks things actually is, and there is a code of honour there. But the way I see it, is that there should be a donation thing, just how Itch has that name your own price if you want option. Also, I'd suggest everyone ditching working with CoG in the sense of making money through them, because yeah, they do bleed authors dry. In a way, that is, since I know of some word through the grapevine of deal being made behind the scenes.
So I say, sure, monetize it, but don't **** on people who are the ones supposed to give you that money. Ditching the original works that people came for, just so they can read smut related to those works is not the way, and it should be seen as such.
Little tip jar? Support how much one can support? I'm all for that. Play it for free, see if you like it, and then throw a couple buck if you want. And if not, it's cool. The truth of the matter is that it is inevitable that leaking will happen, so best adapt with it, finding some common ground, rather than trying to fight it. These are my views at least

So to whoever wants to freely discuss things and ways that it can all be improved, feel free to join this thread! I welcome all who join in on the fun🐍

Aaand this is how I found out that his blog is gone (unless there are two different users named thus who deleted their blogs recently). If this is the person I'm thinking about; I had some really nice interactions with him, so it's a shame. Idk what happened though, I've not been following any tumblr drama for a while.

Not sure if there are multiple Ls out there, but I was talking about my good friend L, the one who made IFs. The gist of it is that he was sick and tired of like 90% of IF authors who were harassing him, simply due to him being of different opinion then them. Though I must say, I believe that I'm to blame for the **** that he's gotten at the end, but when I talked to him, he said that it was all good and that there was no reason for me to apologize for their shitty behavior. He actually seemed quite content with it all, but that's not my story to tell.
And if you wish to follow him into the new era, I've put his new blog on the Upcoming things thread, but you can also go to his Itch page, and find the blog there. People can't really get in contact with him that way, but at least he can keep people updated.
Also, I think there was a reblog on his last post, which you can check out if you want to see things for yourself. I forgot who it was, though I can try and find it for you if you want

Depends on what you define as the IF space. If it's the COG/HG one, frankly I have little hope that things will change. Forum users demanding the writers add whatever they like while offering 0 useful feedback, IF games turning into third-rate dating simulators with even AI slop written sometimes and never ending side content with little to no update on the main game (there's little incentive to work on the main game with how things are going).

Now as for the wider IF space, including the other IF communities, I think things are fine. New writers are joining and games are being produced.

I agree with you, though I don't really make a separation like that, even though I should. And besides, as far as I'm aware, there is much more CoG content being produced than other stuff, or at least a greater output is there, which can be seen as there's something new on a daily on CoG website, while places like Itch and whatnot do release things, but not in the same amount.
But yeah, that's actually why I'm doing this. Authors lurk here, which is a known fact by now, so they can stumble upon things here, which is exactly the useful feedback that they need. Still, the problem is that they usually listen to the useless stuff that's offered through forum and asks, so yeah.
And this way? This way we can all contribute to it, and not get jumped by their usual crowd who likes playing dating simulator slop, with no story or heart whatsoever.
All this to say that I want to make a nice little positive change, so authors would start creating things like Choice of Magic, or Fallen Hero or something, works that were good and had a soul, unlike the majority of things currently produced.
Though do correct me if this statement is wrong. Maybe I'm focusing too much on the negatives here, and have clouded my judgement with them

Would it be too much to ask for transparent updates from writers? I mean, they can do them monthly, they don't even have to do them on a weekly basis. What do yall think? Is that too much to ask? Because it sure as hell seems to me that it might just be too much to ask, if the 97% of the IF writers are to be asked
