Hello Good day to everyone Reading this Thread

This Thread was Made in Hopes of Shedding some Light to Any game that are choice based, me and you dear reader might have found captivating and Would like to share with everyone Considering I haven't found any threads at least detailing all the best games one may play

While hopefully this gets the chance of being pinned, which I doubt but I concur

So Here's how this thread will go, Answer based on Couple of questions below regarding the game(s) you might wish to Recommend and Reply to this Thread

1. What would you Rate Those Game(s) in overall of 15 SGC

( 0/5 S, 0/5 G, C 0/5)

Storywise (I.e S) meaning Does it have a captivating Story that made you wanna play it regardless of the other two rating

Gamewise (I.e G) meaning Does it Promote usage of etc factors such as stats, Relationship value, items and so on?

Choice wise (I.e C) meaning Does it have Freedom of choice?

2. Which sort of players would you Recommend it to? Roleplayers, Romancers, Money oriented players and so on, there is no limit,

3. What is it about? briefly give a description in your own words, Basically why should they give the game(s) a try

Here's an Example;

Game: Choice of Vampire

Rating: Overall 13 out of 15 SGC
(4S,4G, 5C)

Recommended: Everyone

Description: It's a Vampire Story but not the usual Kind portrayed in the media, think of it more like a life simulator, There is a wide range of choices you could play, You could become Super wealthy, Change History as people know it but be warned your choices have consequences, what you might feel irreverent in the beginning could cause a chain reaction throughout the story... so be cautious if you are like me :) if not Go Batshit crazy

Anyways that's it you don't need to follow the exact example, Recommend it as you see fit but do be mindful the game you wanna recommend might already be listed here

If I can edit threads I will try to include the games already mentioned here (Update: I can!)

Update: 16/09/2023

Games already recommended: Choice of Vampire,
Wayhaven Chronicles (1,2,3),
A Squire's tale,
The Golden Rose,
The Infinity series (Sabre, Guns and Lord),
Breach: TAJ,
Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven,
Relics Series (Relics of the Lost Age Relics 2: The Crusaders Tomb Relics 3: Ashes for Gold) ,
Insert-Rich-Family-Name,
The Lost Heir Series(Fall of Daria, Forging a Kingdom & Demon War)
Life of a Space Force Captain
Eternal (https://chooseyourstory.com/story/viewer/default.aspx?StoryId=10638) the reviewer gave an exaggerated rating on choices, it's either you die or follow the plot, at best has a good story
Fallen Hero: Rebirth
The Night Market
Blood moon
Gladiator: Road to the Colosseum

Ah my apologies when I mentioned any choice based game it basically means as long as the game has choices to choose from it could be included preferably with the rating I wrote in the thread, lemme edit it so it doesn't cause further confusion

I guess I'll be the first to go with the obvious one...

Wayhaven Chronicles(book 1, 2 & 3)

Per this rating system, I give it:
Rating: 15/15
  • Storywise: 5/5, I enjoyed the story. Sleepy lil town becomes the hotbed for some Supernatural shenanigans is in my top 5 favourite scenarios.
  • Gameplay: 5/5, being a fictional detective is more fun than being a real one
  • Choices: 5/5, Silvertongue or Galaxy Brain, either or neither works and half the fun is choosing.
Player type recommendations: Everyone really but in particular those who like romance(whether it be pure ****ING PAIN with Ava/Adam, fairy tale with Nat/Nate, pure sauce with Morgan, wholesome with Farah/Felix or if you hate yourself, a Love Triangle™ with Ava/Adam & Nat/Nate) or just Supernatural Detective work.

What's it about? You're a detective in a sleepy lil town just trying to live your best life when all of a sudden there are murders about and somehow it's your job to figure it out??? Fine, whatever... Wait now your mother's unit for her work with the deep-state is sniffing about the place and they're all bombshells? Can you handle this?

Parting words: Dropping the funny bits for a hot second, I unironically love this series. It's truly brilliant and I draw a special kind of joy from having a story told that takes place in America and is written in British English.

A Squire's Tale

Rating: 13.5/5
  • Storywise: 4.5/5, No spoilers but I'll admit I got caught up with the red herring.
  • Gameplay: 4/5, tournaments, falconry, Jousting, Fae and a MILF?. What's not to like?
  • Choices: 5/5, A number of choices have hidden factors that influence the ending you get, I really enjoy that type of content.
Playertype recommendation: Everyone but in particular those who enjoy a medieval setting with a more... let's say appropriate(for a lack of a better term) interpretation of the Fae folk in regards to their original stories from European folklore.

What's it about? You're a poor(I mean this in terms of actual financials) lil Squire under the charge of a Knightly MILF, go on a quest with her to save the heir of your kingdom. Unravel political schemes, try not to get caught up in a festival, find the truth about what truly happened that faithful day long ago and perhaps even... Fall in love?

Parting words: I greatly enjoyed this author's more traditional take on the Fae, so perhaps I'm a tad biased but discounting the Fae... I did say I got caught up with the red herring which is slightly embassrasing NGL but it was quite enjoyable throughout.

The Golden Rose

Rating: 15/15
  • Story: 5/5, Fantastic characters and an intriguing setting.
  • Gameplay: 5/5, Options include but are not limited to... Bribe a child, kill a child(different child dw), romance an assassin or templar or simply call a thief an absolute idiot sandwich for mishandling centuries-old documents.
  • Choices: 5/5, Catholic or Pagan? Psychopath or Sociopath? The choices(and their consequences) are yours.
Playertype recommendation: Everyone really but in particular, those who enjoy having the Church breathe down your neck along with your boss, your responsibilities and your secrets :)

What's it about? You're Indiana Jones but instead of a whip and fedora, you have a chilly assassin and dutiful templar. Your boss sent you to explore a cave ruin to retrieve Church forbidden artefacts but uh oh! Some **** rat stole said artefacts, hunt him down in a city that may or may not have secrets of its own. All while eluding the Church and its Eyes, Templars & Spanish inquisitors.

Parting words: I found this setting highly intriguing, I'm a big Roman & Latin fan and this story has both? Wtf? Inject it right into my veins right now lmao. Cannot wait for book 2... Literally... Cannot wait... Anyone got a time machine?

Ok, I think that's enough for now, 3 games is more than enough for a single comment. Though, there are a bunch of other games I'd like to shout out but can't be bothered to write a review of but dw, they are all great. Trust me bruv...

Arcadie: Second Born, Blood Moon, Gladiator: Road to the Colosseum, Mecha Ace, Infinity Series, The Sword of Rhivenia, A Mage Reborn, Breach: The Archangel Job, Magikiras and The Lost Heir series.

I'll add my 2 cents well games
Infinity series
Rating 15/15 (for the first two Sabers and Guns)

•Storywise 5/5: well just saying there is little games that can compare with this two, there is such under represantion for military themed games and this one might be the best series yet

•Gameplay 5/5: the stats are easy to understand but without mods, there is a lot of ways you can progress from stats to bad trade offs, there is also certain carryover choices you could make from book to book.

•Choices 5/5: very well, you have been told you are a pawn and to those there is a lot of options and branching paths you could go down which is simply ridiculous how many of them are there yet they still funnel to the next game so orderly

Lords (oh man) 11/15
Storywise 2.5/5, it is politics it's a swing from cata and he whiffed it :v, he is a military writer no doubts about that, he tried his hand at politics but yeah nah,

gameplay 5/5, i am an achivement hunter and by god even with mods the amount of bullshite i need to drive over is nuts, from setting things up from the last game to the clubs there is a lot of checks you can take and man there is a lot of paths

Choices 3.5/5, but not all of the paths matter, most or it is just repetitive shite others are just breh, the funnel is too general and if you aren't on some place tough luck it felt as if your hands are tied

2. Totally biased but military fans and those peeps who wanted to rp total war napoleon, this is it, just saying WHO ARE WE!?

3. You are a Dragoon officer (a cavalry unit armed with a carbine and saber) on a napoleonic era tech, on the first two games you acted as a unit commanders starting from 2nd Lt up to Lt-Col, leading more men as the war goes on, on the last one currently you became a polititian since this is napoleonic the officers are also the noblemen of this era so congrats war hero you are now a polititian, again it is tailor suited for anyone who wants to rp war, so yeah it won't be suited to much else

Breach: TAJ 13/15 (with a bit of Chicago war)
Storywise 5/5, it's tight tight tight yeah, another on a untapped source it's a heist themed game, but man maxwell is severly talented

gameplay 5/5, gun lots and lots of pretty guns and explosives

Choices 3/5, there is some but for the most part it is on the rails, just sit down pray for rngesus and enjoy the ride

2. It's got something for everyone i guess, but it is more suited for you action movie likers

3. Well imagine your everyday life, now imagive that the mob as in the 1920s mob is still a thing, so gunshots everywhere and war is alooming on the streets of chicago, which is on hindsight might be just normal chicago but eh *shrugs*

Ps:the post above me i found is accurate some i'd add if you want short stories is the tales from magincia stories (think life of a mercenary, the great tournament etc), cata's early works broadsides: HMS foraker, Blood money, war for the west and **Tin Star**

I'm more into stories with poly themes in it. But also that are not as well.

Currently playing Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven

S: 5, G: 5, C: 5

It's a multi-part (5 parts) zombie survival horror story set in the year 2012 at Colorado. All parts are on the same app and you can save the game after finishing each part. There's an added content "Read Stories from the Outbreak" in the main page of the game that will answer some of your questions to what happened to certain characters while playing.
There's also a standalone game Zombie Exodus which you can play to gain bonus stat points for mc creation and some added lore for a certain mission and perhaps a certain challenge

The story has a good lore and replay value because of character specific missions, romance/segs (or both) if your mc is a male you can make a romance option get pregnant (or not based on mc's dialogue and choices) and other missions that the author gave you freedom if you want it or not. The story doesn't shy away from mature themes as well, for e.g. mentioned deaths for babies, children, and teens, detailed explanation for deaths (gore and some) the morality and humanity of the mc, your group and other survivors. Like you can kill anyone (with different methods as well) and be the cause of death (indirectly) to others because of your choices. Have a villain, hero or morally grey mc. It's like playing until dawn with rpg elements like stats, skills, food and water, looting, crafting, trading, you can only carry certain amount of items based on your stats, attributes, stamina and fatigue which kind of bag you have in your inventory and and in some parts your vehicles and survivors (your companions and others) will play apart as well upgrading your skills, vehicles and bases, get trained or train your fellow survivors, etc.

The game is very detailed (and greatly explained by the author) including zombie kill count, references for skills, crafting, weapon, other survivors. There are also time and day mechanics which you really need to plan and schedule what you'll do because you can't do all of them for events that will only happen within a certain timeframe and that specific day onlyfor e.g. between 10-11 am, if your not in the house during this time, this event will not happen again.

Gameplay will be varied based on stats, skills, attributes, challenges, hobbies, background/profession if you're a follower or a leader you can have a multifaceted mc, also the mc's conviction and more is how the other survivors treat you or act around your mc. (like the 50/50 stats actually meant something because they have impact in your gameplay)

If you're not careful, prepared and skilled enough some characters will die including your romance options aside from scripted deaths.

Please read at your own risk. Contains spoiler.

Main Page includes:
~Play the game from the beginning
~For players who read Zombie Exodus, sign in and choose Part 4 saved game to get a reward

Here's another list. I'm giving just a general overview to have more games on the list.

•Relics Series (Rating 4.5)
~It's like Tomb Raider meets Indiana Jones in which you'll follow the adventures of Dr. Spillane (and friends), an archeologist and a professor turned MI6 agent. Set before and around WWII.
~There's a skill mechanics which you can level up as the game progress.
~4 Types of Specialism that will greatly helped throughout the series but you can only choose 1.
~Romance and segs are optional (and has poly option)
~What I liked about series as a whole because in every chapter is like a different genre, in different locations and characters to meet. From puzzle and riddle solving to murder mystery and detective solving to action-packed, globe-trotting and sci-fi adventure, with spy missions in book 3 and in book 2 is kinda like the "The Amazing Race" where you're given £500 to budget, and spend, earn by trading, inventory is now a mechanic and you'll choose comfort by spending more or be a cheapskate and have enough money for the journey.

~In Relics of the Lost Age (first book)
*There are six relics (from the ancient civilization) that you must get before the nazis get ahold of them. And solve the mystery why is the MC only able to access their powers.

~Relics 2: The Crusaders Tomb
*Dr. Spillane is invited to become one of the contestant to solve a family hidden secret from centuries old tale. Not only when MC has enough trouble dealing with rivals, meet old (the mafia and the nazis) and new enemies (the mysterious occult-like group that hunts the MC and killing some rivals and friends throughout the journey) The MC will enlist old and new friends to help along the way. But the MC and friends are in for a shock because the object they are looking for turns out connected to the origins of the of the lost civilization and the reason why the MC can harness there powers is because they're one of the descendants created by the Ancients of the past)

~Relics 3: Ashes for Gold
*This where the MC starts to become a spy for MI6 and accepting mission to thwart the nazis in their world domination.
*Aside from tying loose ends, getting married and playing matchmaker (only available by your choices) to either leveling up their skills or gain Carxite affinity (harness its powers but with consequences). Now that the enemies have an archive that will unlock how to harness the power of carxite and the bombing of pearl harbor, MC is now on the clock to gather allies, friends and funds for the mission or lack thereof to planning and going to the final battle in hopes to stop Nazis and allies from achieving world domination. But there is still an impending doom (will the MC be the one to cause it?)
*The final epilogue is different based on your choices throughout the series, but overall you can customize some for e.g. when you played matchmaker and gotten married, their child and mc’s child will get married in the future.

Insert-Rich-Family-Name.
S: 5, G: 4.5, C: 4
~For more explicit content and poly themes (👌)
~Author already plans for part 2
~It's a mystery, survival game where you play as billionaire mc that will solve the mystery setup by the grandfather and his lawyers and a detective in which the entire family including your parents, aunt, uncle, your brother and cousins will be given a 30 days to solve the mystery (which turned out or to be finding your grandfather's killer) to be the sole inheritor of your grandfather's fortune.
~Search for clues and keys to uncover the mystery with the aide of a lawyer, detective and your bodyguard. Build relationships or tear them apart.
~How will you solve the mystery and find the killer when your family is killed off one by one and be framed by it. Will you find the real killer at end and prove your innocence?
~Player can donate, invest, loose and gain money and buy assets. MC's personality and chosen stats will affect dialogue and how other's treat them. Gaining keys is vital to help gain clues which you can earn in-game.
~There's a 5 save slot, which I hardly use because the game let's you go back to previous pages like reading a book.
~Dialogue Options are all available most of the time which is also a reason why I rarely save.
~Romance and segs are optional as well. There are 2 poly options and 1 hidden love interest (as what the official description say)

I'm tired as hell but I literally just finished Life of a Space Force Captain and holy guacamole did I have a lot of fun, in honour of that, this comment will be only Lucid Games' games.

The Lost Heir Series(Fall of Daria, Forging a Kingdom & Demon War)

Rating: 13/15
  • Storywise: 4/5, The story was fun, reclaiming the throne and taking revenge isn't in my top 5 favourite scenarios(it's #6) but the story was engaging.
  • Gameplay: 4/5, Romancing a holy woman and making her forego her vow of celibacy and having a castle drop on you, what isn't there to enjoy?
  • Choices: 5/5, A statement for Lucid games is the SHEER amount of choices there are that lead to a multitude of endings, and guess what? This has that... Shocking no?
Player-type recommendations: Everyone but those who like living life through the world or just magicking demons in the face because they're a bunch of nerds being led by the head nerd would find this quite enjoyable.

What's it about? You're the heir to the throne of Daria until some nerd comes along ranting about summoning demons, so your Chad parents say "no", alas nerd doesn't need their consent if they're dead, so now you're an orphan and your kingdom is divided into duchies. Sad but no matter, the power of Chad runs through your veins so you're gonna learn skills, take the fight to those duchies, build an army and get back your kingdom with your friends by your side.

Parting words: I don't know why I stuck with the nerd and Chad motif, so I'm sorry but regardless... The Lost Heir series was a fun and a half, there were a number of times in the story where it took a turn that left me saying "Bruh". Dw, that's a good thing.

Life of a Space Force Captain

Rating: 14/15
  • Storywise: 5/5, I'm Captain Alexander and this is my favourite info broker in the Freeport.
  • Gameplay: 4/5, Play Space Football, go to war against squids, establish first contact with rock people and romance a space mermaid. What's not to like?
  • Choices: 5/5, Choices upon choices my dudes...
Player type recommendations: Everyone but those who enjoy Space Warfare and living life through the world would enjoy this doubly so.

What's it about? You start life as a little child(as one does), and improve yourself in class and/or space American football before moving on to a military academy where you learn the skills necessary for being an officer for the Daria Space Force. Maybe you'll make it to captain?

Parting words: Jokes aside, I just finished this game after binging it for the past day(or 2?) and wow... Yeah, I had A LOT of fun. There were a lot of moments where I was reading and felt there was a better option and low and behold, that's an actual option lmao. Besides, what other game can boast the fact a talking cockroach was a great friend?

P.s. Please go support these authors, not just Lucid Games, Seraphinite & Anathema but rather literally everyone recommended here. It doesn't matter if you can't through Patreon because you're either broke or don't want to bother, the least you can do is spread the word about these amazing games recommended in this thread.

Yikes... Ok, I'm gonna stop myself right here before I get a tad preachy, DW, I don't have a gun to force you but like... Come-on...

For this thread, this is my first and last recommendation (the others have recommended almost all the best HG games you can find, especially the Infinity Series)

Eternal

Rating (14/15):
  • Storywise 5/5: Exceptional writing, great characters. Much like the infinity series, the game manages to make the player ponder upon the morality of their choices, even though the character they are playing as, is a loyal soldier. While not the focus, there are romance routes in it too.
  • Gamewise 5/5: It's very different from COG/HG games in the sense that it doesn't make usage of stats or costumization, yet I enjoyed it a lot. It has a vast amount of branching and 13 different epilogues. Keep in mind that there are multiple bad endings too.
  • Choice wise (rating would be different depending on who you ask from the ones who have played it): I like that there's no "fake choices", only impactful ones, but some of those choices here and there will lead you to certain death. In the form of choices, you can also learn about the story's lore.

Which sort of players would you Recommend it to?
I recommend this game to dark fantasy and military themed book readers/players. I'd also recommend it to romance genre readers/players for some of the decent romance routes.

Game description
You are following the life of an Eternal (age 0 to 101 in some epilogues), an especially trained supersoldier of the Eternal program who can serve in different departments of the military, all in order to ensure the Empire's survival and victory in the wars. Absolute loyalty to the seemingly immortal emperor is constantly drilled inside their heads from a very young age. You are the last hope of the dying empire.

Fallen Hero: Rebirth

Rating: 10/15
Storywise: 4/5
After earthquakes split a portion of the US of A, the government created a free economic zone called Los Diablos, where bio-companies could continue their research into the uncanny, cloning and psychic powers. Superheroes called Rangers defended the city, one of them being Sidestep, untill his/her apparent death. He/she returns to plot revenge against the Rangers, hiding secrets about the bio-corporations, the true rulers of the city.
Gamewise 3/5: Not much going in the gameplay department, but the Rangers' trying to reconnect with Sidestep and his/her psychotic psychic confusion about his/her choices can be quite exciting.
Choices: 3/5
Not many at first, the romance begins truly in the second game. Or, for those willing to torture themselves, they can romance Ortega. And then have to nearly kill him/her in the final fight.

Which sort of players would you Recommend it to?
Edgelords, fans of dark superheroes or antiheroes, and fellow masochists who romanced Ortega!

Eternal (https://chooseyourstory.com/story/viewer/default.aspx?StoryId=10638) the reviewer gave an exaggerated rating on choices, it's either you die or follow the plot, at best has a good story
It's not really exaggerated if you've played each and every route. There are choices which don't lead to an epilogue nor to death with the game ending earlier than the age 101.

If the subjective rating each of us gives,is up for judgement then tell us so I too can give my subjective opinion on the ratings for some of the games recommended here.

I was 50/50 about recommending this because the first book didn't explain well about the mc's origin, kinda shoehorned the last minute.

But book 2 answered that problem and expanded the story more.

Why is Ortega "lowkey" kinda ocd with mc?

Well 😶. Other than him, which ro would you choose?

My ♂️ puppet main ro is the scientist (Ortega as side fling)
My ♀️mc ro:
Ortega (well, they smooch too)
Herald (mc smooch them)
Scientist (mc told that ♥️ them)

Too bad Chen is not ro option so my mc told them to confess to Ortega and told Ortega that Chen likes him.

My main romance option for both the puppet and main persona is f!Ortega. I try Lady Argent in some playthroughs too. I don't romance the scientist neither herald.

I think Argent is kinda intense or a tsun but she sometimes have adorable moments.

How about Chen? I read from a reply that Chen is an RO option. 😳 Also a possibility for 2 more ROs for book 3.

The Night Market

Rating: 15/15
  • Story: 5/5, incredibly easy to immerse yourself into the world thanks to the fantastical world and lifelike characters
  • Gameplay: 5/5, Belladonna exists.
  • Choices: 5/5, Belladonna can be romanced.
Playertype recommendation: Everyone but especially those who like immersing themselves into a fantasy world.

What's it about? Hey you! You're finally awake... You awake in a dingy alley after what you can only assume to be a Friday night bender where your are immediately set upon by the Gestapo Velvet Guards, and thrown into a cell to await judgment but why can't you remember anything? Attempt a breakout and begin exploring this new environment you find yourself in alongside 4 characters including but not limited to A dashing rogue, a sweet witch, a warden with a stick so far up his *** it replaced his neck and quite frankly the best romance option Belladonna.

Parting words: I've been waiting on this IF on & off for a while but I'm happy to say the wait was worth it. A million-plus words where you can dive into a bazaar of weird and whimsy is fantastic, and if I'm being honest with you? Belladonna alone is worth buying the game. But Belladonna aside, the author is already working on a sequel and we should get Book 2's first chapter this fall, so fun is already afoot.

Blood Moon

Rating: 14/15
  • Story: 4/5, who let the dogs out?
  • Gameplay: 5/5, During the course of gameplay, you have the potential to meet the Vampire King who ends up being a massive twink... Alas, you can't romance the twink.
  • Choices: 5/5, several different ways to handle things and even the ability to kill the best romance option in the first chapter.
Playertype recommendation: Everyone but if you like the age-old Werewolves v Vampires motif but with a modern-day setting, you'll get a kick out of this.

What's it about? You're an orphaned werewolf patroling the Mojave edge of your new city territory for your adoptive pack when you're accosted by Pandora's box Carrie, Since this is your pack's territory you must track and capture her but in doing so, you set a Vampire Baron's sights on your pack. Good luck.

Parting words: This was a lot of fun, I'm not exactly a big werewolf guy but this was really good. It's a shame the author is 50/50 on doing a sequel(even then, it won't be a direct sequel) since there is potential for a lot more.

Gladiator: Road to the Colosseum

Rating: 14/15
  • Story: 4/5, It doesn't matter which background you choose because either way you're getting promoted to slave but I recommend choosing the Greek noble past because it makes life easier for you.
  • Gameplay: 5/5, The Colosseum portion of the game is climax-worthy and used to its full potential.
  • Choices: 5/5, many choices where you actually have to use your head and a few options that fell thrown in as a joke but are actually smart.
Playertype recommendation: Not to those who are faint of heart, you end up as a slave with your best friend fighting as a gladiator for the Romans. So I recommend this for people who can withstand being treated like an object without losing their lunch.

What's it about? **** happens and you're sold off to the Romans as slaves, fight and survive the harsh world of way back when with your best friend and earn your freedoms the Russell Crowe style.

Parting words: I believe there was some slight controversy when this came out but regardless, this was gritty and realistic in a very good type of way(think back to when GoT was good) and I had a lot of fun.

Cheers lads, thanks to this thread, I'm planning to try out the Fallen Hero series.

I think Argent is kinda intense or a tsun but she sometimes have adorable moments.

How about Chen? I read from a reply that Chen is an RO option. 😳 Also a possibility for 2 more ROs for book 3.
Chen is not available for a straight male!MC (I don't know how much screen time or scenes those ROs will get on Book 3 and beyond)
