Maybe try deleting the folder and use new folder and new save

To save Dumas you need:
- Napoleon's Dego favour + telling the truth about Josephine's affair
- Dumas becoming your friend and trusting you (which is easy, just agree with his opinions, fight bravely, and do some stuff he likes, such as paying for your goods instead of plundering)

As a cavalry officer, you can simultaneously use the Dego favour to save Dumas while still getting a promotion (without burning the favour). To get the latter, just govern Treviso well in Italy and Napoleon will put you on auto-promotion to General of Brigade before sailing for Egypt.

it's still randomized, put your specific skills to 3 and the rest can be any number, just keep reloading your save and you should succeed. I'll figure out which code decides the success rate some time.

You can't. You only briefly met him as an infantry officer.

Well my reasoning for wanting to Save Dumas as infantry is because if you dont get arrested because of High Réactionnaires Rep and transfered from army of the north you meet him earlier so I thought it would be possible

I came For shadow of the Eagles from infinity Saga being Line infantry i though would he an interesting experience considering we are not dealing with an army with shoe Lace budget and under strength brigade like In Tierria

Why do you choose to even become an infantry?

Infantry field officers get to fight in more big battles: Arcole, Rivoli, Mount Tabor, etc. whereas cavalry field officers often fight in more relatively minor side quests: La Favorita, Klausen (which doesn't happen at all if you burn Dumas's letter and govern Treviso), etc.

Because nothing beats the feelings of leading the attack across the bridge at Arcole while singing La Marseillaise.
