Funny thing is, these people do have a hobby... Reading IFs... Which includes discussing said IFs, including the elements they didn't like in them.
Man, some popular authors really are so spoiled with attention they don't understand how valuable good (constructive) criticism is.
As for AToC, I stopped playing it a while ago, but not because of the LIs - I simply didn't feel like I could shape the Crown the way I wanted to, despite the personality stats implying I could. Oh, and having a "golden" path through the game that requires very specific choices. And the game doesn't even tell you you can mess up your relationship with your LI if you don't pick very specific options in very specific dialogues that are, as far as I remember, not marked in any way. JOY.

No because for real. Everytime I see something by her it pisses me off to no end. The horny people on reddit thirsting after characters and making memes? Why don't you tell the same to them? Why don't you say the same to authors who have no demo on Tumblr and yet have all the time in the world to answer asks about how an ro likes their tea? Hell even, why is SHE sitting down and writing that post instead of her IF and hating on people who are in a server of their OWN? Does she not have anything else to do?

what'd tale of crowns author do? I remember seeing her game on itch and thinking it looks cool (mostly because i like non american/british stories, no offense). Checked her tumblr out a bit and it's mainly reposts of fanart.

Reminds me of someone made a comments about how a different IF author created unfinished work then starts on something new, and making multiple IFs and leaving them unfinished just isn't a good look. I'm just glad someone finally spoke up for once.

I dropped this game when I found out that Xelia, the RO, was actively pursuing the MC while also sleeping around with other people. A lot of players criticized this, and rightfully so, because it felt like a huge betrayal, especially in a romance focused story. Instead of addressing the criticism, the author shut people down and then disappeared from Tumblr (why are you running)

On top of that, the author is also racist (what a shocker). Someone asked her about Kurdish culture, which she is profiting from, and her response was incredibly disrespectful. She showed no regard for the culture she was using for her work

How was she profiting from the Kurdish?
Through a Patreon-style fund specifically mentioning them?
Or through a veiled personification in the game, and then saying on Tumblr "Oh, that's them."

Even if X and the Crown not being in an official relationship (?) makes it technically not cheating, them leading the Crown on while keeping their other options open is still valid grounds to dislike them, I think.
If you want to create flawed characters, why be offended when people call their flaws out lol, just own it

She from what I've seen from her comes across as if she believes her moral standards are the only valid standards to judge by and if you don't agree with her viewpoint then you are just plain wrong. Add Tumblr's propensity towards stroking/defending the egos of creators plus it's tendency to create echo chambers and you get people like her who believe their **** don't stink.

But uh, we should probably try to refocus the thread away from the authors (as fun as this conversation is - but it should probably be its own thread if we want to continue it) and back to the stories they create and what disappoints us about them.

After the MC got you-know-whom into their head, I lost interest. That particular development imo defeats the whole premise and purpose of MC being mind blind, and reads like an admission that the author had no idea how to build the story with/around the MC's condition.

Honestly, that IF just made me bored. For a story in which we're supposedly *not* the chosen one, the story is still written like the world revolves around the super special MC instead of the MC having a disability that could kill them or worse. Just the usual stuff you could find anywhere. Boringly mid.
 
Besides from these authors that makes you disappointed for some reasons, I concur that there are some author out there that still care for the readers. For example the author of KaE, despite so many rewrites he still give the readers progress update for free!!! I know it's shocking (unlike some) and actually giving them several free contents that actually helps build the world and the hype.
