Stories that left you disappointed for a reason

I see. Maybe I am too paranoid. I still stand by what I said; some of the humor falls flat, but perhaps I have outgrown her stories. But, yes, I do wonder why she would risk using AI for an official game. That's a good point.
Well, I guess we will see. I do hope she finishes those games and returns to Midnight Saga gah.

Just read weeping gods, and I cannot enjoy the writing. It use curse word in every sentence, its giving 13 yo who just learn how to curse.
It is so out of pocket when you play as a priest lol.
That's why I couldn't enjoy ''Demon, Fireforged''. The F-word (****!!!!!) is in every sentence and the characters talk like teenagers... (Also the grammar and writing are terrible).

I was playing through the Zombie Exodus Book 4 demo when out of nowhere a WENDINGO appears. I'm pretty sure this encounter isn't optional so maybe it's an unpopular opinion but I think Wendingos and other supernatural creatures don't really fit in zombie stories. I hope this is just an easter egg and a one time thing but since it isn't an optional encounter maybe the author will push more wendingos upon us. If I remember correctly Woody mentions a Wendingo in Part 1 but I thought it was just a variant of a zombie, not an actual Wendingo.

I decided to play "Mother Masss Murderer" (released in the Tales app as "The Pernicious Panacea"). And damn, it's bad...

I wondered why this app (Tales) was so unpopular, to the point where I had to download the APK from APKPure. One minute into the game, I learned why: DIAMONDS TO MAKE CHOICES; the bane of all IF apps aside from HG/CoG. The usage of diamonds is pretty heavy in this game. They're expensive. I didn’t play other Tales games so I can’t tell if they’re as expensive in those too, or just this one. But you start in the app with 10 diamonds. The first premium choice costs 5 (and it LITERALLY adds nothing of value). The next one is 15 (also nothing of value). These choices have ZERO effect aside from slightly different option text, and they’re all about using MAGIC, which I find weird, because isn’t that kind of the main point of the game??? You being a SERIAL KILLER MAGICIAN??? Why make the choices directly related to the game's plot premium????

Tales also has a key system to unlock chapters. You only start with 5, so I only had access to the first 5 chapters unless I bought more. I’m not wasting any money on this BS, so I decided to stop after Chapter 5.

The story is really bad. Your mother hates you after your sister drowned, and she blames you. You're a vice-captain of a village, using your position to kill and kidnap people It’s a medieval fantasy genre, so there are many other races, and one RO is a half-goblin, for example. Now, the killing part is TERRIBLY done. Your first victim is a bakery owner named Margo, but there is literally no description of killing/kidnapping or anything similar. The game just uses a flashback about you approaching her, and you have ZERO agency on what to do with her (what methods, kill/spare/etc). You can at least choose your motivation. There are 3: blackmail her for money, kill her because she knows alchemy/poison making and you see her as a threat, or blackmail her for sexual favors. After choosing the motivation, the flashback ends and the only thing there is is a brief synopsis of the next chapter that practically implies you’ve kidnapped her to keep her as a *** slave/for money/killed her (depending on the motive you chose). Being the vice-captain of the village, the first 5 chapters are just the MC playing along with the investigation of Margo's disappearance alongside other ROs to find out what happened to Margo, with the MC already knowing what happened. Again, there is ZERO agency on choosing what you did to her specifically, your methods, if you cleaned up the crime scene to not leave clues, etc. The game is VERY linear.

The writing is... bad... I didn’t really like it. Few dialogues, and rushed descriptions. In Chapter 5 (the final chapter for free users), you kidnap your mother, but right before you can torture or kill her, there’s a flashback and the chapter ends. Looking at the game’s statistics I also found it funny that the more the game progressed, the fewer people played it.

There are some things I liked. First of all, the concept, it was executed poorly, but playing as a serial killer is VERY interesting on paper. There’s only one WIP I know where you’re a serial killer (What Lovely Bones, a dead WIP). Theoretically there are things in the game that would make Fallout 2's evil path blush, and I admit I was partly interested in that since most WIPs only let you act like a goody two-shoes. But in execution, there isn’t anything out of the ordinary from your average edgy WIP.

Makes me laugh when I remember the drama and him having to take it off of COG lol.

What was the drama about? I've always heard about it but I don't know the specifics
Yeah some didn’t like the themes and obviously they aren’t going to publish it, so I believe he started adding more edgy things as if you played you can tell just as a middle finger. He had a falling out with COG, but he published another book after so it’s water under the bridge now.

I think people got upset because the game lets you play as a r*pist.
Actually I think they allowed it, but moved it into the adult section then he started to add the r*pe scenes, because he was mad it got moved to adult section this is before it had all those scenes. He then got mad and made a fake account defending himself bad mouthing staff and yeah I think he started talking about another author SOH I believe he got banned all his stories were removed and added back and think everything is fine now

Pretty weird to be that defensive of your adult theme work got moved to adult section. Like it's distasteful for even adult to read, and you want to let the possibility minor to read it?
Weird. Diabolical even.

Most likely have to do with less visibility. To view adult WIPs threads you have to be logged in AND join the adult readers group. This writer probably doesn't care who reads their IF (minor or not) as long as many people know or talk about it.

We have a word for this, from the French épatage. It's defined as "a deliberately provocative act or defiant, shocking behavior that contradicts the legal, moral, social and other norms accepted in society, demonstrated with the aim of attracting attention". I feel like this game was basically like this lol Hence the author flipping out when it got moved to a section of the forum where threads get less visibility, though this was perhaps THE game that deserved to be in the Adult section the most.
''Demon, Fireforged''
Did this ever get more content added? Or is it the same situation as with The Abyssal? (promising concept, then nothing)

It has more potential to be continued than The Abyssal. Author is still active as far as I know, just very slow to update which, let's be real, is not much different from most WIPs. The story isn't mind blowing but it's effective. Writing wise it could be a lot better, smoother — but the mistakes aren't so bad imo. Despite being mediocre it's still enjoyable which is the number one thing. Stories can have faultless grammar and witty prose, but if it's boring then it's as good as dead. Example; Wayhaven Chronicles, Fields of Asphodel, The Soul Stone War, Honor Bound and other Powell-Smith's works, and many more I do not care to list because thinking about them is brain damaging.

Also author isn't, hasn't been, a jerk so that's a plus.

I have a strong feeling that a new WIP released recently, Project Variant, was made with AI. I don't really have proof and maybe I'm just being paranoid, but the prose feels so GPT-coded (Maybe Claude 3.7.) At the very least the choices you can pick seem very AI generated. But again, without any proof I'll just treat this WIP as having an overly detailed writer.

Yo, anyone got a heavy hit by not reading content warnings? got taught today the hard way to dont skip It and triple-check before playing.
