Stories that left you disappointed for a reason

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing more cheating ROs if you had the ability to cheat on them too, but that's obviously never going to happen because the people making these kind of ROs make MC a doormat, y'know, just so you can never make the assholes leave you alone because all you can do is cower.

I think what pisses me off especially is that these ROs do not even giving a **** that they cheated and they belittle MC even when they get forgiven.

With Barlow it's a bit different because you DON'T have to pick that they cheated and they're also just very groveling to you?? been a while since i read wgyl so i dont know if that's the perfect description, but they clearly want you back despite everything.

still would never pick the option that they cheated but yeah wgyl is the only one with this trope that i can tolerate
I dont want revenge or some type of reverse-cheating, i Just want these pathetic motherfuckerss out of my sight, If theres something that turns me from a loyal rideordie into a emotionless block of ice is cheating/cheaters.

its one of the reassons i find ifs that reverse the roles even worse, being forced into the role of a cheater simply dont sit well with me, i already didnt had a good opinion of love and leases and the-in-betweens but that was the iceberg that sinked the ship.

I'm a new reader and only started getting into HG/CoG a few months ago. I was looking for some Wips to dive into and came across "A Tale of Heroes" the synopsis sounded interesting, the ros looked promising, so I thought “why not? let’s go on an adventure”

biggest regret of my CoG journey so far... 💀

first of all, the Mc isn't really a main character. no, scratch that calling them a side character would be too generous. they're basically a glorified NPC. and not even a helpful one. I mean in most IFs or CoGs, side characters at least do something. but our Mc? nope. ☝🏻
the real protagonist of this story is none other than the brilliant, wonderful, ever-so-shiny: The Seeker! let’s give it up for, folks. 👏🏻👏🏻

and to make things even worse, I decided to romance Ignis she was the ro that stood out to me the most. turns out, she’s not really a ro... she's more like the Seeker’s wife. I thought I had made a mistake or missed some choice that would unlock her route. spoiler: nope, you just get replaced by the seeker no matter what you do.

the whole thing was so frustrating and miserable, I honestly wish the adventure had just shipwrecked in the prologue.

(english isn’t my first language, so sorry in advance for any mistakes)

That sh** traumatized me, bcz after everything went down from ignis route, you still have to suffer seeing them together while you're on a sideline just looking like a dumb person. Can't even quit the League or something to vent off.
Then the author added a new RO that's supposed to replace ignis, but of course less of a character and more of a "i hate you with all my being" kind of character. Damn them to hell.

Has anyone finished the apt 502 update? I don't know but something about the game is off to me. I just can't seem to enjoy it. Its like the story is running in circles. The characters get on my nerves and I have a feeling that some of the characters are the author's pet. I have nothing to support this, it's just a feeling I had when I finished reading the demo. I don't know how the rest of you guys feel about this IF.

Rainn just sucks, everything has to be about them, mc is on the job? make him think about r, mc is happy and having fun with his coworkers? make rainn appear with someone and have your coworkers talk about how they must be ****ing, mc is on the shared apartment having some quality time with a ro? have rainn bust in and force you to have a talk, all forced interactions that goes nowhere...the rest of the cast is cool though, very few ifs made me have fun with the time spend at the chosen job so i quite like It, things are slow but are developing well if we disregard the rainn circle jerking.

Just dont feel like waiting a year for a update.

Its not just Rainn. MC leaving their entire life behind, leaving their job, friends and family based on one muddled conversation with their long time gf/bf? its stupid af. Rainn kissing everyone's *** except the MC's, Living with 3 women or 3 men or mixed like its no big deal, I think we can be mean to Cal for no reason but we can never be mean to the other roomates. I hate L tbh, I hate it when authors use whoring as a valid character trait, I mean we can't even call L out on it. And the readers dont help either, they seem to love the character who gets around for some reason lmao. C is too nice. I read the SOR demo yesterday and Clara is starting to get on my nerves too lol. A is too edgy and stoic like they went to war or something. M is the only RO i like lmao, some of it is due to the fact the work segements in the game are enjoyable. The Apt sections are very grating for me. I looks like im being very picky but everything is just so disjointed and forced. This is one of the reasons why i cant seem to enjoy slice of life IFs in general.

I need to try Apt 502 I guess, but I must confess that the idea of moving like this without confirming everything like 10 times and/or having plan B available seems... odd to me lol. But alright, it's the premise, it's what the author does with it later on that matters.
MC leaving their entire life behind, leaving their job, friends and family based on one muddled conversation
Dumb question, but why can't the MC go back?

It's like you said, the MC has no plan B. They jumped like an idiot at the thought that Rain might catch them. Apparently the in game reason is that the MC is too broke to go back which makes MC even more stupid and pathetic. For MC's who want to go back to their earlier life, they have to earn and save money here first. That's the reason explained in game anyway.

Are there no credit cards in the game? Can their family and friends not pool/send them money for a single plane ticket (or however they came there)? Or hell even buy them a ticket via internet, then the MC just prints it out and voila :')
Then again, I dunno what the level of technology in the game is...

It is set in modern day. As for the rest, only the author knows...

The mc leaving everything behind and not understanding that they were dumped pissed me off the most, they are stupid as f4ck and no matter how you try to build them they are always an idiotic simp.
To be fair there wasnt a breakup, the words rainn used are murky and ambiguous as ****, i doubt any lawyer wouldnt notice the lack of clearness, there wasnt even a "Just to be clear, dont come to ny" + the fact that nobody besides andi knew rainn was in a serious relationship with mc makes me think mc's not at fault (that was malicious)

But i agree with mc being a simp. (this if gets really tiring If youre wanting to move on)

This is a If about rebuilding your life at NY, If mc goes back the story ends even before the start.

I understand you, tumblr loves to gobble this tropes whole, rainn is the ex who still not over you and L is the detached "i will never get in a relationship" who falls in love, this stuff is all about being so desirable that you bend the unbendable people.

It seems a mandate to have these toxic tropes in IF's and other choice based medium nowadays. Idk how anyone is going to romance Rainn. I'd sooner romance L than Rainn.

Breaks up with you in a public place in front of their friends after you travel cities if not countries for them, proceeds to act like they did nothing wrong, **** poor communication with their partner over the years, doesn't try to put the minimal effort to spend time with their partner but seems to be more than eager to spend time with others work or not, nobody in their circle knows they have a partner which is the worst of all, does all this and wants to still be friends. Fiction or not, this will be the last time i talk to a person like this. Idk how the author is going to lift Rainn up from here and frankly i dont think they can as long as people arent desperate af which they probably are.

Another reason I hate that infamous blew up and seven is so popular. We get a lot of people hoping on the trend trying to one up it now. I like to Roleplay on every IF I make a MC and play them a certain way, sorry but I’m not going to have an adult MC going after someone so petty and childish like they’re teenagers. I just can’t get into it I just question things too much. Not going to play an MC chasing someone playing childish games, a reason I stopped playing Wayhaven got so tired of A nonsense. Haven’t even played infamous since before the rewrites just not for me, I just like reading people fighting and complaints
