Author took away the one thing that kept this story interesting for me if I am being honest, mc feels like a nobody, your progress during story seems meaningless as you will get an asspull upgrade downgrade when author desires.
Tang ruo is more of an mc than the mc.
I genuinely have no interest or desire to see its sequel, if it happens good, if not no loss, from the look of things book 2 will also be a repeat of book 1 but on a grander scale.

Aura clash that had weaker beginning in comparison feels much much better as story progresses.
While mc has less hacks compared to poma mc so to speak but you can feel mc's progress with every Main event, villians whether stronger or weaker than you, dont exist to overshadow you but for your to overcome, even in defeat your progress can be felt, actually makes me feel excited to sequels.

This is insane to see everywhere, as someone who’s hated Ruo since the beginning day 1 hater, crazy that just like 5 months ago if you said anything negative about poma everyone foamed at the mouth. Now I’m seeing it trashed everywhere even on the COG forums in threads not related to Poma even. From the beginning I’ve said Niki lucked out having an insane fanbase no one wants to deal with because Ruo is literally a self insert type OC who everyone glazes, with so many broken abilities he somehow is going to keep up with a reincarnated god. Doesn’t catch enough flack like the breach trio or even the game not to be named. Still in my top 3 WIPs though.

Funny, because the only reason I got into POMA was that people recommended it for having an overpowered MC. Now it's going the other way around. My favorite WIPs so far are Broken Fable, Aura Clash, and Within Your Eyes, in no particular order.

Dont bother the author if they dont update a while, its their right? Sure if their game is 100% free. Sexually harassing authors? Dont send kinky or nsfw messages regarding characters to authors? I swear i've seen like a dozen tumblr blogs encourage this by replying to them explicitly. You might want to talk to them about not responding to asks such as this, most of them make a living out of stuff like this. Besides, i have a feeling they are overexaggerating by saying sexual harrassment.

I feel like the issue is when they assume that just because some authors do it, every other author is comfortable with it. Then they spill their kinks onto an author w/o a single thought as to inquiring first - specifically because it became so normalized.

Besides, i have a feeling they are overexaggerating by saying sexual harrassment.

I don't know what they mean by sexual harrassment, but I assume it's when the NSFW asks start implying something not about a character, but the author themself, and might even spam/harrass them about it.

And yes, disabling anon asks largely fixes the issue. It cuts off a number of "normal" asks as well, but better to establish boundaries than to have a breakdown later on.

That's what I meant, I should have phrased it better. It was those authors who normalised asks like this. It doesn't mean they are completely responsible for those weird anons ofc but some of those weird anons might have sent nsfw asks to those authors and they might've even responded to them. So I think it's very biased to just blame those weird anons. Like you said, best to disable anonymous asks.

I don't know about the sexual harrassment. The post didn't mention anything about recieving asks like that directed at the author. If they did, then idk why that post didn't mention it. Sexual harrassment is a very ambiguous and serious term to use in this context without any explanation.

Yeah.. the anon ask sometime is so out of pocket, like they never talk to other people before. To the point i have to block pregnancy tag because my god, they are a lot of them and it keep appearing on my TL.
I vent and rant about the game and author all the time, but thats it. Going after them by sending bunch of targetted weird *** ask seems beyond obsessive.

I think I've only seen the Golden Rose author express this kind of opinion.
For some other stories, the MC is basically just a tool to interact with the characters/plot.
I believe they should be a character in their own right, though it's easier to do with a set/semi-set MC than a blank slate one.
(I like writing my MC specifically bc to me they are a character like the others)

No wonder golden rose mc has such a human touch, no matter which personality you base the Romanus around guy feels like a living, breathing human being.
That's why i like golden rose despite it being quite linear, mc kind of drags you into his/her perspective and you see the world through mc's eyes so to speak.

Reading actual celeb drama makes me dislike Infamous more now. Like the drama in the story is so stereotypical and boring when actual immature celeb drama is cheating on your husband with a catfish and having the person who the catfish is pretending to be out the entire relationship. Jumping off a rooftop (iirc) has no shock factor.

The thing is that I remember that this used to be a joke. Then the whole dream sequence scene happened, and slowly the MC stopped being reasonably weak and instead just became whatever they are now. I play as a female Wu heir, so I'm missing out on 90% of the actual content (bonus points for being morally gray instead of going full virtuous or demon), but it sometimes stuns even me how my void build is so weak. Why is my MC who has the ability to teleport and hide inside the void getting hit by attacks she should easily dodge? Now it just feels like Nicki saying that Ruo is the real MC wasn't a joke.

Worse part now any character with some relevance is a cultivator, another uniquess of mc gone down the drain, this was the breaking point for me, now I simply don't care about poma anymore.

This, I know most authors have a FAQ section where they state what type of asks they answer. If you say you won’t answer certain ones and stick to that logic should be fine. Once you start answering certain NSFW questions it opens up a cans of worms

For a strong protag, the MC lacks not just actual strength, but also cleverness/any sort of plan and, yes, style. For a weak protag... the MC still lacks cleverness, a clear goal, and an unyielding determination to reach that goal. Even if it means duck-walking across half the country for training (yes, it's a reference).

We can even tell him the immortal "you're courting DEATH" - the line of an MC's arrgant opponent who gets beaten into dust in the next panel...

Why oh why can't IF these IF writers put as much love to the MC as they do to the other characters? Such a mystery.

Because writing MC means you have to include several different personality types and give several different options for how MC reacts. The problem is, some people don't like it and at the same time they aspire to be an IF author. When you have to add option for MC who despises your beloved OC (in the story it's RO), who isn't impressed by how attractive they are? That's not so fun to write, eh?
Unfortunately, authors like Anathema (The Golden Rose) who adores MC are rare.

I would just avoinding the band/rockstar if altogether. It seems curse.

Press Play is the only one I would recommend from the celebrity IFs category. It's not toxic (yet), the author doesn't seem to favors one character, and the MC is well written. One of the problems with this story might be that it will be too linear. But for now it's early stage. We'll see.

Seven can be emotionally stunted. Seven can even be a parody of emotionally stunted person if the author wishes. But the author should let MC be more mature. Give an options to completely cut off from them - because some players don't give a **** about Seven and their dramas.

Agreed, but the thing that annoys me (and im sure many others) about these games is not the existence of emotionally stunted adults, its that you have to like them. there's no choice about ignoring them or hating them that actually follows through.

Another thing that i personally don't like is that the mc has to be stunted like them. Just the lack of choice with no justifiable reason frustrates me. I don't think people hate Seven, i think they hate being forced to love them. Noone says people like this dont exist, but its annoying when their actions get constantly excused by the authors.
