Yup, that's what I though, there's even an option for you to say you're into it. It's awkward as f***. There's some moments in the game where you can chose the two to cuddle and whatever but that's your option, in that moment tho, not so much, and you're not even involved.
In Press Play specifically I'm totally seeing it.
I don't even understand why do we need so many polys in this IF, some doesn't even make sense. Lincoln likes Stevie but if you show interest in him Stevie calls him a creep and even seems disgusted when she founds you two making out. Also she and Angel have zero chemistry, and I don't even see Zima interested in anyone else, but whatever, I guess the author thinks they're all good for eachother. I don't understand why can't at least some of the polys be a V poly but yeah, guess I'm not the author so...
I was thinking Sword of Rhivenia when I wrote that. Hoping the rewrite corrects this, but the poly relationships there make no sense beyond just having them, and it's not like you can just romance any two characters for political purposes either.

I can't really remember the original book but I remember romancing Xavier and Jarean and then beeing presented with the poly option out of nowhere. I don't know about the other options, I always play as a gay male MC so...
In the rewrite idk, it does feel awkward sometimes. Specifically Xavier and Jarean, their friendship comes out of nowhere since Jarean is just in the castle to be a beer maker or whatever I don't even understand why he would help Xavier dress for a party or take a bath or whatever but yeah. Also just two interactions with eachother and if you show interest in both they'll flirt when they're alone, even if you don't want to be in a poly and are just exploring your options. Idk, I just felt unconfortable so...
The other poly I think it's Clara/Lena, and I don't even understand how that will come to be.
From what I remember, the author said Angel’s romantic attraction to the MC came from his admiration for them and their ability to sing, plus their mutual love for music. And even though right now he doesn’t feel anything romantic for Stevie, in the poly route it would basically be for the same reasons, like their shared love of music and so on.
As for Lincoln’s poly, at first I thought it was gonna be a V-poly, because honestly Lincoln and Stevie have nothing to do with each other, and their interest is the MC. But then the author said everyone is gonna fall for each other so…
don’t know if one of the reasons she decided on that was because her inbox was flooded with poly requests, but my god, it’s actually annoying to even look at her tumblr asks. Like literally ALL of them are about poly (partly because I looked it up, so of course that’s what showed up, but yeah, you got what I meant). I just searched “poly” on her tumblr real quick to double-check the reasons she mentioned for Angel’s poly, and what came up was just endless poly requests. Always the same justification like “I like one but I also like the other, can we get a poly with them?” And I’m just sitting here thinking, can’t you just play one route and then the other?
Yeah, I know I’m getting more annoyed than I should be about this lol. Poly really isn’t my thing. It just frustrates me when authors start adding a bunch of poly routes just because people asked, or even when nobody asked. Because it almost never works, for all the reasons I’ve already mentioned. Anyway, I’m gonna stop harping on this before I keep annoying myself lol.
Funny how sometimes authors get so angry when someone makes a suggestion about the game (and provides a constructive explanation as to why they think it would be good to add/do something) yet sometimes so willingly give in to ridiculous requests. Just because some people on Tumblr want.

I just checked the COG forum and the author said she will never do a V-poly. She also said you can see the beginning of Stevie/Lin poly if you invite Stevie to go with you an Lin to the club. Idk what happens, and I really don't care, but it's awkward either way. How does Stevie, who's always calling Lin a creep, starts to be interested in him just because he's into BDSM is just strange, but whatever.
Also, apparently the author is gonna scrap the all RO poly, the Angel/Zima (because she can't see them together), and the Angel/Lincoln (because she's not feeling it) I guess Angel is not a favorite, but I think it's for the best, I can't see him in a poly relashionship anyway. Lincoln is not even into him, he only likes MC and perfect Stevie (who he praises more than MC), I can't even see Lin and Zima together! I asked Zima to the club with us and it was just awkward tbh, Zima was not even a little bit into him. I guess Lin/Zima/Stevie are fan favorites (and author's too) so they can all be paired into poly.
And as I predicted Stevie is the only one who's gonna be in all the poly, because she "can get along and be tender with just about anyone" and "she has this inherent interest in people , and she wants to understand them and be surrounded by them" (author's own words) Idk, I'm very tired of Stevie by now!
I genuinely liked her but this favoritism is getting really tiring. At this point I'm starting to think she's just a self insert or something. 
This is such a shame, because I really love Press Play, but the romances are starting to be such a mess.

Every IF lately has a lot of poly routes and it's all the authors talk about and it gets so annoying to the point I had to block the tag on tumblr. lolBtw, the author of God Cursed was asked about it a while ago, and even though she said she's not gonna add it, a couple of days ago she answered a bunch of asks about it again and she said maybe she will add it in the future and I was like ok, but why? It doesn't even make sense, the two characters (Oswin and Duri) don't even make sense together. Why would she add it just because people can't decide between them? And of course it needed to be Oswin, just my luck and the RO I like

)It’s kinda a running thing now. You find an IF with no poly, you’re chill thinking “okay, no drama with ROs crushing on each other.” Then outta nowhere, boom, poly crowd shows up asking over and over. Author says no, not gonna add it, but they just keep going like “oh but these ROs would be perfect in a poly” blah blah. And then suddenly the author is answering nothing but poly questions and the next day it’s like “surprise, here’s 300 poly routes” because apparently the more poly the better.
This poly **** annoy me so much 
I feel like a old grandma from the 70's whenever i see it in a IF. I know the overall audience of IF's are more on the "woke" side, but dear Lord, it is so ****ing annoying. If i wanted to see other people crushing on each other i would read a book or watch a movie and not play a goddamn IF. I long since stopped to follow tumblrs of authors, i prefer to keep my sanity intact

Yeah, I know which ROs you mean. The best friend and their partner. I follow this IF too and I saw that those two are a couple. I was actually one of the anons who asked about it, because I wanted to know how their route worked since they’re already together, and I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t walking into a poly thing without realizing.
The author replied saying it’s not poly, that the best friend would break up with their partner if you go for their route, and the partner is kinda whatever about the whole thing (apparently they don’t even care about cheating, since they’ll flirt with the MC right in front of the best friend). So I was relieved after reading that response… and then literally the next question was “but couldn’t they just be poly?

To tell the truth, I've seen it before. If you follow the tumblr for Can't Save Your Love from Dying there's a couple of anons who asked if the author could add it to the game so they can beat the RO who will cheat on you. Not exactly what you were implying but there's that. lol
Actually, pretty sure I've seen some sexual abuse asks before on tumblr too. And I've also seen some rape asks too!
For me, opening that tumblr (and a few others) is like opening the gates of hell. I’ve trashed this IF so much that at this point I don’t even have words to express how much I despise it, the characters (looking directly at R, the cheating RO), and even some of the unbearable authors. And honestly, I rarely ever talk about IF authors themselves because the point is to discuss their writing, not them, but some of them… it’s impossible not to. You know the type, the ones who refuse to take any criticism about their story. Not like I’m mentioning anyone specific…Para falar a verdade, eu já vi isso antes. And maybe this is just me and my personal opinion now, but why does every IF have to be so dramatic about literally everything??? Like, sure, some drama here and there to develop the story? Fine. But then there’s the completely unnecessary drama where I’m just sitting here wondering what the point even is, and why tumblr folks eat it up so much. A good example is R in this IF, with their whole drama arc
basically being cheating. It’s not even in the IF yet, but according to the author on tumblr (months before I blocked that hellsite), after the MC finds out about the cheating, R literally admits it to their face like “yeah I cheated, but it’s fine because it was just s*x and it doesn’t mean anything, so you shouldn’t even be mad.” And no, they’re not even a little bit sorry, they don’t even think they did anything wrong
And like… they’re a real RO. Like, an ACTUAL romance option.
I remember when I first read this IF, I just stumbled across it while looking for something new. I started reading, thought it was kinda interesting, and then went to the author’s tumblr to learn more about the story, the ROs, etc. Then I found out about R’s whole deal and I just couldn’t believe they were a romance option. Like, it doesn’t make any sense to me to date an RO who cheats on you and will probably do it again. I figured people in the asks would agree with me, but apparently not
. Most of them were actually hyping R up like “the angst between them and the MC is sooo good, their complexity is amazing!” Complexity? What complexity? Being trash? Why do ROs have to be assholes to the MC to be considered complex?Seriously, in these kinds of IFs, the MC always ends up as the punching bag for these ROs and characters in general. But that’s totally fine because they’re “complex.” Meanwhile the MC can’t be complex, they just have to swallow everyone’s behavior because poor them, they have a tragic backstory and reasons for everything they do. How dare you not understand and forgive. And if the MC dares to push back, suddenly that’s not “complex,” that’s just them being an *******.
I just really hate this kind of drama. And those forced angsts where I can’t fight back or just avoid the character altogether.
But anyway, if I had to sum up tumblr people in words, it’d be:
Angst (especially for the MC, the more humiliated and treated like a punching bag they are, the better)
Poly (like hell I’m gonna miss the chance to turn any route into a poly route)
RO d*ck worship (some “deep, philosophical, extremely vital to the plot” conversation)
I think it will be incest.
There was one that was actually asking COG forum about it I believe. It was a cousin RO or something. Game won’t be finished either way so. So yeah, already happening
