I don't mind gender-locked RO's, I tend to prefer them since sometimes I feel like they are better developed that if they weren't but I'm also attracted to every gender and don't self insert so either way it doesn't affect me much. Most of the time I hate gender-locked MC's, I like creating different characters with different genders, depending on what I'm feeling and what suits the story, I'm willing to make an exception for gender-locked female MC if the setting is right and explore interesting themes like rising to the top in a harem, being a woman in the army and stuff like that. Never playing a gender-locked male MC tho even if I feel like playing as an man.
