What is an immediate red flag for you guys?

Sorry to have derailed the thread. I have another red flag.

Authors who change too much about their story without good reason just because followers asked for something to be changed or added. I'd list examples but it happens so often and the additions or changes can be anything. Authors will have a core part of their game and someone will ask for it to be changed and the author...actually considers it?! That is just a weird concept to me. Unless the author gets something wrong or improvements can be made I don't see the need to constantly consider adding or changing meaningless things. There are the rare contributions that are good but most should be ignored.

If this has been posted already...especially by me. I guess ignore this post lol

If a core part can be changed, it was never actually core and the game wasn't thought through.
Which can happen when one gets excited by an idea, jumps into it immediately, and then is basically writing by the seat of their pants.

And I get the rewrites and all, but couldn't she first finish the thing, and then do the rewriting of it all, if she's not satisfied with it? Give us something first, and then do a rewrite if you want to. And not cut the game like that, so you can do a rewrite because you don't like it.
I recall how disappointed I was when I saw some newer monthly update post, about how she didn't have the inspiration for it, and haven't done much of anything in terms of rewriting Superstitions.

It's sad how it came to be, but it is what it is sadly

So I remember when she was making season 3 and she did have a lot of pressure them fans consistently asking for it. Which I'm sure she got burnt out and stop making more until they felt ready. and that's the nail of the head
What seemed interesting to write years ago is not necessary going to be interesting once time passes. It was an early story, immature so to speak in many ways, and now she might have outgrown it.
The best way to handle it would have been not the rewrites, but finishing it as-is. Pretty much admitting that, yeah, my writing has changed since then, but let that stay as a relic of the early days. Then moving on.
For me I wished she would just be honest an say look this isn't for me. I'll post the old ones and keep it there but going forward, I won't be continuing instead of this circle of "don't pressure me or I wont complete it" to "I dunno if I wanna complete it". Just take your finger out of your arse and be honest.

I mean that in itself is a red flag.

Yeah, like when Mal trows a pissy fit because you kill a guard, and then gives you a ****ing silent treatment, though I suppose that that happens because he's gay or something, idk. Like, are you ****ing kidding me?

The IF is good, but I think that everyone should abandon reading it is the way to go, because the author of the said if is a complete retard. And this is not just me being me, this is legitimately facts.
Thankfully I haven't seen the tumblr post myself, but if anyone is going to sit here and tell me that the ***** amber was the in the right in that trial, then that person is very mentally ****ing disabled, and should be regarded as such. Because, common. Look at the damn trial. The ***** was lying constantly, and had no actual evidence of anything. It was all proven in court, like common now.
So the author of the dyvj is a ****ing leftist through and through, and it shows in how their brain has devolved significantly, pushing all the possible bullshit that it can from the left pov that it's becoming waaaaay too annoying.
Hell, I've stopped checking that profile a long time ago, because it mainly focuses on the leftist political bs, and not update posts about the game. She is way too obnoxious imo and I pray to everything that she disappears off of the face of the earth with her sorry excuse of a political/mental retardation if.
It's one thing to be make a political if, and a whole other thing to make a vent for your insanity if.
So yeah, those are my two cents on the author. IF itself is good, as I said, but it does have its retarded moments, where the author's mental disorders seep through
I'm left out of the story. Who the hell are you guys talking about or what IF it is? I'm genuinely curious now lol

I once came across a wip demo with face claims AND voice claims. I think I shed an actual tear at the ridiculousness of it all. It's interesting to see what the author thinks a character looks like, but I also genuinely don't care most of the time.
That one about being in a super hero school and they literally decide your power, your character, and were you are from lol. Like "Ok, my character is Philippino, has a set face and power, but all I can customize is literally the name? The first name only too" like broski, is you wanted to make a self insert story then go to AO3 or Wattpad or sum, and not make a IF LOL

What makes you go "I already know this is gonna be bad from this start alone" when starting a new game/story?
Patreon/Kofi in general before any chapters are even out, no prologues don't count as chapters. Writer is 24/7 on tumblr answering asks under the guise of "world bulding/lore whatever" or where 90% of the asks are thirsty/horny.
Women characters that can do no wrong (mary sues & gary sues) and male characters written with the writers poorly concealed fetish for incompetent soyboys. There was one if where the MC had two dads and they were just emotional wet lettuce's that constantly cried.
Writer is part of the big circle jerk on tumblr/cog. having their friend shill their **** when there's no content even out yet.

God-Cursed.
Speaking of, games that suggest that instead of growing a spine and learning to face adversity, MC should surround themself by a harem group of people who protect them and do everything for them out of pity love. In other words, infantilization of MC.
Edit: Connected to that, characters talking in therapy-speak.

Man, i just breezed through the if hoping it would get better but no. MC does get something resembling powers towards the end i think. Even still i didnt like it. Too much whining and crying for my tastes. The same happens in DYVJ. MC suddenly cries in certain situations without player input when i explicitely play him as an angry boi hoping to crack heads and maim bodies the first chance he gets.

1) i hate and i genuinely hate "already established friendship groups" or "friends" that i end up not giving a damn for, and who in return keep pestering u nd demand loyalty from you despite just having started the game. this makes me think of our band members in "infamous" i genuinely hate those ppl omg (maybe with the exception of August). i hate that i have to keep a good rapport so i can achieve a winning streak. it pins me down nd leaves me without mobility to do anything lest i receive repercussions for it.

2) i noticed how flirting options in these games always suck. it's a red flag for me that the only variables we have is either be a shameless, bold, deprived person that much early in the story, since it's jarring. or ur either this shy, uwu, fumbling maiden that blushes a billion nd stutters when trying to? like where's normal human moderate interaction with sensible logical reaction to the progress we're at. although i know these ifs scenarios are far from mundane, but still? those flirt options just indicate a rushed, burger nothing romance that make the characters fall head over heels despite their apparent distaste for u a moment ago.

3) idk for u guys but i genuinely love me a yapper and an introspective PC who's not there to just describe to me the surroundings of the environment or observe how the other characters are talking and reacting to it. with that said, it's a red flag to me to have a PC that's shapeless despite ur choices. i also think that personality stats should genuinely be the backbone of this. adding flavors to how u think and respond outside of ur own choice, instead of it being the bland same structure where those stats only come to fruition when u gotta successfully pass one.

4) while i don't hate me an author who genuinely interact with their fan base, some actually overdo it what with the constat ROs scenarios? like the story just started and we have ppl needing to know how character A or B is in a relationship. so the author obliges nd keeps on pumping them scenarios. going the lengths of even releasing side stories locked behind a pay wall. it creates a certain dissonance between the characters they're writing nd the ones they're advertising because those characters behave entirely different to what is given to us. like put that effort into flushing them in the game omg

Yeah, she did crank out S1 and S2 quite quickly and while she took a break before she began releasing S3 and in between S1 and S2, I can completely understand feeling burnt out. I think most people were very understanding and supportive when she put S3 on hiatus (including me), especially because she kept working on her other games which are also pretty enjoyable. But I don't think anyone expected for the hiatus to last this long or derail into rewrites lol, or for S3 to suddenly become the final season. I agree that it probably should not have had 5 seasons like initially planned, but I am also struggling to see how the story is gonna get wrapped up properly in only 3 seasons, it seemed like certain plotlines were only just getting started in S3. That's why I'm feeling a bit done with the series despite how much I loved it once.

Yep 100%!!! That's honestly the biggest annoyance for me, all the vagueposting about how she doesn't know if she wants to complete it, how she has no passion for it, etc and similar stuff and the passive aggressive stuff about people pressuring her. And like I'm sure there is plenty of annoying people doing that but I am also sure that there is at least twice as many fans who love her games and have been very understanding and supportive. Like there should be a point where you as a content creator can ignore and just not give af about people pressuring you and being annoying or whatever, especially with how many years she's been at it. I can also to a certain extent understand being burnt out on a story and not being sure if you want to finish it, and it being posted for public consumption and having a fanbase makes it more complicated. But at some point you have to make a decision and just come out and say whether you're finishing this or not, not keep making all those weird posts and insinuations and keeping the series in a limbo and fans guessing lol. Like at this point I'd rather she just get it over with and announce she won't be finishing it rather than forcing herself to continue something she doesn't have the passion for anymore, because it might get finished but it's probably not gonna be good and it's gonna lack that genuine love and care that was put into S1 and S2. Tbh I've at this point kind of resigned myself to the fact that the series isn't gonna get finished so I can have realistic expectations. And if it does get finished... well yeah ofc I'm gonna be pleasantly surprised and read it lol.

Oh my god I hate this so much, it's so cringe and especially if it's the only romance dialogue so you're either forced to pick between:

1) Bold flirting option that makes the MC sound like they're speedrunning an HR sexual harassment complaint before the prologue even ends
2) Shy flirting option where the MC forgets how language works the moment eye contact is made and acts like a cringy blushing otome protagonist

I cannot put into words how much appreciation I have for authors who put more normal romance dialogue options in games lmao so I don't have to force myself to pick these cringe *** options to romance a character. Wayhaven also has a lot of flaws and is cringe in many ways, but one thing I can appreciate is that you weren't locked into picking these kinds of flirting options (even though they were available) and that you could just pick whichever route you wanted.
