I was reading the old comments in this thread and discovered that both of my elements (wind and storm) are Yang. Does this cause any problems? And does anyone know the best combination for the wind element? Perhaps to enhance its strengths or compensate for its weaknesses.

As a male mc? not at all even if you have Kiihakai and have triple Pure Yang.
As for Eldra she is the Archon lady you meet when jack ,goro and Sakura are arguing.

Atleast in lore yeah having everything Yin as a male or having everything Yang as a female isn't good hell even having both elements the opposite of your nature isn't good you either go for balance one yang and one yin elements or go double yang for men and double yin for women.

We are never given full details except Anon telling even both elements being opposite of your nature is bad and almost no one does it and some good teachers will outright reject to teach you but one reason we know is Manzo was a Yin specialist meaning his style and both elements were pure yin which also was the reason he got cooked his effective ap went from 5500 to 1800 because of it if he even had one Yang in his build he would still be left with 3000 ap and whatever techs comes with that he lost 2/3 of his ap and all the styled and elements abilities when Guiren basically sealed off all his yin stuff.But this is the only example we have in game rn and other reasons are likely to appear later.
What of a Light and Water combination. I know Light is yang and water is both yin and yang. Is there an imbalance if you have an element of pure yang and another that can function as both yin and yang especially since it's my preferred combination because of the utility both provide
No water will always harmonize and make it balanced whatever element you have water will take the opposite role to balance it out.

Because that's my build and I made it exactly thinking about "balance", well, if my style is pure Yin then I'll balance it with two Yang elements(Wind and Storm).
For male mc yang is always good lol doesn't matter also you would be fine anyways as long as your both elements aren't Yin usually only elements matter balance wise as 2 styles aren't pure and one does both.
All you need to know is this.
Male mc= one yang and one yin element is good regardless of the style or both Yang is good too
Female Mc = one yang and one yin element is good or Both Yin is good too
