Atleast the one in the market gets expensive with each buy 100 shards then 200 and then 300 shards.Hmmm I should make a cap and tiers for Skill Manuals, like "Skill Manual II" that can get a skill to 2 and "Skill Manual IV" that would get it to 4

The real grind, no backing from a rich background or sect just hard work. Work hard play hardIs it really possible for Jack to be working harder? Laborer does nothing but eat train **** and sleep.
In the event of this change you should probably take a look at the first free roam choice that raises skills too. Though I feel this is for the best if you really intend for 5 to be the absolute best a skill can really get.Hmmm I should make a cap and tiers for Skill Manuals, like "Skill Manual II" that can get a skill to 2 and "Skill Manual IV" that would get it to 4

Never burn bridges bro, this is all just basic corporate stuff. That's why I will always go independent or fake independent, I won't let Mao and his bum sect benefit from my hardwork, even if those paths are bad for the mc
Skills aren't supposed to cap at 5 as the best effectiveness for handseals for humans are at 7 while at 6 for kitsune and oni if I remember correctly and intended that way as after a certain point the gains are too low plus a lot of skill stats are done without the skill books and some stats will not have uses past 7 range tho you can still do that for Athletics, handseals and alchemy but diminishing returns. In the event of this change you should probably take a look at the first free roam choice that raises skills too. I wouldn't be opposed to this change, since it'd feel much more immersive being praised for your higher skills if you actually have to invest in them, though this does come with the problem of having redundant manuals no?
"Yeah I'm a trapper, how could you tell?"

I don't find that weird since that's basically the result of your 18 or so years of life's work.plus a lot of skill stats are done without the skill books.
And if anon is going to have skill checks cap at 5, skills are capped at 5 as far as I'm concerned. (I'm aware we have minor changes to going above 5 so that they're not totally wasted, such as convincing more people to join you or lowering used talisman amount)Skills aren't supposed to cap at 5 as the best effectiveness for handseals for humans are at 7 while at 6 for kitsune and oni if I remember correctly
It should limit to how many you can use in life Imo we can rn get around 6 of them a limit like 12 should be fine on them so you can only use 12 there are 12 skills aswell also it is over a monthly payment for a warrior also again the skills don't help others as much as they help us like weighted clothing or even cycling efficiency or even alchemy boosts we can get others aren't getting those while they are gaining ap normally from daily training and stuff it's to make gameplay work. so skills play a lot bigger role for mc than someone in universe.I don't find that weird since that's basically the result of your 18 or so years of life's work.

Path manuals are actually one part of the story that's fully disconnected from the gameplay. In real life an item that permanently grants you significantly higher mastery regardless of your current skill level would be priceless. Not something you can buy with a month of pay...
This method doesn't explain why not all people are masterful at one thing or the other but I do see what you're trying to say. Not easy resolving this matter in a satisfying manner. (At least for me, who cares a bit much for immersion lol)It should limit to how many you can use in life Imo we can rn get around 6 of them a limit like 12 should be fine on them so you can only use 12 there are 12 skills aswell also it is over a monthly payment for a warrior also again the skills don't help others as much as they help us like weighted clothing or even cycling efficiency or even alchemy boosts we can get others aren't getting those while they are gaining ap normally from daily training and stuff it's to make gameplay work. so skills play a lot bigger role for mc than someone in universe.
People are tho martial artists at some decent level are good at atleast two three things yeah it's just that people who are even above them like the top tier have atleast 5 in all stats and then have some at 20 it's why skills aren't capped either so a lot of contenders who would make top 100 will be having a 5 in one stat if they aren't spreading it out. This method doesn't explain why not all people are masterful at one thing or the other but I do see what you're trying to say. I've always seen this as a game mechanic because we're the protagonists, so it's natural that we gain power a little faster than we should, according to the logic of the universe.Speaking of handseals, do path manuals canonically just provide you permanent mastery over certain crafts? I'd think no because not everyone is walking around with maxed out skills and they're not regarded as national treasures lol.
I don't think that's necessary. Keep doing what you're already doing, that is, after chapter three, make skill gain much more sporadic and a character achievement. And if there are other books, make them very expensive.Hmmm I should make a cap and tiers for Skill Manuals, like "Skill Manual II" that can get a skill to 2 and "Skill Manual IV" that would get it to 4
Exactly. As said, coming from manual paths there are "only" 6~7 boosts in the game so far(Taio/Mao in ch-2, buying 3 in ch-3, 1 from the "Thousand lantern sect" favor, 1 if skipped Daichi fight through "Last Dream" and 1 from Guiren in the ch-8 post fight). And to be completely fair, we only bought three books (as far as I remember), and each one is more expensive than the last, so they aren't that common, even for our character.
