In any case if i were to implement it, i would make as a choice between battle phases after a certain point like
Phase 1 if you lose you die
Phase 2 if you lose you ascend

You survived, ruo becomes xaintian and you can mock her by ascendibg and sayjng that they needed yk ascend to have a chance at defeating you
