Yes, Yang Bohai said that anyone who kill the MC is either too ignorant or too crazy. If I'm not mistaken, Patriarch He is the youngest Shangtian or one of the youngest, so he's probably at Tang Jia's level or lower, meaning he's definitely not capable of protecting himself from something/someone capable of scaring Yang Bohai. Like, as important as He Gang is, I don't think he's any more important to the He's than the full Asura is to the Yang's.
What's more, the MC will advance to Qi Sea still in this book, perhaps even during the tournament. If everything goes according to the pattern, it's very likely that he'll be much more powerful than an EX, maybe even an MX. So it's not really that simple to kill the MC, especially considering the upcoming war and the beasts going crazy.

That said, I have a new theory. What if He Gang is the trigger for the MC's advance to the Qi Sea? I mean, the MC hasn't had many opportunities to collect Qi and He Gang seems to have huge amounts of it. Wouldn't it make sense that, by defeating/killing He Gang, the MC would absorb his Qi and progress to the next level?
