MC isn't karma protected lol. Whatever that means.

Chaos Origin Physique means MC will be contested by the heavens every step of the way. Hes cultivating on max difficulty by default.

Doesn't exist. Ruo is favored by the heavens because he's a Dao Child, it has nothing to do with good or bad karma.

EDIT: What could happen is the DES can only go all out against demonic ppl similar to Fu Bing, but theres no evidence of that afaik
Play that Fu Bing sister fight again. There is a reason why her karma attack can go from auto unavoidable death if you don't use the shield if you have high demonic to completely harmless and not even working if you have high Saint and something in the middle if you are neither

Also what Arlonb said

Pretty sure thats how her technique (Karmic Stomp iirc) works. If you're slightly demonic you can even raise the foot on your own strength without the shield for example.

But yeah aside from these techniques that explicitly punish bad karma theres no evidence good karma protects you from anything.

That's how the DES ult works like most Karma attacks btw. Fu Lanfen is actually just the only time the mc can see that happen considering you have to be 80%+ Demonic to fight the DES and no one else use Karma attacks since mostly only Judgement use them

Soo does anyone have any recs for a good IF? Doesn't have to be a cultivation IF, not that there's many but I'd love a story where we can have decent control over your MC and minimal railroading. Its obvious I like progression fantasy, but im fine with anything.

I made several on this thread a while ago.
Beyond the Gilded Veil, Aura Clash, Below the Skyline, Wild Hunt
(Though Wild Hunt seems stuck in rewrite hell rn. Hopefully that will change)

On top of them let me recommend Dao Ascension, Transcended Awakening and Out of the Yinshan for cultivation/wuxia IFS. Oh, and The Dragon's Covenant and 1966, though they're different genres.

So... Whoever recommended Wandering Sword here, you have my thanks. The game is a masterpiece. I won't say it's the best "2D" RPG (I know the term is HD-2D) I've ever played, but it comes close. I really didn't expect wuxia/xianxia to be so well made. Good story, good music, good gameplay, nice art style, interesting characters. And of course, a cool and progressively OP protagonist, who really is important and acknowledged.

Vote Result:
"Chu Muchen has won both on Patreon/Boosty and will be one of the opponents in the upcoming 3v3.

Second place is technically Tang Bo (with a difference of like 1 vote), but I feel like the Su Twins would make for a better fight - there will also not be an opportunity to fight them both later on, so they will be the 2nd/3rd opponents (not sure about the route where Su De is out of the sect yet; maybe I'll bring her back for the tournament, will think)."

Su twins and Chu Muchen for our 3v3? That seems like a tough fight. Is this something new Niki is doing? putting out voting for our opponents? I think he did it for content but not main story.

Yes, and it will be even more difficult if the 3v3 allies are the same as the winners of the Free-for-All Battle Group. In the "best" case, the allies will be Mogui and the shadow guy (two weaklings), in the second "best", only Mogui, in the third "best", the MC fights alone, in the worst, Mogui and that girl (it's the worst because the MC needs to protect her).

But to be honest, the best scenario, if this is the case, is for the MC to fight alone. Since none of them are really competent or trustworthy.

I thought about this after reading the tourney update back then. That the 3 winners from each batch will fight 3 from another. But this would make fights difficult for the batches with less than 3 winners. MC is always going to have a debuff anyway if this is the case. Liu Mogui is at best a strong tank and he plays the long game. We were able to defeat him despite being outside from top 10. He doesn't stand a chance against top 10, at best he can occupy them for a while for us. No need to even talk about the third one. Not to even talk about the teamwork. Besides MC is already accustomed to people jumping him, might as well make this a 3v1.

Randomised 3v3 also has holes since there's a chance that one 3v3 ends up having odd number of contestants, unless Niki decides to write it so that total number of winners is even.

I like the first option better, more chances for aura farming and growing stronger in general. Su Twins and Chu Muchen is a tough fight especially if it's a 3v1 considering how good the twins work together and how strong Chu Muchen is individually.

I think the potential fight against the Spear Twins is cool.

I just think it's kind of nonsense if the scenario where Su De left the Sect actually happened. I mean, she made it clear that anything beyond becoming a Spear Lord (or something like this) is irrelevant, which is why she left.

Her actually returning to the Sect just for the tournament will seem forced and another excuse for "I don't know or I was too tired to write another scenario".

Edit: I just hope Nicky writes a good reason. Maybe something that finally explains why so many MAs are obsessed with the tournament.

Solo training in the middle of nowhere or actual combat against tough opponents? Who knows, she might be strong af now after us helping her and might be gunning after the tournament 'prize'. Still I agree, I hope the reason is good enough. I dont want to it be like "she was just there".

Mogui's powerset seems to run around debuffs so he should be useful in the group fight. Idk about Shadow Guy, maybe he can hold off one of the twins.
