New IF: Red Thread in The Woods



The forest was never meant to be that infinite. No matter which way you turn, it changes and remains the same. Can you get out?

Summary:

Your life was simple. There were few rules governing you -- chief above them all was:

Never stray off the path.

Your mother had said that countless times. And now you understand. The forest was never meant to be this infinite.

Can you trust anything in this strange place? Can you find a way before it eats you whole? And most importantly -- can you trust your companion?

Characters:

The Wolf [IT/ITS] - an unfortunate soul that has taken a liking to you. Mischievous, it reminds you too much of a fox, but it promises it knows the way out. Can you trust it?

The Hermit [HE/HIM][SHE/HER] -- the first person you have met in this strange place. They're taciturn, but their offer was kind, giving you a roof over your head. Still, there is something dark in their gaze and you cannot help but wonder: are they helping you out of the goodness of their heart?

Update: Anything For The Crown (Chapter 4 Part 1)

(A/N): Today is my birthday, so here is a gift from me. The first half of chapter 4.

In this half of the chapter, begin your investigation into King Alaric's death, uncover a few secrets in the palace, and make some choices that could have consequences in the future.

Also, I've been making some changes to the theme I use, so most of the prologue and chapters 1-3 have some formatting issues. I plan to have that fixed soon.

(A/N): These next few updates are going to be variable heavy. So, if you find any bugs that have so far gone unnoticed, please let me know! I've worked really hard to work through them, but I am unfortunately only one person, haha. Also, as always, I recommend starting a new game. But if you don't want to play through the first three chapters again, I recommend using the new quick build feature.

New IF: Starchild (Prologue)

Navigate your job and relationships as you slip into the role of a parent who takes care of an extraterrestrial creature that may or may not consume only raw flesh.

Eventually also take control of the child you're raising as you shape their view on humanity and life on earth, as well as a growing obsession with stardom.



Your life thus far has been pretty average — you sleep, eat, go to work, call your grandparents, and repeat.

You didn't think much of the meteor shower everyone hyped up so much, even if it only happened every 33 years.

At least, you didn't expect one of them would crash into the community garden right behind your apartment and cause a giant mess.

A mess that went beyond burning grass, fallen trees and a smashed garden shed.

There was a baby. Inside the rock, cracking open like an egg. Not quite human, but crying out and compelling you to take care of it all the same.

You decided to give in to its demand… But how do you take care of an alien child, exactly?

aside from my best buddy, bryde, i’d love to give a shoutout to my amazing beta testers (the GOATs) for spending their precious time scouring through the demo to find any errors and bugs. i don’t know how they were still able to go along with the repeated speedruns and choice cycles, but i’m extremely grateful for them.

NB: because of the changes in the previous chapters and a code overhaul from bryde, your old saves may be corrupted or unable to load. we tried to make sure they could still work, but alas, it couldn’t be. the good news is that the saves you make in this update will work smoothly in the next one.

The option to play as a virgin MC is available only if you didn't choose the FWB dynamic with the secondary rival. The option is also available if you chose the "flirt" dynamic with the secondary rival.

How to set a specific dynamic with the secondary rival?

During the first encounter with the secondary rival, the MC will be given a choice with four options that determine their dynamic:

Choice 1. ♡ FWB.
Choice 2. ♡ Flirt.
Choice 3. Friendly.
Choice 4. Distant.

Choosing the first option [FWB] will disable the option to play as a virgin.

S will refuse the MC unless they have a flirt dynamic with the secondary rival and choose a specific option during the refusal scene:



Important note: playing as a virgin and getting S to agree to have *** with the MC activates a hidden variable that locks in S's route.

It sets a specific dynamic between S and the MC, but the MC will have the opportunity to make S suffer for it in the most twisted way later in the story.
