Question - Does anyone have a list of the skills we can improve in downtime? Particularly Alexandria. I wan't to figure out the best way to "optimize" them.
You don't need a list, if you just hover your mouse on the right side where skills are located, you can see it, if you're not using a save editor, then you should decide on a playstyle, whether it's aggressive, balanced or defensive, and whether it's individual combat or overall unit focused.
For player who want to finish as general of division but not marshal in this version you can't because no matter how bad your relationship with napoleon as long you're general of division you will be marshal of th empire.
So yeah maybe if you want to serve under your favourite marshal then you definitely need to be general of brigade

My favourite marshal is Davout but after serving under him in Egypt as a chef de brigade, I was like "Damn bro what's your problem?" If I stepped even a bit out of line, he would treat me like I'm a nuisance

My proudest moment was when I managed to convince him to concentrate the troop columns to protect the pilgrim caravan instead of splitting up. Proving myself smarter than the iron marshal is a rare feat.
That, saving his life, and finally ended up as friend is one of the reasons I play as cavalry and refusing the promotion to general of brigade. Sorry Marmont but I prefer desaix and davout
He became more relaxed as he aged, so we should have plenty of opportunities to interact on friendlier terms in the future. I have played it a few times but I want to know something , Is the game gonna be focused purely on military aspects and will we get to do something else, like starting a relationship and getting married, make friends overseas or even secure a title somewhere ? I know that in infinity series also , lords was more focused on politics and estate management.

It will focus heavily on the military campaign. Romance, domestic policies, and personal relationship will be very minimal if there are any.
