I think the battle marshal is good content especially you will befriend nay but as general of brigade or division it's amazing in the last battle as general you have chance to antagonize soult, have trio dynamic with vandamme and Saint-Hilaire, again we can help ney,last is the thing I already mentioned the last battle is more amazing for me. Again this is all is personal opinion so it maybe will be different from other experiences

You can also help and befriend Ney as a Marshal by sending him your reserves during the Ulm campaign and taking the blame in front of Napoleon to cover for him. It comes with a -10 War Ministry and -10 (or -20, I don't remember) Napoleon rep loss however.
are there any field promotion for cavalry officer in italian campaign? can't reach General division before Act IV, especially when you go Hero of Fleurus in the Northern army.
In cavalry at Italy the highest promotion you can get from event is when you not deliver Dumas letter and that is only to major
You can only reach General of Division by:
- Getting promoted by Napoleon at the end of the Egyptian campaign, after taking the Ottoman general prisoner with Murat (requires General of Brigade rank)
- Getting promoted by the Directory after returning to France (requires 120 Directory rep and getting promoted to General of Brigade at the end of the Egyptian campaign)
To be a General of Brigade, you need to reach the rank of Chef de Brigade in the Italian campaign, and get Napoleon to offer you the General rank when you meet him at Toulon after the Treaty of Campo Formio. Alternatively, you can become Major during the Italian campaign, get promoted to Chef de Brigade by Napoleon at Toulon, then General of Brigade at the end of the Egyptian campaign, and finally General of Division by the Directory upon returning to France.
You can be offered the general rank as a major too in the cavalry route if napoleon promises to petition a promotion for you after successfully governing Venice.

anyway, anyone know how to befriend Marmont in Alexandria? can't get him to approve even after listening all his advices.
It may be because you are friends with Murat already, currently the game for some reason only lets you befriend either Murat, Marmont, Davout or Ney.
The only exceptions are Lannes and Dumas, which have different friendship flags.
Edit: Checked the files and here is how to befriend him in detail, you start with either +5 friendship score if you travelled to Egypt with him and Napoleon on L'Orient or +4 if not, you need 10 or more to become his friend.
Here are all the ways you can raise it:
