Stories that left you disappointed for a reason

Since there are no new IFs for me to read so far, is Bastard of Camelot worth reading? I like Arthurian tales but seeing it being discussed in 'Stories That Left You Disappointed for a Reason' is making me reconsider...
I'd say it's well-written, but also it's been stuck on the childhood arc for, like, forever, and afaik the author has wrist problems or smth which means it'll likely be slow going.

You should judge it by your own, I think. Come here if you have something to complain about the IF, that's what we do here. You've seen a glimpse of what's in it.

Personally, this IF is frustrating to read. The cast is... bland and the story is packed with an immersion breaking amount of — gotta find the words in English — modernism, I guess? And they make Arthur a soppy c8nt who couldn't stand straight without Merlin's geriatric *** backing him up.

Morgana may be vindictive but there's truth to what she said. Merlin's sus as hell, the type that be pulling the strings behind the curtains, but maybe that's just me.

So to recap, Morgana's entire family was wiped by Uther, the man forcefully wed his mother and bore Arthur. Then she was sold off to some jackass of a noble, forced to have child with said noble while a traitor took over her home. Plotted to have a revenge child (that is the MC) when she found out Arthur was Uther's secret son, fled when Arthur doesn't want to acknowledge MC.

She has every f8cking reason to hate the entirity of Camelot. For some reason people just brush off her entire lore because what? She can stand for herself and fight back to the people that wronged her? Using her child is not ideal but MC is, ultimately, the heir to the throne. Her only chance to make it right.

Also, to adress this in particular. No IF is perfect. Every story has something that could be improved upon, and tastes differ. Just because someone mentions an IF here doesn't mean it's not worth reading.
I'm stuck complaining on here because I'm well aware that most authors don't care about critique lol, and neither do their fans

Actually I like it tbh, I just haven’t played because it feels like childhood drags feels like it was even rewritten and that’s the last time I played it. I do dislike Arthur only because he lets himself be pushed around and manipulated honestly he has every right to hate Mordred, idk about everyone else but I would probably treat the person with that prophecy better tbh. For Morgana I actually like her and don’t agree that she doesn’t love Mordred she clearly does and she wishes you would go the revenge route, but I remember you could even ask her if she would love us if we don’t get revenge or something, I feel like Mordred is the #1 person in her world. The person I actually feel bad for is Gareth lol he’s like the unwanted kid who half sibling is clearly the favorite she obviously loves him too, but feels like she gives less attention to him, I’m always mean to him just because it’s funny to me, Author is even making him aroace now can’t catch a break. I also don’t agree with how she tried to trap Arthur and I can’t say anything because idk what I would do when I lost everything and am feeling desperate. Now just progress the game, how many years has it been and we are still in childhood? Yeah we’re cooked it’s not getting finished.

Just played through the game, and so far I like it even though the writing isn’t my favorite. But if this game has been in the childhood arc for this long as people say, I feel like it’s going to be another Kingdoms and Empires situation where it’ll only get finished in the next generation.

I believe we are 15 at the moment? The author once said the next jump will be at 19 and then finally 21? I don't remember well but I think I read something along those lines.

Since we are on this topic, am I tripping or did the Author once say this will be a multi book series?

Did she? I always thought it was a single book story. I actually think this is one of the few IFs which might do well as a single book.
Yeah I rechecked she said Mordred won’t be having kids in any of the books, so I’m assuming it’s going to be a series. That’s actually one of my pet peeves and I’ll start ranting. You know it’s a rule nowadays every book has to be a planned series

The itch page states:
"The Bastard of Camelot is a series of text-based interactive fiction inspired by Arthurian Legends, following Mordred as they become a Knight of the Round Table, and shape the fate of Camelot."

Damn. How long ago did she start the IF? I believe its been over 3 years? You'd expect a branching IF to be done in about 4 years or more based on the content. Regarding kids, i dont really care tbh. I want to see how the story branches. How the routes play out, whether we can take the throne without bloodshed and all that.
