Another band IF... Let me guess, it's one where the entire plot is drama and angst, and music itself makes up barely 1% of the game. JFC can't we have a music IF where you actually make music with your FRIENDLY band members, manage fame, and do stuff like that in a Beatles-pre-Yoko style?

I don't like reality show IFs much in general, the only one I enjoyed was Odessa's Dating Games, but alas, it's dead.

Not that I blame the author for stopping, managing dozens of ROs at once would be hell. I remember you could choose between seven or more personalities for the main princess, and each princess' personality had different reactions and scenes with the MC,plus there were at least four more ROs. No way anyone can handle that. Now I understand why the writer of Keeper of the Moon and Sun barely focuses on ROs and makes them as barebones as possible

I get that drama and angst are sometimes necessary to drive the story, but when the entire IF is just nonstop drama and angst focused on the MC and everyone around them, it’s simply unbearable.
I know some people enjoy drama and angst, but does every single story really have to be 100% about that? It’s crazy to me 🤦

I’m at my peak frustration with these IFs. So, if anyone has any recommendations for IFs that won’t make me this angry, I’d really appreciate it.

Too bad about what happened to it smh, only other reality show IF I liked was a twine one body count, was such an interesting premise with a twist I did not expect. Too bad pretty sure it was abandoned too.

The POMA MC got nerfed from what people have told me, as in, the MC isn't as unique anymore, and he was nerfed in the latest update.
POMA MC was always a jobber. They were the weakest person in the exploration team up. Stronger than regular folks but weaker than the other geniuses. As for them not being unique anymore
POMA MC isn't the only person with the ability to use Qi. Nicky tried to justify it with the whole Lady Butterfly

I love games where you start off already seen by the world and its characters as a respected or competent person, like in I the Forgotten One, Whiskey Four, and Within Your Eyes. But I have mixed feelings about IFs where you're seen as competent but get your *** beaten in almost every encounter (like in The Exile)
The getting your a55 beaten part is frustrating in and of itself, but remember it's because the MC has been stripped off of his power and still got people scared sh1tless. What really, really, makes my teeth grind and my veins pop is the two Queens. Both of them are so horrible in ways beyond what a sober mind can bear. At least in ItFO we can beat the disrespect out of Mira. Not only that, we can make her kill herself. In The Exile we can do nothing but seethe and glare at the Queens, we can't even win against the Queen Regnant in an argument! It's annoying.

Lol this is why I slightly prefer Aura Clash over POMA, even though I really liked POMA when I played it. Aura Clash's MC is way, way better and funnier. I like the fact that you can pull a Geralt and sleep with 99% of the cast.

One thing I found weird about POMA was the bad grammar when I played it, and how your MC would sometimes be humiliated by a teacher, and other times humiliate people who were beneath them. Though I liked it overall, Aura Clash is the better game for me.

This is why I stopped playing as a stoic MC(who, in my mind would be a badass, but in-game kept getting humiliated and beaten by everyone) and switched to a sarcastic and playful MC. Makes the scenes of him getting dogpilled less... annoying somehow. It's also weird that if you play as a certain type of MC (like stoic or rude), you can’t romance almost anyone I’m pretty sure.

Well, I understand how a RUDE MC wouldn’t be able to romance everyone, no one’s going to like their rude ***, but the author could at least give us romance options for a stoic MC (Unless that's been changed in the rewrite)

Not really. I played a brutal and stoic MC and tried most of the romance and it worked. Syfyn, the fairy bard girl, the nobleman whose name I forgot, Vethna — just have to pick certain romantic choices, though I admit it takes some concentration and quicksaves to know which choices leads to romance points. A bit disappointed that the rewrite is on Twine, also the first Vethna romance scene is deleted which is tragic as it was a really fun scene with dominant MC. The scene is still in the CoG Demos version though but this one will not get an update

I'm not a fan of rewrites unless a game is REALLY bad, which, in The Exile's case it wasn't. My main objection to games being on Twine is that they're harder to cheat lol. InCOGDemos, the late Dashingdon and similar, there's console command that lets you modify stats. In Twine, there's one too, but it's a bit more annoying to deal with.

Damn, just out of high school is crazy. I was fortunate enough to be mentally hardened by the time I left high school. Can't say the same for everyone. I know a lot of people who are proper adults and can't tune out the rubbish that comes out of people's mouths nowadays. Good on the author to know when somethings not up their alley. The asks would have been even more insane if the author has managed to get a few chaps in. I wonder whats the reason for such toxicity in IF space. I don't think it was this bad a few years back.

Total tinfoil hat here, but I think that an increased focus on romance and normalized inclusion of NSFW content have brought in an overlap with the NSFW games/AVNs audiences, and some of these can get... well... really really uncomfortable and toxic.
That aside of the generally awful anon culture (zero accountability), and the fact that the more popular something is, the more a s s holes it catches.
