While I'm here, I might as well stay on this threads topic. I tried to play the Soul Stone War series multiple times. But I just can't. The plot is incredibly dull, the romance is incredibly boring, and I couldn't give less of a **** about literally anybody in the story. I never got past the first game, so maybe it got better, but, somehow, I doubt it did.
I really could not give less of a **** what you think or believe, Tommy boy, and I have no interest whatsoever in knowing you in any way shape or form. You're the IF community's equivalent of a lolcow.
Also, pro tip, stop putting 'lol' at the end of every sentence. It makes you look like this wojack.

Thomas Bell, Leaker Extraordinaire
A former member of CoM, he used to be a regular member just like everyone else before deciding he'd want to start leaking for the benefit of everyone here. He did so, but not before also getting into hot waters with CoM Staff due to... Hmmm, let's just call it "political differences" in terms of speech, but that is neither here nor there.
He is permanently banned from CoM, but he sporadically pops in from time to time. But overall, I am his friend and leaking partner, so his overall presence remains felt in CoM through our 30 leaked patreons.

You are entitled to dislike ThomasBell, whether due to envy or his personality; many on here do, but claiming not to give a **** and proceeding to do a 180° just reeks of hypocrisy.
Now, to remain on topic, I haven't really played any of the new IF titles that have come out. The last two that I have played were Games of the Monarch's Eye and Spire, Surge & Sea. Both carried the honour of having an interesting premise out of the recent batch of released dull-sounding CoG games... Alas, the winds of intrigue ended at the front door.
Games of the Monarch's Eye, while having some interesting world-building and lore. It was so imaginably boring, I physically could not finish it. As a bonus, the only interesting RO was the Monarch herself, but even that left a lot to be desired.
Spire, Surge & Sea, on the other hand, I managed to finish through force of will alone. A complete utter shame due to its premise being fantastic. Ocean world? Filled with Monsters?? Your Island Fortress is the only bastion of Humanity after the dark ages??? Sign me the f u c k up! Except, Well... Between the originally cheating RO, MC being completely worthless and a buggy ending. I wished I had dropped this IF instead of being stubborn...

Dw. Due to public pressure, the author eventually amended it in an update so that the RO instead only has feelings for the 2nd character rather than just immediately falling into bed as soon as they meet them, even if you've been romancing them for half the IF like previously.
But really, I don't know what the **** is wrong with modern-day authors. You have a cuck kink? Keep it to yourself, don't insert your fetish into everything... If an RO is an RO, they shouldn't start sleeping with others when you're romancing them...

If Thomas is trying to stink up the joint, which he usually is, I'll be there to make fun of him. I despise him that much. If he confined his screeching to this forum, maybe I wouldn't him so much, but he has to go and pull his bullshit in front of other people. Now, when other people think of COM, they think of his stupid ***. He gives this forum a bad name.
I hate the way he types like a chimpanzee smashing his face against a keyboard, I hate the way he acts like a schizo crackhead homeless guy on the train, I hate the way he keeps trying to get back to this forum, there is nothing likeable about him. He should just stfu, because the only people who care about whatever he babbles are the dumbasses in his clique, not the average user here.

Posting this because I recently saw yet another thread glazing and circlejerking over Infamous, with people getting super defensive over even the slightest criticism so now I’m feeling petty. I guess my hot take (maybe not here, but anywhere else I’d get crucified for it) is that while it’s an enjoyable enough game, it’s also in a SEVERE need of an editor or at least some solid beta testers that would give honest feedback, not just mindlessly glaze it like what happened with Wayhaven's beta testing for example. I follow the author on Tumblr so I remember seeing like a year or even a year and a half ago that she had opened applications for beta testers, and then I kept seeing some posts from her where she kept mentioning that she still hadn't picked beta testers, even months after the applications had closed??? 
I've since stopped following her on Tumblr bc she's kind of annoying lmao so I have no idea if she ever got around to actually getting beta testers but it would explain a lot if she hasn't 
But yeah my biggest annoyance and criticism is that the game is way too bloated with unnecessary scenes and that's why she needs an editor or testers to tell her that!! I've seen quite a few other people express similar criticism too, surprisingly some of them were in the COG forum. The glazing seem to be the worst on Reddit lmao, somehow the occasional criticism manages to make its way into the forum thread. Anyway tho, the thing is that a lot of said scenes are good and even entertaining to read, but it doesn't change the fact that they serve absolutely no purpose. You could cut soo many of them from the game while still maintaining an impressive amount of branching/variation and it wouldn’t affect the plot or pacing in the slightest. The whole thing could easily be half as long as it is right now. Or idk like maybe not literally half, but a good chunk could definitely go either way. If the author keeps up this pace and this kind of writing, it’s going to take her like ten years to finish the game at minimum. Brevity is a skill you should learn as a writer, that's all I can say lmao. And I say that as someone who also struggles with getting wordy and overly detailed in my own writing. The difference is that for me, it’s a hobby. I can afford to be self indulgent bc I am not making a game or book to eventually sell to people.
What really gets me though is how this game seems to have people under some kind of spell??? I've never seen this kind of rabid defence for any other popular game, even Wayhaven. Even mild constructive criticism gets treated like a personal attack on the fans or author. You’d think the author cured their mother’s cancer or something with the way people jump to defend her and the sacred texts that is apparently Infamous
I don’t hate the game by any means, and I still play the updates because it’s a decently entertaining IF, but it's been getting progressively more frustrating and its flaws have been becoming more obvious with each new chapter. I can at least enjoy it and still acknowledge it’s not some once in a century masterpiece the fandom makes it out to be lmao. And I can also admit that my own favorite IFs have their flaws without plugging my ears and going “la la la can’t hear you.” I just wish more people could do the same with this one. Also, Press Play and Twisted Scene are honestly cooler anyway. Shoutout to Twisted Scene especially, since the author recently came back.

Yes, I'll admit it openly - I hate this IF and wish it were dead. I think it has a negative impact on the community and the new people, both authors and readers, who join.

You just have to vibe with the genre. It's a melodrama mixed with a reality show. MC is meant to be a wet dog at the start, people around them are meant to be dicks to them. Experiencing all shades of misery before getting your happy end is the point. And then we also have to keep those rating coals hot too.
If you just don't like the stories where MC sucks a lot and will suck, because their sadness is the point of the whole show - then you just don't like them.

Personally, I don’t even like that IF, so I stopped caring a long time ago. But on the other hand, I have to deal with authors who have a fetish for being cucked and making the MC one too
In the case of this game, I suspect that the author will do everything to ensure that the happy ending is not too "happy".
"Wet cat"? Hm. I always imagine wet cat characters a bit like Sidestep. Who have read the FH know what I mean, I hope - they can kick someone's ***, come up with an effective plan, but they just have that adorable wet cat vibe.
The author of Infamous doesn't even bother to make the story really about MC... It's all about her precious OCs and how talented, special and compiled (but it only adds to their charm, of course) they are. I get the impression that the player character is only meant to be a contrast to the others.I mean other characters from the music industry. I don't even know why Sebastian exists there...

eh. a lotta WiPs are big because they're just mood boards. A couple of chapters and answer some asks, people get hooked on what they dream is gonna happen. Broken Fable was all about what background was stronger, what would happen if X and Y fought. Infamous/Wayhaven it's about ROs and made up interactions that haven't even happened.
More chapters come out. It's less and less like the idea you had in your head. People lose interest.

Tbh, I never got the impression that Amy doesn't like the MC and doesn't want them to do good. I'm absolutely sure there will be good endings for the MCs, who are ready to put in work one way or another.
