What is an immediate red flag for you guys?

I have such a love hate relationship with the Superstition author and her games in general lol. I usually avoid authors that have multiple projects like her, even if I enjoy their games, because I know that's a recipe for disaster and that nothing will ever get finished. But I've been following Superstition since S1, it was one of the fist IFs I read that I really loved, and I have an odd attachment/investment into her games in general lol. I do like most of the stuff she creates (except Throne of Ashes, that's very romance heavy and none of the ROs there appeal to me). Superstition is my favourite of hers, but I also really like Sea of Stars and Insight. For the Crown and Dragon Racer were also pretty fun. You know, other than the fact that she cancels half her projects... I would have stopped supporting her or caring about her games a long time ago if I wasn't so invested and if it wasn't for a certain sense of nostalgia for Superstition lol. But sadly atp it's getting to the point where I'm losing my patience and not really caring about Superstition anymore which is sad but it is what it is

That game has gone through an... ordeal lol. IIRC, it was first supposed to have 5 seasons.... then the author silently changed the itchio pages to say it would have 4 seasons and didn't really announce it until someone asked her about it on tumblr and she confirmed. Her explanation was that as she was writing S3, she realised the series is better off having 4 seasons because if it had 5, one of the seasons would have ended up as mostly filler. Which is like okay, understandable. Then she put S3 on hiatus and I don't even remember how long it's been anymore lol. Then she decided to rewrite S1 and S2.... and we all know what a rewrite announcement usually spells for an IF's future. But I could see the point in her justifications at least, because yeah I'd be lying if I said that S1 isn't quite rough around the edges, it's one of her first games and it shows. So I was sorta tentatively hopeful for the series and rewrites, especially because it sounded she was making some cool changes to S1. Then, if I'm not mistaken, she decided that it would only have 3 seasons, not 4 I'm not 100% sure if she's set on this and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think at one point she was wondering if she should leave the game with 4 seasons as planned or trim it down to 3 seasons? And I think she ended up deciding it would be 3 seasons? But don't quote me on this.

But yeah at this point I've just kinda been getting a certain kind of vibe and impression for a while by the way she talks about Superstition that she's just totally checked out and not invested in this series anymore. I honestly think she would cancel it if she could, but she probably knows she can't afford to cancel another series considering how many cancelled ones she already has and she already has a certain reputation for that lmao. Not to mention the fact that Superstition is probably her most popular series, at least from what I've seen. So she's just trying to finish it and get it over with as quickly as possible lol. But again pls no one take this as fact, this is just my impression from what I've seen over all these years I've been following her.

Yeah, I remember playing it for the first time, and I actually really did like how it went, even though it was, let's call it "the first draft". As for her other stuff, I haven't played it since the themes didn't interest me, but I stayed following her for a solid year or more now, because I wanted to see how the Superstition series would wrap up.
Also, I didn't know about that having 5 seasons originally, though, if it's as you said, it's better off having four seasons imo. But cutting it down to 3? I mean, I also think that that's literally her most famous series, and majority of her fans are only there because of that, but doing that would be a disaster if you ask me. Cutting it like that, she might as well abandon it. But yeah, she can't really do that, because people would be pissed, and rightfully so.
And I get the rewrites and all, but couldn't she first finish the thing, and then do the rewriting of it all, if she's not satisfied with it? Give us something first, and then do a rewrite if you want to. And not cut the game like that, so you can do a rewrite because you don't like it. It's one thing when you do a rewrite of a chapter in an if or something, and a whole other thing doing a complete rewrite of not one, but two entire projects, and what's left of the third. That **** alone will take years to be completed, especially because she's working on multiple things at once.
I recall how disappointed I was when I saw some newer monthly update post, about how she didn't have the inspiration for it, and haven't done much of anything in terms of rewriting Superstitions. She focused on some other story or whatever, but like, wtf? It was her idea for a rewrite, not mine! How can she say that she didn't have inspiration???
Blue balling people, the way that she is doing, is not cool. I get everything, and I still follow her progress, but it's as you said, I am also losing patience, because if I need to wait 5 years for that thing to not even be completed, but only for season 1 to be rewritten, yeah, **** that.
It's sad how it came to be, but it is what it is sadly

Exactly! That's what I said, when I said that she should have finished it first, and then do as many rewrites as you want to, if you want to. And not basically scrap the whole thing for years to come, so you can do a rewrite because you don't feel like doing it like that anymore or something

I don't think the author is that unusual? A lot of them support this type of views (leftist/progressive?), CoG as a company basically encourages it, too.
Superhero IFs also seem to attract authors who like getting political.
I can't really give advice on whether to continue reading or not, though. Some people can separate author and work; otherwise you can move on to reading something else. It's just a single WIP after all.

I dont care about their political aligning, but their personal views seems to bleed heavily into their work. At first i didnt care since i just viewed it as necessary writing perspective, but their tumblr looks like an echo chamber of people who agree with them. I checked out their patreon and apparently they've written an non canon adult scene for the MC and their abuser. I swear people can be so weird sometimes.

Lmao, there's this scene in DYVJ where this trans woman character is taking hormone pills. The MC can ask if she's sick since we dont know she's trans at that time and the trans character replies "Yeah, sick of testosterone poisoning". I was like, thats an agressive way of saying you're trans.

Lol it's funny in a way, but it makes for a very obvious reveal unwantedly. I dunno which IF is that you played, but if their gender/treatment is supposed to be a secret for our char (not us) then that dialogue would basically reveal everything to our char and maybe ruin a proper reveal lol.

I was going to eventually read it but this discussion has me thinking to put it on my list of games to not play. The name of the IF was my first indicator to avoid it and now when learning that her depiction and dialogue concerning a trans character was poorly written and too obvious I don't think I ever will read it.

As for the movie and youtuber, I don't like most video game adaptions and am not interested in them. He also is obnoxious and seems to be selling himself and his culture in a stereotypical way for profit.

I think it was supposed to be a reveal. You only get that scene if you choose to spend time with that character.

Ill be honest. Its a good IF. There's a lot of branching segments, a lot of unique dialogue based on your MC's appearance, powers and personality, Nice fight scenes although the MC is not really stronger than every character but they can be strong enough to beat majority of them 1v1. Im not a fan of the ROs. I feel the MC's traumatic past is a bit forced in a lot of scenes which just makes them look very pathetic. It clearly looks like something the author wanted to do on purpose and not unintentional. There's some instances of virtue signalling which i raised an eyebrow at in the beginning but after seeing their tumblr, im sure that was intentional too. There's this thing i find so ironic that the MC can be an absolute garbage of a person but they cant really be dismissive of or disapproving of the 'gender inclusive' or virtue signalling stuff the author put in. The MC's reaction to that trans woman character coming out aggressively is either be understanding, be sympathetic, affirm your gender identity, or nod lol. Kinda puts me off knowing that despite it being a good if, the author is ultimately projecting their views onto the readers.

Idk about the movie, but ive watched jacksepticeye a lot when i was in school and early days of college. He seems like a chill and genuine guy, and i say this after watching his vids for years. I watch his vids occasionally nowadays if not never. He's barely been in any controversy too during that time and even then those werent really serious.

It was really the name and the fact that the author is a huge DA fan. The name sounds terrible. The majority of DA fans are unpleasant.

I never said he was bad, just that he was annoying and his intro seems a bit stereotypical. He's one of those youtubers I never engaged with because they screamed a lot and spoke and interacted with the camera and their audience like they were toddlers. He along with Markiplier and the other one I don't even remember. I'm glad they made their money and that other people enjoy them but wow, they are annoying.

That's my main issue with this sort of thing. It's not that I want to play a jerk, but it feels weird when jerk MC and jerk characters all draw a line at political correctness.
It generally doesn't particularly feel like MC is a villain, rather more like another "underdog vs corrupt government" story.

The IF is good, but I think that everyone should abandon reading it is the way to go, because the author of the said if is a complete retard. And this is not just me being me, this is legitimately facts.
Thankfully I haven't seen the tumblr post myself, but if anyone is going to sit here and tell me that the ***** amber was the in the right in that trial, then that person is very mentally ****ing disabled, and should be regarded as such. Because, common. Look at the damn trial. The ***** was lying constantly, and had no actual evidence of anything. It was all proven in court, like common now.

That's why I side-eye fans of her. She didn't deserve to be ridiculed by millions or to be abused. But most people who defend her online don't just defend what happened to her, they defend everything about her. She's an abuser who is involved with billionaires. This goes for his fans too. A lot of people were under the assumption that the trial was determining whether or not she or him were abused. Which, obviously as you can tell from the televised trial that they were both awful to each other. The trial was to determine if she defamed him or not. She clearly had stuff happen to her DONE by him, but lied and dramatized many things. As such, she was found to have defamed him. They're both really shitty people imo and picking a side is dumb AF.
