What's your IF take that would get the crowd throw tomatoes at you?

There's not enough piracy in the wips (no one has cc hills new smuts 💔) so im putting this thread to pass time.

You guys can PvP here btw if u want

I'll go first. There's not enough IFs that use food choices as an actual Chekhov's gun in the game. Everytime food choices appear it's almost always flavor text and so are dietary restrictions like what's the point of rping a vegetarian if it doesn't come up at a later point to bite you back in the as s?

I think IFs would be more fun if the author's aren't afraid to mess with their readers a little bit. Like if I had the patience for coding I'd make my players get f*cked if they ate diary while being lactose intolerant. Does it add anything to the story? Perhaps not but it's absolutely fun to mess with players.

tattoos, body shape, and whether your skin has vitiligo or not and basically the whole customization choices are friggin useless.

I get it, yea, it's a choice game, EXACTLY. AIN'T A DRESS UP GAME, IF YOU WANNA DO THAT GO TO PICRW. srsly dude, why bother adding when doesn't even change at least a bit of flavor in text.

Using "they" when introducing a character. (like: "they are a tall person with broad shoulders and a low voice." and start using "he" when the character finally introduced himself) it's natural if the character is mysterious, obstruct by a hooded cape or simply androgynous but not for every single character the mc interact with.

It breaks the immersion for me because my brain, who relies on visual, either can't create a image of the character or make every character look androgynous.

Tale of Crowns you're my worse nightmare 😂

There is no obligation to include at least one person of each race and skin color in the cast (one black, asian, latino, white etc.). All or most of the characters can have the same skin color, and that's fine. Shut up, IF community.

Also, screw ROs. You don't need them everywhere.

I don't care if authors use AI to help them translate, explore scenes or bounce ideas around. Some people are absolute *** at writing but have good ideas that benefit from being helped by the evil coding overlords. But if they're so lazy at editing and giving the story their own flavour that it's obvious they've been using it, then they deserve the witch hunt. Otherwise, lie. Seriously. Nobody is holding a gun to your head.

I don't mind some railroading or partially set-MC as long as the story is interesting, because for IF I see it as a playable book first rather than a role-playing-text-based-game first (it does help that I don't really self-insert myself to the MC tho). When an IF has too much gameplay content it gets confusing and tiring like in Zombie Exodus with all the management thingy, One Knight Stand with its costumization and convoluted branches, or The Best Magic Student (or whatever I forgot the title) and the dungeon exploring/combat system. It's honestly too much that they should've made these IF into a full-fledged RPG (I know that's not easy but it would be better)

If you are **** at writing, then how is it 'helping with translation'? It's just AI slop with a few modifications to make it sound "human' (giving it too much credit) lol.

To actually say Choicescript is difficult when it's even easier than html is a joke. If they don't want the hassle of coding, then they should make the AI do it (coding) while they (the writer) should do the actual writing (writing is a skill that can be improved through hard work people).

For me, it's the Kinetic IF / VN that always got me. Always. Every. Single. Time. And the multiple choices that actually not even had any impact and not changed in the description of the plot. What's the CYOA Tag for? Fashion show?. It stands as Choose Your Obligatory Adventure at this point.

And since this is suppose to get me bazooka-ed with tomato, i'm going to add woods to the campfire so we all can see more clearer in this circle, my scout fellow: Authors who thinks their game is so rightfully right that they see any slight counter and reminder as offensive move. I remember there was this IF author from twine games (i forgot the name) that literally shaming a commenter who just asked whether there's option to add one more skintone shade. And the author yap like a dumb sloth on their blog for a few days straight.

And then we got the memes in the if blog that clogs everything up like a clown. My thumb hurts like a beach scrolling so damn far down the earth just to find the important bits. And the filler Polls like "Where do you dream of your date with this RO?". "Which one do you think will be yada yada yada?". Seriously? POLLS Like that? POLLS LIKE THAT? POLLS LIKE THAT!.

I blocked every darn yapping if blog (which frankly just zero work at this point, and recharged leeching off 100™). But some a-tier mfs had to reblogged it and the post clogged my homepage -- I always reported them as spam though. Which is always working in my case. Ah, nothing like a good day of ruining a rando like they ruined my homepage sweet homepage ☕ (Cackling like a maniac, sips coffee).
Cheers.

(And oh. Hold on one moment. I Gotta grab a sack to catch those tomatoes quick. All are Decent enough to make a soup in this rainy season tho.)

No. I said I don't care if you need help with either: translation, exploring scenes or bouncing ideas around. How is it helping with translation? Because it's likely that if you are translating, then you're probably good at writing in your own language because there's a lot of authors who say "sorry english isn't my first language" and make the english authors look like chumps. It's a running gag at this point.

Also, if you have the AI write out everything just from a prompt, of course it will be ****. That's why you would deserve being witch hunted. However, I've seen dozens of stories have really good romance or descriptions or action scenes--but rarely ALL of it is perfect. So instead, they can write out parts, push it through the AI to "tidy it up" or to expand on scenes but make it "more gripping, explicit, heated or gory" (whatever that author is struggling with), or even like another author like Toliken, and then go through what the AI gives them and pick parts that look interesting and copy and paste it, then change it to suit their writing.

AI is a tool, not a replacement.

Or better yet, don't write and leave it to the real writers (i'm not talking about u) 😂 using AI as a tool reduces the diversity of ideas, the “machine” knows only one logical, with clichés, tautologies, and unnecessary words

This is what you said:

If some people are absolute **** at writing but have good ideas, then using AI means that they are simply plugging their idea to the machine, giving it instructions on the tone and style, and basically the slop comes out. This is NOT called writing. Nor is the modified slop called their writing either. Creative outlets like writing and drawing should remain human-made only. Even if you use AI to translate your human-made writing, lol, you are literally just feeding it to the AI as an extra source ( 'machine learning').

Ask any real writer on their opinion on AI usage in their writing. They WILL be offended.

Not going to lie, Ai discourse is literally the worst thing to ever happen internet wise. I don’t care either way, just both sides are so ****ing annoying. I literally do not care if you use it, just hate the low effort type. Do not care if you hate it just keep scrolling, “just learn to draw” ffs who cares about that for 5 seconds a meme you’ll never think about again. Use Ai just don’t be a lazy **** and put in actual effort instead of copying and pasting, with no revising or looking at what’s being written. Ai is not going anywhere so get with the program. I agree though Ai written stuff is so obvious and falls flat every-time.
