What's your IF take that would get the crowd throw tomatoes at you?

Now for my take. Not every character needs to be romanceable, tired of people asking authors to make every major side character an RO. What brought this on you wonder? Well two games come to mind, recently played The Dragon’s Covenant, and went to COG forums and saw someone wanted to romance the dragon in your head?? HOW?! Then I remember chains of destiny, I forgot his name, but the general or whatever people wanted to romance him someone who knew the MC since they were a kid lol. Sometimes I think it’s the you can’t have it so you want it even more kinda thing, but I always see it. I guess it’s because I do not play IFs for the romance, and will most likely not play straight up romance focused games, I do not care too much. I just do not think every major side characters needs to be a RO, some of my opinions on some WIPs/IFs, will get me banned from multiple platforms so let me stop while I’m ahead.

There is no obligation to include at least one person of each race and skin color in the cast (one black, asian, latino, white etc.). All or most of the characters can have the same skin color, and that's fine. Shut up, IF community.

Also, screw ROs. You don't need them everywhere.

I'm going to shut it up further and get more tomatoes plus potatoes: There's also no obligation to make every single RO customizeable as f or m. Have them already set as f or m are okay.

And screw romance. You don't need romance to enjoy the game. Shut up, needy IF community.

It's not as bad as it sounds in @God comment, haha. There were a few people on Tumblr who fantasised about a romance with him, but there was no aggressive persuasion and besides, the author was firm on this matter - no RO.

However, they agreed with the suggestion that it would be a fun option for some to have a one-side crush on him. It fit quite well, honestly considering 1. MC was a teenager, not a child 2. Nemio (the character) wasn't that old that it would be, idk weird? 3. He saved MC's life and always protected them.

So, nothing perverted There are worse in our wonderful IF community.

When Life Gives You Lemons is a horror for me xDDD I usually do f!MC and m!LIs. And so the poor MC ends up with men lusting for her everywhere: at work, at her kid's school, even at home, not even a way to go to grab a coffee without someone flirting with her. And since saying "no" to men is a dangerous thing in real life, I feel uneasy pressing them block buttons in the game, because I subconsciously worry for the MC. So yeah, it's a very disturbing experience for me, as well as any game where all LIs are *too much* into the MC.

Nah. You pick a random RO, or better - one that you think could be your type (most wips and released games have descriptions of all cast listed somewhere on forum / Tumblr) you play the route with this one male RO, the rest is female. Simple.

Well. If it causes such unpleasant feelings in you and you even have difficulty choosing the romance blocking options, you should probably avoid dating simulators like WLGYL .... Although... considering how toxic characters IF authors started to create in recent years; you better avoid other IFs as well. In many games you don't get as much control over what's going on with your MC as in nice silly Lemon. They can seriously traumatize. This community started to attract all kinds of perverted freaks and it influences what authors write.

And I don't mind the dark stuff when I come for the dark stuff, I'm quite a connoisseur of yandere and other stuff like this, it's the dissonance between me perceiving this situation as threatening, and the MC and everyone else just rolling like it's all sunshine and daisies. Tis a very good horror material right there. And, tbh, I shared it as a funny anecdote of my weird experience. I'm not traumatized forever, it's just a very bizzare thing the author really didn't intend and I've experienced none the less.
