Oh boy, I knew I was in for an entertaining read when I logged on today and saw how active this thread has been. I have no dog in this fight bc I read Jude's games and REALLY did not like them so I don't follow her or anything like that, I'm just a bystander watching the chaos unfold lmao *cue Michael Jackson eating popcorn gif*. I followed but never played the original and unfollowed when the author said their story would take 30 years to write. I hope it isn't ableist to do that. It has nothing to do with them having a disability but instead realizing that their story isn't worth waiting that long for.

The only things I see as proof of AI are when prompts are left in, an author has an abrupt change in writing style and quality, and or there are sentences appear fine but when you actually pay close attention you realize those words don't really work together like that and or all of the above.

it's not for the em dashes because as u said those aren't any indicative. but the issue doesn't lie in their frequency rather than how they're used. the story reads strangely, there's no feeling to it nd i don't want to seem crazy although the writing itself is fine.
I believe it's the repetition of "it's the kind of thing etc etc" , or how those em dashes are used to emphasize smt that doesn't need emphasis. there's a lot of expressions that are just there to make unnecessary comparisons that go "it's not this but rather that nd so on nd so forth" . the story gives me an odd feeling. it reads like an uncanny valley in a way. although no offense

Yeah, and ive read the previous demo and it was absolutely different. This one is just off. Wordy for the sake of being wordy.
Also my shameful but extensive experience with things like janitor.ai SCREAMS ai writing. I stopped using those partly because the writing is so soulless and hollow.

After reading the first few pages it did seems a little bland. The word count for just the first chapter is a bit much as well. If the game is based off of those reality tv shows then there wouldn't be all that much substance to work off of where the first chapter would be almost 500k words. Not outright saying its AI as we have no proof and writers get really angry if you say something is AI based off of feelings. I just cannot get over that word count.

Edit: Also lmao to people admitting they know this because they read character AI bots. Thats a self read.

Idk, but for me, I think when the text looks way too "clean", for the lack of a better word. Or how it just reads strangely, and has no soul in it. I understand that not everyone can capture it, but something seems off when reading ai stuff.

"Not sound — not exactly. More like pressure" nd more yet.


I think reading these two IFs gave me a lifetime supply of em dashes usage that I wish to not see again. I don't even use them that excessively in my academic work.

she posted a post on tumblr about it, I did look at the proof post she linked to for her fanfic and by the looks of it, it's human writing as I don't think ai does edits or things like that, and her fanfic reads like her IF so maybe it is real and just overthought. I've never used ai so I really could be wrong but it seems pretty human in method if not in actual writing.

I hate to be a downer, but the thing she provided doesn't prove anything, sadly. One of my friends works in education, and she says that at this point even asking students to hand in a document with an edit history is pointless now because a lot of them just type the stuff they get from AI manually.

Also, the way she showed the edits made me go ???. As far as I can see, this is not edit history from Google doc (it highlights any added words), so it is done in editing\proofreading mode in a text editor like Microsoft Word or smth similar. Now I am not saying no one ever edits their work in editing mode, but this is very... errr... unusual, to put it mildly. I'd also say that she either doesn't know basic grammar (one of the examples in her fic is: you watch her for a moment — the line of her jaw, the way the light catches... This should be a colon, not a dash. There are two reasons why there would be a dash: you don't know rules or you used AI.)

When AI first came out I played around a bit with it; not character ai, but more sophisticated 'writer' models. Her stuff reads like what these models put out almost to a T. The biggest tell for me is not even the improper dashes or antithesis, but what I call 'triplet parallelism': for some reason AI loves to create sequences of three near-identical rhythmically or grammatically structured sentences.
