Thank God. I thought I was the only one who felt like it was false advertising. Even the Tumblr Blog is 'untitledrockstar-if' what else are you supposed to think?

To be fair with interactive books, the variables and choices needed to consider does make it significantly harder for them to write, couple that with writer's block and external factors it would make sense why it would take a few years for books to be completed. As long as it is complete.
But then again 8 years with just 2 books is insane. The third one might just come out by 2030 lmao.

If you're talking about infamous then relax, author said she wants 20 or so chapters, its been 2 years and we're still on chapter 3 lmao
Even that one wip has no chance of releasing this year since im assuming author has "remember you will die" in their focus.
To be fair, it's not the romances that are taking up so much of writing these days, it's the crazy amount of endings in Retri. Which are great, but yeah....

I don't even know how many there are...I guess it could be some problem in Revelations (plus two new ROs). But I still think Ryden is a great writer, better author than 99% of current WIP authors and he will finish this series. So far I haven't had the impression that romance has become a dominant topic, although various relationships are an important part of the story.
At least in Infamous we had our own band and we weren't forced to be in a relationship with someone who overshadows us

This whole IF and its writer's tumblr are SO weird. The author gives me vibes of the type of person who only watches a show for the shipping between characters (cough cough most Rings of Power fans).
Isn't that like 90% of the IF readers in general
A story might not have romance as the main point, but ppl will still be concentrating on ROs
Honestly, I think most of the focus being on ROs for readers is due to most WIPs being perpetually stuck in prologues or their first chapter for months-to-years on end and the only thing of substance to talk about just happens to be the characters.Isn't that like 90% of the IF readers in general

It's also easier, imo, to fill in the blanks for characters than it is for an entire narrative they barely delved into.

Pretty much this. The only exception I could think of and even then it has quite a few asks about the RO is Court of the Gilded Roses which has most asks centering around the future kids or about the MC, which makes sense because no one reads harem/concubine stories for the romance.

). My dislike towards an IF mainly stems from ROs not being held properly accountable for their actions
1. Infamous-everything said here against infamous, I agree. I lost interest in infamous and I don't think this IF is the best for my mental peace, I hate it in IFs when my MC is treated like a doormat unless my mc is given the options to be a complete menace in retaliation
2. This one is a case of "hear me out". Apartment 502. I love, LOVE the writing but Rainn doesn't get enough backlash; rather from the Tumblr asks(I haven't read the recent ones), I feel like they are a bit coddled by both the author and fans, given the gravity of what they did. I will explain. In my playthrough, my mc didn't do relationships or romance or even hookups before Rainn took the initiative. Rainn made effort, took actions which made them seem like a partner on whom mc could depend and rely. My foreign mc chose the option along the lines they weren't sure or this seemed like a bad idea about moving but still decided to move because Rainn convinced her and mc trusted Rainn. But to pull the rug out from under mc when it counted the most is some diabolical ****. I completely respect the breakup reason but I was like-maybe don't convince your partner to move the world for you just to breakup with her after she moved? Before anyone says mc surprised them, Rainn had plenty of opportunities to end things off but no, they were being negligent or avoiding communication (for example, when they still actually wanted to be in a relationship, they made time for mc but before the breakup, when mc texted them, they didn't respond but Rainn responded to their mutual friend, if it was a mistake or a case of not noticing mc's text or being actually busy, that would have been ok but they were intentionally avoiding mc's text. The humiliation I would have felt if my partner did that in front of my friend...) Primarily I don't care that they broke up with mc, but I care about my mc becoming almost homeless and being humiliated publicly. It is cruel and unforgivable for me no matter how intentional or "unintentional" it was. I have no interest in Rainn, they can suffer or burn in hell(yes, I'm vindictive and protective of my mc) but it is the writing style and Atlas for whom I will be reading this IF

Glad to see that some of other people's MC also have actual common sense in this routebut I care about my mc becoming almost homeless and being humiliated publicly. I still don't have anywhere near as much complains about the IF as much as infamous cuz the writing style and story is juiiiiicy as hell. Like I am okay with a character doing the mc wrong since that is what people are like but I don't understand why said character needs to be coddled and have their actions justified by the author. Like "ohhh yeahh they hurt you but hey!! They could have done much worse so it's really not that bad!!" (How people and the author defend 7 and rainn— like, hey seven went out and deliberately slept around with people you know only shortly after the breakup but at least they didn't cheat right??)THE BAR IS IN HELL.

At least 502 has the option to flip rainn off. You don't get to retaliate in infamous.
omggg! YES! THANK YOU for mentioning that about 7 towards the end, i wanted to vent about that too but didn't remember the exact details but also i didn't want to waste my energy searching that tumblr post. like, my mc could been mourning for what they had and for what they will never have with 7, but after the ghosting before breakup and then sleeping with mutuals(with some intentions to affect mc if my memory serves me right) after the breakup made me so disgusted, not because they slept with others but due to their intentions and toxicity. that post helped me to come to conclusion that i never want to play 7's route back then(now, i just gave up on that IF overall) and helped my mc to get over 7 and only mourn the time and energy she wasted over someone like 7Omggggggg literally EXACTLY what you said abt rainn. I looked through the ROs and there are all the tropes I don't like; rival, distant RO with a kid, boisterous and arrogant, RO with longtime partner, the one who is not interested in relationships and the cherry on top - the perfect ex who made a fool out of you.

Is it Apt 502? I don't remember the RO with a kid. Tbh, IF's with relationship drama ruin my mental peace. I just feel like there's drama just for the sake of drama. In Infamous, there's just drama after drama after drama and frankly I don't click with any of the our bandmates either. Even ITFO had light hearted moments which actually changed the tone of the story to give a breather. Or maybe I'm just biased against relationship dramas lmao.
Garrett/Gaia [f/m] - Your neighbor. G is friendly but distant, always looking down at their phone when they see you. They seem disinterested in the happenings of Apartment 502. You can't help but wonder more about them...and their young child.

And I'm really tired of the toxic ROs that authors try to push on me. Convince me how incredibly talented attractive, yet complicated they are so MC has to be a doormat for them.
Now this isn't me defending Rainn as I wholeheartedly agree their actions were messed up; but I vaguely recall the reason Rainn avoided MC's attempts at communication were the result of them believing they had properly/clearly broken up with the MC (iirc I think the breakup scene explains this too?) over video call - which obviously they hadn't. Also Rainn pulling that and still having the gall to ask to be friends with his now ex the very next day is just insane behavior on their part.Omggggggg literally EXACTLY what you said abt rainn. And yeah definitely agree about 7, especially for an MC who didn't vote against them (I believe their reaction more if MC did vote them out but they still took the nuclear reaction either way).
Amy has yet to convince me that the band was 1). not acting maliciously as a group against both MC & 7 by blindsiding them with the vote (
For that second point even; 7 after the vote, in the author's own words, refused to talk to the MC about how they were actually feeling about it and MC took them at their word (and then 7 blew up at them at the party for believing them). Just straight up exhausting behavior from them lol.
Also I feel like a crazy person whenever Amy says that the ghosting before they broke up with MC doesn't make 7 an ******* and it wasn't a ****ed up thing to do because; hey it was only two weeks to up to a month where they refused to talk to the MC at all before coming back to make it official.
You remember right and I believe it's even alluded to in the phone call with MC's mom in the game too. At this point I really don't understand why the game's prologue didn't just start with the band's vote and the as-of-yet unrevealed fight with 7 from the start rather than withholding important background context for half the cast.
The game itself probably won't ever be completed honestly just due to the sheer number of career paths that's available to the MC so it's hard to recommend actually playing it unless you were really bored.
I am still very sad A Comedy of Manors (tho it still had romance but I don't think it was necessary to pursue anyone?) went silent as it was one of the few contemporary IFs that was just cozy and not steeped in drama. It was just an MC, their best friend, and the restoration of a manor in the French countryside while getting to know the locals.I agree with you.
