Maybe you'd want to play it later on? I remember the author talking about your best friend being a potential RO (but its a secret route or something??). I might be misremembering if theyre your best friend but i remember the name "Andi", i think. Didn't actually play the wip, so take my words with a grain of salt

Finally, somewhere I can discuss(vent). My dislike towards an IF mainly stems from ROs not being held properly accountable for their actions
1. Infamous-everything said here against infamous, I agree. I lost interest in infamous and I don't think this IF is the best for my mental peace, I hate it in IFs when my MC is treated like a doormat unless my mc is given the options to be a complete menace in retaliation
2. This one is a case of "hear me out". Apartment 502. I love, LOVE the writing but Rainn doesn't get enough backlash; rather from the Tumblr asks(I haven't read the recent ones), I feel like they are a bit coddled by both the author and fans, given the gravity of what they did. I will explain. In my playthrough, my mc didn't do relationships or romance or even hookups before Rainn took the initiative. Rainn made effort, took actions which made them seem like a partner on whom mc could depend and rely. My foreign mc chose the option along the lines they weren't sure or this seemed like a bad idea about moving but still decided to move because Rainn convinced her and mc trusted Rainn. But to pull the rug out from under mc when it counted the most is some diabolical ****. I completely respect the breakup reason but I was like-maybe don't convince your partner to move the world for you just to breakup with her after she moved? Before anyone says mc surprised them, Rainn had plenty of opportunities to end things off but no, they were being negligent or avoiding communication (for example, when they still actually wanted to be in a relationship, they made time for mc but before the breakup, when mc texted them, they didn't respond but Rainn responded to their mutual friend, if it was a mistake or a case of not noticing mc's text or being actually busy, that would have been ok but they were intentionally avoiding mc's text. The humiliation I would have felt if my partner did that in front of my friend...) Primarily I don't care that they broke up with mc, but I care about my mc becoming almost homeless and being humiliated publicly. It is cruel and unforgivable for me no matter how intentional or "unintentional" it was. I have no interest in Rainn, they can suffer or burn in hell(yes, I'm vindictive and protective of my mc) but it is the writing style and Atlas for whom I will be reading this IF. I know it is too early to tell but after infamous, i kinda get the ick whenever authors coddle particular character... If i pretend i didn't read the tumblr asks, this WIP is fine so far and I have hope for this one unlike infamous

I can't stand how Rainn made my MC look like the abuser/aggressor in front of their coworkers while acting like the VICTIM. They're so full of themselves UGHH. It’s obvious they think a relationship would just get in the way of their work, which is honestly ridiculous (like why be in a relationship in the first place??). Instead of seeing my MC as someone who could support them, they act like they're just a distraction and burden (and **** their Cypertruck its ugly)

eggsactly! the way people will bend over backwards to defend rainn and seven is wild as hell. like, yes, complex and morally gray characters make for great storytelling, but there’s a huge difference between acknowledging their flaws and straight-up excusing them. and the mental gymnastics people do to justify their actions?? unreal. “they could have been worse” yeah, and i could have been hit by a bus instead of just getting my wallet stolen, but that doesn’t make it a good time!! like congrats, they didn’t commit actual war crimes, do they want a trophy??Omggggggg literally EXACTLY what you said abt rainn. Still, everything else about 502 is perfect so I can ignore allat. But my god, I agree! I was so baffled to see so many people thirsting over rainn and the author actively defending them because what they did was DIABOLICAL imo. THE HUMILIATION, HELLO??

but what really kills me is when the author themselves jumps in to defend them. like, if you’re gonna write a messy, selfish, emotionally damaging character, own it. let them be toxic. let the audience hate them. stop trying to dress them up as poor misunderstood babies who just made a couple oopsie teehee mistakes. if they humiliated, manipulated, or deliberately hurt the mc, let that stand. some people love toxic characters as toxic characters. no one needs them sugarcoated.
and seven??? SEVEN. that was not just moving on, that was straight-up psychological warfare, because they knew exactly what they were doing when they slept with people from mc’s social circle. that was not just “moving on.” that was spite. that was an entire campaign that was intentional. that was calculated. and people really sit here like, “but at least they didn’t cheat!!” as if that somehow cancels out the pure pettiness of it all?? that’s like saying, “well, at least they didn’t commit arson” while they’re actively lighting your house on fire. the bar is underground and they’re still tripping over it.
and rainn?? ohhh don’t even get me started on that walking red flag. imagine being excited to finally move in with your partner, stepping into a brand-new city just to surprise him, only to find out the real surprise is you’re single now! like, bro really waited until the literal moment you showed up to drop the bomb, in a bar no less—public humiliation and heartbreak in one go. and then?? has the absolute audacity to get mad when you react like a normal human being?? sorry, was the mc supposed to just nod and thank him, dab him up and say "good game my g, thanks for the life lesson" for completely blindsiding them?? rainn is the type of dude to set your house on fire and then act offended when you complain about the smoke.
honestly, respect to you for even trying to see where it was going because the second an author starts coddling their awful characters like they’re just misunderstood instead of straight-up selfish, i clock out. let bad characters be bad. let people react how they want to react. if anything, that makes them less compelling because it means the writing is too scared to fully commit.
On the topic of Author’s coddling their toxic or bad romance options it brings me to my most hated IF. The night market, honestly I played it during the first book hype, and first off I disliked the MC personality, should’ve just made the book you clearly wanted to make. I romanced Bella before I knew her and Gabriel past which kinda put me off, but it was cool I guess problem is I hardly like linear games in the first place. Let’s skip to the thing that threw me off the Milo situation, I’m a petty person so I thought I would be able to get my payback or something in book 2. I check the author tumblr and my hatred skyrockets, oh you won’t be able to do anything? probably forced to make up and forgive poor milo. Everyone who complained about Milo and wanted to do something to him were basically called stupid and illiterate. Remember to respect author’s though even if they don’t respect you and can disrespect you when they feel like. I never said anything I just deleted the game, but I will see their tumblr pop up on my suggested follows on tumblr and scroll a bit and have a little chuckle. It might seem like it was not that deep, but I just dislike that pretentious attitude she has when it comes to any criticism about the night market. Plus the random forced poly is kinda wild. I dislike so many games, but not many times where I can say that I dislike the author too probably under 5.
I didnt even play it lmao. I read the description and some of the tumblr asks, knew immediately that this is not an IF I would enjoy, or rather this is not an 'Interactive fiction' at all. It has all the things that I absolutely hate in IF's, a useless MC, linear story, railroading and gaslighting the player, and the worst of all, a pretentious author.

Well, how about switching things up, and play as a male MC — I mean completely male, like 50 Shades level of masculinity and not a -0 bishonen, with Rainn as the workaholic girlfriend!
I can bet, that not a single thing she says will be viewed with the same level.
I mean, she has a career to look for, right?
In the end, it won't really matter, because the book isn't even finished. Much less, the sequels.
Onto Seven from Infamous.
Play as a male ambitious MC — with a stage name Twenty-four, and only a female romanced Seven.
Would her toxicity be the same?
In my playthrough, I liked that angsty girlie Seven. What I didn't know, was the f*cking around with the MC's friends and relatives.
When does that get revealed?
And is Seven remorseful about it?
nah, i get you 100%. some authors just cannot take criticism, and it shows. like, if you’re gonna make a game where the mc is locked into a specific personality, just own it, don’t pretend it’s a choice-based story when it’s really just “watch my oc make decisions you might not even like.” and the way they handle toxic characters??? unbearable. if you’re gonna make someone do mc dirty, at least give players the option to react accordingly. forcing a redemption arc or forgiveness just makes it feel like the author cares more about protecting their faves than respecting player agency.
whew. some authors love to demand respect while treating their audience like dirt the second they don’t get pure praise. if you can’t handle valid criticism without being condescending, maybe interactive fiction isn’t for you. and the forced poly?? bold of them to assume everyone wants that dynamic. like, if it’s not optional, just say so instead of acting like people are weird for not being into it.

seven also ghosted mc before breaking up with them. seven is actually unhinged. ☝☝
they push mc away, make sure they feel unwanted, and then act offended when mc actually respects that boundary. seven wants control, plain and simple. if mc chases, seven wins. if mc stays away, seven still plays victim. it’s an endless loop of manipulation.
and remorseful?? lol, i hope they were. but imo seven has that “i regret the consequences, not the actions” energy. like, they might say they messed up, but only because it didn’t work out how they wanted. it’s never about mc’s feelings—just seven’s own suffering.

It gets a mention during the phone call with MCs mom (during the truck stop after choosing the bus), MC thinks about how Seven made a point about being seen with people in their circle after the breakup was official; and then further confirmed via author on Tumblr.
As for remorseful... not yet (if ever)? They haven't even gotten to the point where their remorseful about the way things went down before that xD.

In infamous, yes. Also sanguine sky. Don't know about 502.
There's not really any option to be indifferent about Seven too. It's been 2 years, but everytime Seven comes across MC, it's 'goosebumps and ****' and not 'idgaf about you anymore' reactions from the MC.
If Seven is a girl, the perspective feels different. Although the cheating bugs me. I hope it is just a "being seen with other people" instead of "doing the hanky panky with other people".
there's a reason i used they/them for those ros, because sometimes i play multiple routes with different genders of an RO. for me personally, their actions are still shitty. now if a guy or male mc is ok with an ro's actions on the basis of their gender, i would say to each their own. but i am not changing my mc's gender or personality to justify or dilute ros' problematic actions
referring to Seven as male and mc as female because its easier to distinguish the pronouns
The author explained this as "Seven being mcs childhood friend and thus very important to them" but tbh my only reasoning for mc reacting so strongly to Seven is because he ****ed mc up plain and simple.
Seven slept with mc's social circle out of spite, defamed her to the point that all his friends treat mc like voldermort "the one who shall not be named", lied to mc that everything was fine and he didn't have a grudge after the vote only to get mad at her because he "obviously wasn't fine" and who knows what he told her at the party.
And all this for what, because the mc demoted him in the band, with the agreement of every other member, or in some cases even voted against him being demoted? And all for reason too, everyone preffered mcs singing to his.
This is deranged behaviour. If someone did this irl we would call them a cartoon villain, yet seven is excused.
I have lost multiple friends, even a childhood friend that used to mean a lot to me. Do i have these ****ing goosebumps and cold sweat when i see them walking down the street? No, because i know they won't do anything to me. But Seven is like a ticking time bomb and mc subconsciously feels that too, hence their physical reactions to just SEEING Seven. Like either mc has some serious anxiety disorder or it's because of him.
Keep in mind this is just how i see it lol, I played with a female mc nd seven and felt this. I don't think the genders affect my opinion.
I am gonna hold your hand when I say this but....they did the hanky panky. Amy mentioned both in a patreon qna and the Tumblr how seven is demisexual and how the hook ups made them realise that they didn't really enjoy it. (Iirc it's also mentioned in the game? Though I am not too sure about that)
