I'm gonna sound like a jerk, but if true, this gotta have to do with the maturity level of the author herself. You cannot write characters that are more clever/mature/whatever than you yourself are, after all.
Also, the author has a recurring problem with pacing. Don't know if it's just her style but the way she arrange scenes is kinda... choppy, rough — like an animation with only the key-frames and no tweens (this basically: Twinkle Nora Rock Me opening (ｰ ｰ ; ) It is more prominent in her older IF, Lamb to the Slaughter, which I think is better than RYWD. Choppy pacing can work if done right, something that Mara is not doing imo (･ з ･)
Very well put—there’s no montage, no transitions. It’s like dreaming, where one scene just abruptly cuts to another, leaving the reader wondering, 'Where am I? Who am I?'
Someone pointed that out on the author's tumblr, and she went 'well. that's how things are in the industry' (which kinda made me giggle, because are you?? in the industry, dear Mara? at your ripe mature age of 22?). And, on one hand, her reply does sound immature, but on the other, back in 2022 I watched the televised ver of Depp vs Heard trial and by the sound of it substance abuse of extreme kind IS normalised to the extent any sane person will find baffling. No maturity in sight either. I assume she was basing her setting for Can't Save Your Love on these kinds of celebs.

Nah, 2 more years hiatus and then re-release of the prologue 2.0. Can't judge the author for dropping\messing around with a passion project that was 100% free, but that's the reason I don't trust any of the WIP IFs nowadays and always assume they will never get finished.
And the changes aren't even drastic, it's still basically the same just slightly (and I mean sliiightly) improved. Something that can be done in a few months' time and does not at all justify the three years long wait (ꐦㅍ _ㅍ)Zorlok by albie

Ngl waiting 3 years for a remake of the prologue makes me feel like an idiot for thinking this had potential. What's next? Waiting 6 months for chapter 1 part 1 of 5 which will be remaked with the prologue in 2 years?

I was a mod/ beta tester in his discord when I was around so this is 2022. There’s been 3 versions of the game maybe even 4 he rewrote it so much. My favorite was always the original version, they all have been the same of you reincarnating, but all have been for different reasons. The original version you were the child of death and your mom made a deal with him and you had 2 other siblings and you were all different concepts of death and you meet your brother or whatever. The other versions ( the one you are referring to is with the reporter at the beginning, they were hostages). They were all good, here comes 2023 when it turn bad he gets into a relationship and says he will take a break from writing, then returns saying he thinks the MC is a bad person because he lies, can potentially cheat, (MC would’ve been able to romance a lot of characters at once since secret identity). He didn’t like MC could threaten the One Ro daughter lol, I think that was more who we worked for doing btw. Then people were lowkey throwing shade calling him a simp and he deleted his discord server and tumblr could not be found. Now the fun part 2024, he returns with a bad remake changing everything making snide remarks ( btw everyone who called me out or whatever I’m marrying her.) all they said is he changed everything after a few weeks of dating her. His number one defender who was also a mod I remember them, you can find them over there defending authors on the cog forum, saying the remake is the same which it wasn’t was sooo boring. So his return was short lived, so wonder how that relationship is going lol. The first few versions were 8/10 and above not going to lie. I knew him not close close but had lots of conversations with him and his attitude did a 360 in like a month for her. Some people can write horrible characters and some cannot it’s his choice I don’t agree with, but it is what it is. His other story had potential too, which sucks he’s not a bad author imo.
Sad how someone can just drop what they were writing for years for someone who claims to 'love' them. I played the remake version and remember audibly saying, 'What the hell?' at the beginning. I remember the main character having a spouse, which I suspect was the author's girlfriend selfinsert
It’s only hilarious to me because this was all within like a month or two. “I wouldn’t like twilight in real life” yeah obviously there’s lots of characters I like that I would hate irl???. Funny because he used to brag about how much he loved and his plans for MC all changed after one conversation with her. I understand though, love makes you do insane things can’t fault him.
Its fiction at the end of the day. Ofc there's some limits, but to 180 your morally grey story loved by many just cuz a girl you really like might disapprove of it if she finds out? He can show he doesnt condone the actions of the MC by writing consequences for them, but instead he decided to rewrite the story making the MC a goody two shoes? to be frank, its kinda insulting to authors who manage to force themself to write such topics. Im not gonna pretend i enjoy cheating elements and a few more such topics in stories, but i do respect authors who find it in them to write it anyway.
